PSL 12 Dates Confirmed: 18 March to 2 May 2027, Eight Teams
PSL 12 will be played from 18 March to 2 May 2027 with all eight teams. See what the PSL confirmed, what comes next and why tickets are not on sale yet.

PSL 12 will run from 18 March to 2 May 2027, the Pakistan Super League confirmed on 8 October 2026. All eight franchises return, so the eight-team format stays for a second season. Venues, the match schedule, the player auction and ticket details are not out yet.
We read the PCB media release of 8 October on pcb.com.pk on the morning of 9 October. It settles the question that had been open since the summer: whether PSL 12 would go back to February or stay in the spring. The answer is spring, starting in the third week of March.
PSL 12 runs from 18 March to 2 May 2027
The Pakistan Super League's 12th edition starts on Thursday 18 March 2027 and ends on Sunday 2 May 2027. That is a window of 46 days, counted from the first day to the last, with all eight franchises taking part.
The league says the window came out of talks with every stakeholder after the PSL Governing Council met in London on 1 September 2026. Owners or representatives of all eight teams attended that meeting.
| Item | What the PSL confirmed |
|---|---|
| Start date | Thursday 18 March 2027 |
| End date | Sunday 2 May 2027 |
| Teams | 8, all franchises returning |
| Window decided after | Governing Council meeting, London, 1 September 2026 |
| Venues and fixtures | Not announced |
| Tickets | Not announced |
The release does not give a date for the final. It only says the event closes on 2 May, so treat that as the last possible day of cricket rather than a confirmed final date.

The February option is off the table
Over the summer, two windows were on the table for PSL 12: February to March, or April to May 2027. The confirmed dates sit between the two, starting in mid March and running into early May. February is out.
We set out the two possible PSL 12 windows in August, when no decision had been made. Each one cost the league something. February clashed with Ramadan and other franchise leagues. April and May bring heat, school exams and the IPL, which pulls overseas players away.
The league has not explained the trade-off it chose. Its release talks only about the consultation and the return of all eight teams. So we will not guess which overseas players this window helps or hurts. That will become clear when the auction list comes out.
One practical point for fans is clear. A start on 18 March gives schools and colleges a few weeks before the April and May exam season peaks, but the closing stages will overlap it. Families with students may want to plan around the knockout weeks.
PSL 11 set the bar with eight teams and a record crowd
PSL 11 in 2026 was the first season with eight teams, and the first to use a player auction instead of the old draft. Peshawar Zalmi won it, beating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the final on 3 May 2026.
The PCB release says that final, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, drew a record crowd of 32,461. It also ended a nine-year wait for Zalmi's title.
| PSL 11 fact | Figure |
|---|---|
| Teams | 8, the first time |
| Player selection | First auction, replacing the draft |
| Champions | Peshawar Zalmi |
| Final | Zalmi beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by 5 wickets, 3 May 2026 |
| Final crowd | 32,461 at Gaddafi Stadium |
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said PSL 12 "will raise the bar further". PSL chief executive Salman Naseer called the window "only the first step".

Direct signings, retentions, trades and the auction come next
The PSL says four player milestones will follow the window announcement, in this order: direct signings, retention announcements, the trade window and the player auction. It has not dated any of them.
- Direct signings. Franchises sign chosen players outside the auction.
- Retentions. Teams name the players they keep from PSL 11.
- Trade window. Teams swap players with each other.
- Player auction. The open market fills the remaining squad places, as it did for the first time in 2026.
- Schedule, venues and tickets. The league says these will be announced "in due course".

The auction is the date to watch. It decides which overseas stars commit for the whole season and which only fit in a few games. Babar Azam's ILT20 deal with Desert Vipers is a reminder that Pakistani stars also play in other leagues over the winter.
What fans can and cannot do yet
You can block the dates. You cannot buy a ticket. The PSL has not named a ticket seller, a venue list or prices for PSL 12, so any offer you see now is not official.
Pakistan's own international season fills the gap before then. The October and November cricket schedule has the Sri Lanka T20Is, the ODI tri-series with England and two Tests. Domestic first-class cricket also runs through the winter.
When PSL tickets do go on sale, the PCB announces the seller in a media release first. Wait for that release, then type the address yourself. Do not pay anyone on social media who claims early access.
