Dollar Rate in Pakistan Today: Rs 277.01 Interbank, Rs 278.81 in the Open Market
Dollar rate in Pakistan on 8 October 2026: Rs 277.01 interbank and Rs 278.81 open market selling, from SBP and ECAP sheets. See riyal, dirham and forward rates.

The dollar in Pakistan's interbank market closed at Rs 277.01 on Thursday 8 October 2026, by the State Bank's revaluation rate. The open market closed at Rs 277.60 to buy and Rs 278.81 to sell, by the exchange companies' own closing rates. The rupee was almost unchanged from Wednesday.
The interbank rate fell by less than one paisa. In the open market, the selling rate did not move at all and the buying rate fell by one paisa. For anyone changing money this week, the rate has been close to flat.
We read both figures on sbp.org.pk after the market closed. The State Bank publishes its own interbank figures and also posts the open market closing rates that the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP) sends it each day. Friday's rates will appear only after Friday's close.
The dollar rate in Pakistan today is Rs 277.01 interbank and Rs 278.81 open market
Rs 277.0133 is the State Bank's mark to market revaluation rate for 8 October 2026, the rate banks use to value their dollar books. The open market selling rate of Rs 278.81 is what an exchange company charged a customer buying cash dollars at Thursday's close.

| Rate | 8 October 2026 | 7 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Interbank weighted average, bid | Rs 276.73 | Rs 276.74 |
| Interbank weighted average, offer | Rs 277.16 | Rs 277.16 |
| SBP revaluation rate | Rs 277.0133 | Rs 277.0214 |
| Open market, buying | Rs 277.60 | Rs 277.61 |
| Open market, selling | Rs 278.81 | Rs 278.81 |
The gap between the two systems on Thursday was about Rs 1.80 a dollar, from the revaluation rate to the open market selling rate. That gap is normal. A counter dealer handles cash in small amounts and prices that in.
The rupee has gained about 11 paisa since 29 September
The revaluation rate fell from Rs 277.0214 on Wednesday to Rs 277.0133 on Thursday, a change of 0.81 paisa. Since Monday 29 September the rate has fallen by 10.81 paisa in total, so one dollar now buys slightly fewer rupees.

- Monday 29 September: revaluation rate Rs 277.1214.
- Friday 2 October: Rs 277.0714.
- Monday 5 October: Rs 277.0631.
- Tuesday 6 October: Rs 277.0545.
- Wednesday 7 October: Rs 277.0214.
- Thursday 8 October: Rs 277.0133.
For a family receiving about Rs 100,000 worth of dollars, Thursday's move is worth about Rs 3. The whole move since 29 September is worth about Rs 39. That is why the rate feels stuck near Rs 277.
The State Bank's latest weekly figure, as on 2 October 2026, put its own liquid reserves at $21,453.7 million, a little higher than a week earlier. Steady reserves are one reason the rate has barely moved.
Riyal and dirham rates for remittance families
Saudi Arabia and the UAE are the two biggest sources of money sent home to Pakistan. The open market closed the Saudi riyal at Rs 73.88 to buy and Rs 74.41 to sell on 8 October. The UAE dirham closed at Rs 75.57 to buy and Rs 76.17 to sell. Both were 2 to 3 paisa lower than Wednesday.

| Currency | Open market buying | Open market selling | SBP revaluation rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| US dollar | Rs 277.60 | Rs 278.81 | Rs 277.01 |
| Saudi riyal | Rs 73.88 | Rs 74.41 | Rs 73.79 |
| UAE dirham | Rs 75.57 | Rs 76.17 | Rs 75.43 |
| British pound | Rs 365.78 | Rs 369.50 | Rs 365.56 |
| Euro | Rs 310.08 | Rs 313.28 | Rs 309.89 |
The buying column is what a dealer pays you when you sell foreign currency. So if a relative hands you 1,000 riyals in cash, expect about Rs 73,880 at Thursday's close, less any dealer margin. Money sent through a bank or a licensed app is converted at that provider's own rate. The pound fell the most of the five, by 84 paisa on the buying side and 54 paisa on the selling side.
Forward rates show Rs 291 for a dollar one year out
The same State Bank sheet lists forward revaluation rates. These are the rates banks use to value contracts that settle on a future date. For 8 October, the sheet shows Rs 280.49 for three months ahead, Rs 284.19 for six months and Rs 291.27 for one year.
These are not a forecast of where the rupee will be. A forward rate mostly reflects the gap between Pakistani and US interest rates. Pakistan's rates are higher, so a dollar for future delivery costs more rupees. An importer who books a dollar payment a year ahead pays roughly that premium to lock the rate today.
What to check before you change money today
A gap of a rupee or two from the open market rate is normal. A gap of five rupees or more on a dollar is worth questioning, or walking away from.
- Check the date on any rate you see. Many pages show Wednesday's figure under Thursday's date.
- Ask whether the quote is to buy or to sell. The two differ by more than a rupee.
- Use a licensed exchange company and get a receipt. The rules for buying dollars at a counter include showing your original CNIC.
- For a card payment abroad, check the card's own conversion charge as well as the rate.
If you plan to keep dollars rather than spend them, a bank route such as a dollar account in Pakistan avoids holding cash at home. Our 7 October dollar report has Wednesday's full table.
