Registration closed on 22 September 2026. Passing needs the 75th percentile, and the PGET is now mandatory for every Level III MD, MS, MDS and FCPS induction in Punjab's public sector for the January 2027 intake.
We read the UHS PGET 2026 advertisement on the UHS public notices page on 9 October 2026. If you registered, the next job is simple: download your admit card from 15 October and plan the trip to your test city. Who the PGET is for: Level III MD, MS, MDS and FCPS in Punjab
The PGET decides entry to Level III postgraduate medical and dental programmes in public sector institutions under the Central Induction Policy (CIP) of the Government of Punjab. UHS says passing it is mandatory for induction into MD, MS, MDS and FCPS from the January 2027 intake.
The eligibility list in the advertisement has six conditions:
- An MBBS or BDS degree from an institution recognised by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC).
- A completed one-year house job in a PM&DC recognised hospital.
- Valid permanent PM&DC registration.
- A Punjab domicile for open merit and disability quota seats.
- Age under 40 on the last date of applying.
- For foreign candidates, an NOC or study visa from the Ministry of Interior, or an NOC from the Home Department.
Graduates who studied abroad should check their PMDC position early. Our explainer on PMDC registration for MBBS abroad sets out the licensing steps that come before any postgraduate test.
PGET 2026 paper pattern: two papers of 100 MCQs
The PGET has two papers of 100 marks each, both two hours long and both multiple choice. Paper I tests basic sciences from the MBBS or BDS curriculum. Paper II is specialty specific. The minimum passing score is the 75th percentile.
| Paper | Marks | Time on 25 October | Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | 100 MCQs | 10:00 am to 12:00 noon | Basic sciences, separate papers for medical and dental |
| Paper II | 100 MCQs | 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm | Specialty specific |
A percentile is not a percentage. The 75th percentile means you must score better than 75 per cent of the candidates who sat the paper. So the pass mark moves with the field. A tough paper can still be passed with modest raw marks if everyone found it hard.
PGET marks carry 75 per cent weight in the admission merit. That makes the test the biggest single part of your induction score. UHS has published a Table of Specifications (ToS) for the PGET on its website, which shows how questions are spread across topics.

Specialties covered by PGET 2026
MBBS graduates sit Paper II in their chosen specialty group. BDS graduates sit dental specialty papers. The groups listed by UHS are below.
- MBBS: Pathology, Ophthalmology, Paediatric Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anaesthesia, ENT, Medicine and Allied, Psychiatry, Radiology.
- Surgery and Allied Group I: General Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery.
- Surgery and Allied Group II: General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery.
- BDS: Prosthodontics, Operative Dentistry, Periodontology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics.
How to get your PGET admit card and prepare for test day
The admit card comes from the same UHS portal you registered on. Follow these steps from 15 October.
- Log in at admissions.uhs.edu.pk/pget with the account you used to register.
- Download and print your admit card or roll number slip from 15 October 2026.
- Check your name, specialty and test city. Write to pget@uhs.edu.pk at once if anything is wrong.
- Read the Table of Specifications on uhs.edu.pk and plan revision around it.
- Reach your centre in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan or Rawalpindi well before 10:00 am on 25 October, with your printed admit card.
- Stay for Paper II at 1:00 pm. Both papers are on the same day.

Passing the PGET does not give you a seat. UHS says admission still depends on eligibility, merit, seat availability and the other rules of the Central Induction Policy. An application found to have false information can be rejected at any stage.
