Open an Asaan Mobile Account in Pakistan: Dial *2262#, No Internet Needed
Dial *2262# on any SIM to open an Asaan Mobile Account with just your CNIC and no internet. See the 9 steps, the 13 banks, the limits and the BVS rule.

Dial *2262# from any mobile SIM in Pakistan to open an Asaan Mobile Account. You need only your CNIC number and its issue date. No internet, no smartphone and no branch visit. Pick a bank from the menu, set a PIN, and the account opens on the spot.
The Asaan Mobile Account (AMA) is a shared platform run by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) with branchless banking providers and mobile operators. "Branchless banking" means a bank account you run from your phone and agents, not a branch. SBP's AMA page shows 5,753,459 accounts opened so far.
We read SBP's AMA page and its step by step guides, and SBP's Branchless Banking Regulations, on 3 October 2026. We did not open an account ourselves. Here is how the Asaan Mobile Account works, what it lets you do, and the limits that apply.

Anyone with a valid CNIC can open an Asaan Mobile Account
Any Pakistani with a valid CNIC can open an Asaan Mobile Account, on a SIM from any mobile operator. It works on a basic keypad phone as well as a smartphone, because the menu runs over USSD, the same system as balance check codes.
That last point is the whole idea. The platform was launched under the National Financial Inclusion Strategy for people who cannot reach a branch, or have no data package. A farmer in Tharparkar with a keypad phone gets the same menu as an office worker in Islamabad.
Do not confuse it with the Asaan Digital Account. That one is a regular bank account opened online through a bank's app or website. The Asaan Mobile Account is a branchless banking account opened through a short code.
Your CNIC must be valid. An expired card will stop the NADRA check that runs while you open the account, and the same problem can freeze an existing account, so renew it first.
How to open an account by dialling *2262#
Dial *2262#, choose "Register for Asaan Mobile Account", pick a bank, then enter your CNIC number and its issue date. Accept the terms, set and confirm a PIN, and the confirmation appears on screen. The bank then sends an SMS with its helpline.
SBP lists nine steps. On a keypad phone they take a few minutes:
- Dial
*2262#from the SIM you want to use. - Select "Register for Asaan Mobile Account".
- Scroll through the list and select your preferred bank.
- Enter your CNIC number without dashes.
- Enter the CNIC issue date printed on your card.
- Give consent and accept the terms and conditions.
- Set a secret PIN for your transactions.
- Enter the PIN again to confirm it.
- Read the confirmation on screen. The bank also sends an SMS with the account status and its helpline.

That SMS also tells you to complete biometric verification (BVS) within 60 days. Do it. BVS means a thumbprint check against NADRA's records, done at a bank agent or branch. Without it, SBP's rules block cash deposits, cash withdrawals and transfers to people without an account.
Already have a branchless account? Choose "Request to link existing bank account" instead. You enter your account number, CNIC and account PIN, and confirm. SBP says each customer can link only one account to the platform.
What you can do from the Asaan Mobile Account menu
Once the account is open, dial *2262# again to reach the services menu. You can check your balance, see a mini statement, send money to any bank account in Pakistan, pay utility bills, buy mobile top-up and change your PIN.
| Service | What it does |
|---|---|
| Balance inquiry | Shows your balance at once |
| Mini statement | Shows recent account activity |
| Send money | Transfers to any account at any Pakistani bank |
| Bill payment | Electricity, gas, telephone and mobile top-up |
| Change PIN | Sets a new account PIN from the menu |
| Account closure | Gives your bank's helpline for closure, feedback and complaints |
To send money, choose "Same Bank" or "Other Bank", pick the receiver's bank, enter their account number and amount, choose a purpose and enter your PIN. Check the account number twice. A transfer to the wrong number is hard to reverse, as anyone who has chased a wrong wallet transfer knows.
Bill payment works the same way. Pick the bill type, the company (for example LESCO, MEPCO, K-Electric or PTCL), enter the consumer number and amount, then your PIN. Every payment ends with an SMS from the bank.

13 banks offer accounts on the platform
SBP says 13 branchless banking providers are on the AMA platform. You choose one when you register. The logos on SBP's page include JazzCash, Easypaisa, Konnect, UBL, MCB, Meezan Bank, Allied Bank, Bank Alfalah, JS Bank, U Bank, FINCA and FirstPay.
We could identify 12 of the 13 from the logos SBP shows. The thirteenth logo did not load when we checked, so open the menu and scroll the full list before you choose.
Which one should you pick? Choose the provider with agents closest to your home, because you will need an agent for BVS and for cash. If you already use one wallet, you may simply link it rather than open a second account.
Limits and safety rules for a phone bank account
An account opened remotely starts at Level 0 under SBP's Branchless Banking Regulations. The limits are Rs 25,000 a day, Rs 50,000 a month, Rs 200,000 a year and a Rs 200,000 maximum balance. Biometric verification upgrades it to Level 1.
The regulations set the KYC for Level 0 as a NADRA identity check plus a one-time code or call back, which is what the *2262# sign-up does. Limits count separately for money coming in and money going out.
| Limit | Level 0 | Level 1, after biometrics |
|---|---|---|
| Per day | Rs 25,000 | Rs 50,000 |
| Per month | Rs 50,000 | Rs 200,000 |
| Per year | Rs 200,000 | Not set in the table |
| Maximum balance | Rs 200,000 | Not set in the table |

These figures come from SBP's 2019 regulations. A bank can set tighter limits of its own, so the SMS and helpline of your bank are the final word. Since 31 January 2024, SBP has also required a thumbprint check for every cash deposit and withdrawal at an agent.
Keep your PIN to yourself. Never share it with anyone who calls, even if they say they are from a bank, SBP or PTA. If money leaves without your say, call your bank's helpline first and note the complaint number. If the bank does not resolve it, take it to SBP through the Sunwai complaint portal.
Common questions
What is the code to open an Asaan Mobile Account?
Dial *2262# from any mobile SIM in Pakistan. It works without internet on any phone.
What documents do I need for an Asaan Mobile Account?
Only your valid CNIC. The menu asks for the CNIC number and its issue date. You complete biometric verification later, within 60 days.

How much money can I keep in an Asaan Mobile Account?
A Level 0 account can hold up to Rs 200,000 under SBP's 2019 Branchless Banking Regulations, with Rs 25,000 a day and Rs 50,000 a month in transactions. Your bank may set lower limits.
Can I link my existing Easypaisa or JazzCash account?
Yes. Choose "Request to link existing bank account" after dialling *2262#. Each customer can link only one account to the platform.
How do I close an Asaan Mobile Account?
Pick "Account Closure" in the menu. It gives your bank's helpline, and the bank closes the account. It is the same route for complaints.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on 3 October 2026. The *2262# code, the nine opening steps, the 60 day BVS advice, the one account linking rule, the services list, the 13 providers and the 5,753,459 account figure are read on SBP's Asaan Mobile Account page. The Level 0 and Level 1 KYC rules and limits are read in SBP's Branchless Banking Regulations issued with BPRD Circular No. 10 of 2019. The biometric rule for agent cash transactions from 31 January 2024 is read in BPRD Circular Letter No. 20 of 2023. We did not open an account, and we found no later SBP circular changing these limits in the circular indexes for 2024 to 2026.
