Karachi Blues are the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy champions and, with 10 titles, the most successful team in the competition's history. They won the 2025-26 final against Sialkot. The 2026-27 season, which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) calls the 69th edition, began on 3 November, and the Gold final is set for 15 to 19 December.

We went through the result of every Quaid-e-Azam Trophy season since the first one in 1953-54 and checked the edition count against the PCB's own numbering. Below are the winners of the last 16 seasons, the teams with the most titles, how the trophy has changed and how this season's champion will be decided.

Karachi Blues are the defending champions

The PCB's schedule release of 2 November names Karachi Blues as the defending champions. Their 2025-26 title, won against Sialkot in the final, was their 10th. They are one of the eight teams in this season's Gold tier, led by Saud Shakeel.

Quaid-e-Azam Trophy titles by team: Karachi Blues 10, PIA 7, National Bank 5, Karachi Whites 5

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is Pakistan's top first-class competition, which means four-day matches with two innings a side. It is named after Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and has been played since 1953-54, when Bahawalpur won the first final against Punjab.

Every winner from 2010-11 to 2025-26

The last 16 seasons have produced 11 different winners. SNGPL won three titles in four seasons between 2014 and 2018. Sialkot, Karachi Whites and Karachi Blues won the last three.

Karachi Blues lead with 10 titles, PIA have 7

Karachi Blues have 10 titles, the first in 1961-62 and the latest in 2025-26. PIA are second with 7. National Bank and Karachi Whites have 5 each, and United Bank and SNGPL have 4 each.

Karachi teams have won the trophy under several names: Karachi, Karachi A, Karachi Blues, Karachi Whites and Karachi Urban. Counted together, the city has won it more than any other.

Department teams, provinces, then regions again

The trophy has changed shape three times since the 1970s. Each change shows up clearly in the list of winners, so it helps to know them when you read old results.

  • 1970s to 2019: department teams such as PIA, National Bank, United Bank, Habib Bank, SNGPL and WAPDA won most titles, playing alongside city sides.
  • 2019-20 to 2022-23: six provincial association teams, including Central Punjab, Northern, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, replaced them.
  • 2023-24 onwards: regional teams came back, and Karachi Whites, Sialkot and Karachi Blues have won since.

This season adds one more change. Sialkot and Peshawar now field two teams each, as Karachi and Lahore already did, the PCB says.

How the 2026-27 champion will be decided

Only the Gold tier decides the title. The PCB says "winners of the Gold competition will clinch the title of 69th edition". Here is the path, in order:

Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2026-27 title path: Gold league, top two to the final on 15 to 19 December
  1. Eight Gold teams play each other once from 3 November to 12 December.
  2. The top two teams in the Gold table reach the final, from 15 to 19 December.
  3. The winner of that final is the 2026-27 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy champion.
  4. Separately, the 12-team Silver tier has its own final on 3 to 7 December, and the Silver winner is promoted to Gold for next season.

The eight Gold teams are Karachi Blues, Faisalabad, FATA, Lahore Whites, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan and Sialkot Blues. The fixtures are in our Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2026-27 schedule, the players in our squads list, and the first Silver results in our report on Lahore Blues and Quetta's opening wins.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We compiled the list of winners on 5 November 2026 from the competition's season-by-season records, and checked the current champion, the 69th edition number, this season's teams and dates against the PCB release "Schedule and team rosters announced for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold and Silver", dated Lahore, 2 November 2026, on the PCB website. Our count of 68 earlier editions matches the PCB's numbering. Title counts by team are our own from the season list. The runners-up for older seasons were not on a PCB page we could find.
