Roshan Apni Car lets an overseas Pakistani with a Roshan Digital Account finance a car for family in Pakistan, applying online through their own bank. SBP sets the ceiling rates: SBP floor rate plus 1% on a lien-backed loan, or KIBOR plus 1% without a lien. Bank Alfalah, one participating bank, finances PKR 200,000 to PKR 7.5 million over 2 to 7 years.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) runs the scheme with participating banks. We read SBP's Roshan Apni Car page and Bank Alfalah's product page on 29 September 2026. SBP says the whole application is digital, with no paperwork, and that the car arrives in 50% less time than usual.

You need the account first. If you have not got one, start with opening a Roshan Digital Account from abroad, because Roshan Apni Car only runs through the bank that holds it.

Who can use Roshan Apni Car

Only non-resident Pakistanis who hold a Roshan Digital Account (RDA) can apply, and only at the bank where that account sits. Each bank then sets its own income, age and document rules. At Bank Alfalah you also need a local nominee in Pakistan.

SBP's page describes the scheme as a way to "provide cars for their family members in Pakistan." It does not set one national eligibility list. So the rules below are Bank Alfalah's, as stated on its own page, and another bank's may differ.

Bank Alfalah ruleSalariedSelf-employed
Age at loan maturity21 to 6521 to 70
Minimum incomeUSD 3,000 a month or equivalentUSD 4,000 a month or equivalent
Work history6 months total experience1 year in current business
Financing amountPKR 200,000 to PKR 7,500,000
Tenure2 to 7 years
Down payment15% standard, 0% with a full lien

The car must be brand new and locally manufactured, Bank Alfalah says. So an imported used car is not part of this. That route has its own rules and duties.

Roshan Apni Car rates: lien and non-lien

SBP publishes four pricing formulas. With a lien, the floating rate is SBP's floor rate plus 1% and the fixed rate is COD, the bank's cost of deposits, plus 1%. Without a lien, floating is KIBOR plus 1% and fixed is PKRV plus 1.5%.

A lien means the bank freezes money equal to the loan in your RDA, or in your Naya Pakistan Certificates, until the loan ends. You keep the savings, but you cannot spend them. In return you get the cheapest rate, and at Bank Alfalah no down payment at all.

KIBOR is the Karachi Interbank Offered Rate, the benchmark most Pakistani car loans follow. PKRV is a government securities benchmark. We have not quoted today's numbers, because they move. SBP links its own KIBOR page and floor rate history from the scheme page.

Rate typeWith a lienWithout a lien
FloatingSBP floor rate + 1%KIBOR + 1%
FixedCOD + 1%PKRV + 1.5%

SBP adds a useful line about fixed loans. The price stays the same until maturity once you are locked in. But if the market moves before the financing starts, the bank can offer a revised price at the start.

Bank Alfalah's own terms apply the one-year KIBOR offer rate on the first of the month, and the SBP floor rate prevailing at disbursement. Compare it against an ordinary car loan in Pakistan before you choose, since the lien option changes the sums.

How to book a car through Roshan Apni Car

Log in to your RDA bank's app or website, open the car financing option and fill in the application. At Bank Alfalah that is nine screens, from identity check to vehicle details and terms. There are no papers to post, SBP says.

  1. Log in to your bank's RDA app or website and verify your identity.
  2. Enter your personal and contact details.
  3. Add your employment or business details.
  4. Enter your income details.
  5. Add your nominee or co-borrower in Pakistan.
  6. Choose the car and enter its details.
  7. Accept the two undertakings and the terms and conditions, then submit.
Steps to apply for Roshan Apni Car through a bank app

Keep these ready before you start. Bank Alfalah asks for a copy of your CNIC, NICOP, POC or Smart ID, a recent photo and your nominee's CNIC. Salaried applicants add a salary slip, a credit bureau report from their country of residence and a tax return. Self-employed applicants add tax returns, 6 months of bank statements and a business registration where it applies.

Check that your NICOP or POC is still valid before you upload it, since the bank works from that copy.

Delivery to family in Pakistan

The scheme is built so the car reaches your family in Pakistan while you stay abroad. SBP says delivery takes about half the usual time. Your local nominee is the person on the ground, and Bank Alfalah makes naming one mandatory.

The pages we read do not say whose name the car is registered in, or how the handover works at the dealer. Ask your bank both questions in writing before you pay anything. The answer matters for insurance, for token tax and for who can sell the car later.

Registration and tax are not part of the loan price either. Budget for advance tax on a new car and the province's registration charges on top.

Questions to ask your bank before booking a Roshan Apni Car

Which banks offer Roshan Apni Car

SBP says the scheme runs with "participating banks" but its car page does not list them. Bank Alfalah has a live Roshan Apni Car page. For any other bank, check its own RDA page or app for a car financing option before assuming it is offered.

SBP's main RDA page links the RDA pages of banks including Allied Bank, Askari, Bank Alfalah, Bank AL Habib, Bank of Punjab, Dubai Islamic, Faysal, Habib Metro, HBL, JS Bank, Meezan, Samba, Standard Chartered and UBL. That list is for the account, not proof that each one finances cars.

If your bank does not answer, SBP takes questions about the RDA programme at RDASupport@sbp.org.pk.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 29 September 2026. The scheme description, the digital application, the 50% faster delivery claim, the four rate formulas, the fixed-rate repricing rule and the RDASupport email are read on SBP's Roshan Apni Car page. The list of RDA banks is read on SBP's Roshan Digital Account page. Financing limits, tenure, equity, lien rules, age and income criteria, documents and the nine application steps are read on Bank Alfalah's Roshan Apni Car page. Other banks' car pages either blocked automated reading or did not load, so we have not quoted their terms. We did not apply for a loan.
