Apply for Punjab's School Teacher Internship (STI) online at sti.pesrp.edu.pk by 18 October 2026, 11:59 pm. The policy on the portal pays Rs 38,000 a month at primary level, Rs 40,000 at elementary and Rs 45,000 at high and higher secondary schools.

The School Teacher Internship is a paid placement in a government school run by Punjab's School Education Department. It lasts up to nine months. It is not a permanent job, and it does not lead to one. Only schools in your own tehsil are open to you.

We opened the STI portal, its register page, its FAQ and the policy document it links, on 6 October 2026. Everything below comes from those pages. We did not log in, so we have not seen the list of open internships, which the portal shows only after sign in.

The STI 2026 deadline is 18 October, with interviews at the end of the month

Applications close on 18 October 2026 at 11:59 pm. Schools put up merit lists on 23 October, interviews run on 29 and 30 October, and the final list appears on 31 October. Agreement letters go out through the portal on 2 November.

One thing looks off. The portal calls 18 October 2026 a Wednesday, but that date is a Sunday. Every other date in the schedule matches its weekday. Do not gamble on a correction. Apply before 18 October and the mismatch cannot hurt you.

The portal also says no travel or daily allowance (TA/DA) is paid for coming to an interview.

The stipend runs from Rs 38,000 to Rs 45,000 a month

The policy sets a monthly stipend by school level, paid by crossed cheque. Primary pays Rs 38,000, elementary Rs 40,000, and high and higher secondary Rs 45,000. The figures come from a policy dated 31 January 2025, which is still the one the portal links.

We found no newer stipend notice on the portal. If the department revises the amounts for this round, your letter of agreement will show the figure that applies to you. Check it there before you sign.

Who can apply: age 21 to 45, and the degree depends on the level

You must be 21 to 45 years old. Men, women and transgender candidates can apply. The degree you need depends on the school level, and a B.Ed or M.Ed earns preference at every level. Teaching experience helps but is not required.

  • High and higher secondary: MA, MSc or BS (Hons) in the relevant subject. Preference for an M.Ed or B.Ed.
  • Elementary: MA, MSc, BS (Hons), BA or BSc. Preference for a B.Ed.
  • Primary: at least a BA or BSc. Preference for a B.Ed.

Two limits catch people out. First, men are placed only in boys' schools and women only in girls' schools, according to the portal's FAQ. Transgender interns may be placed in boys', girls' or transgender schools. Second, you can apply only to schools in the tehsil of your permanent address. The policy goes further and says the school should hire a resident of its own village, mouza or ward first, then of a neighbouring union council. The school council checks where you live.

Your permanent address comes from your CNIC. If it is out of date, fix it before you apply, because the portal uses your CNIC as your login.

How to apply on the STI portal

The whole process is online. You make an account, build a profile, then apply to a listed internship. Plan about 30 minutes if your marks and documents are in front of you.

Five steps to apply for the Punjab School Teacher Internship on the STI portal
  1. Go to sti.pesrp.edu.pk and click Register. Enter your 13-digit CNIC number and set a password.
  2. Log in with your CNIC and password.
  3. Open Profile Builder and fill all four tabs: Personal Information, Academics, Work Experience and Professional Qualification.
  4. Open Available Internships and pick a post that matches your degree, your gender and your home tehsil.
  5. Apply, then use Track Application to follow its status.

The FAQ says your profile must be correct and up to date at the moment you apply. Marks entered wrongly will change your merit score, and forged documents make the placement void even after you join.

If you are also looking at other paid placements in the province, the CM Punjab Internship Program and the CBD Punjab Youth Career Program internships run on their own portals and their own dates.

How the merit score is worked out

The school head ranks applicants out of 100 marks. Your degrees carry up to 85, a B.Ed or M.Ed adds 10, and the interview adds 5. Marks for each degree depend on your percentage, with a lower bar for the annual system than for semesters.

PartMaximum marks
BS (or Master 40 plus Bachelor 15)55
Intermediate15
Matric15
B.Ed or M.Ed10
Interview5

Full marks for a degree need 90 per cent or more in a semester system, or 80 per cent or more in an annual system. Each band 10 points lower drops you one level. A BS holder at 75 per cent gets 44 of 55, for example.

Here is a worked case using the policy table. BS at 75 per cent (44), Intermediate at 65 per cent annual (12), Matric at 82 per cent annual (15) and a B.Ed (10) give 81 before the interview. The hiring committee is the school head, an education officer and one parent from the school council.

What the internship does not give you

An STI placement is temporary and tied to one school. The letter of agreement says it gives no right to a regular post and no regularisation, under any circumstances. It cannot be transferred, and it can be ended without a reason given.

Other terms from the letter of agreement: two casual leaves a month with permission, three working days to join after the letter is issued, and an experience certificate at the end. More than seven days of wilful absence in a month is grounds for termination. Interns are for teaching only, and heads are told not to use them for office work.

If you want a permanent teaching post, that comes through separate recruitment. PPSC had no educator recruitment advertised on its jobs page when we checked on 6 October 2026, and the steps for applying for a PPSC job and getting your roll number slip apply once one opens.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 6 October 2026. The schedule, register page and FAQ are from the STI portal of the School Education Department. Eligibility, stipend, merit marks, tenure and agreement terms are from the STI policy linked on that portal, notification No.SO(SE-REC)2-07/2025 dated 31 January 2025. The helpline on the portal is 042-111-11-2020. We did not log in, so we have not checked how many internships are listed in any tehsil.
