Upwork Fees in Pakistan 2026: 0 to 15% Service Fee, US$0.99 to Withdraw
Upwork's service fee is 0% to 15% per contract. A Pakistani bank withdrawal costs US$0.99, Connects US$0.15 each. Every fee, limit and wait time, from Upwork.
Upwork takes a Freelancer Service Fee of 0% to 15% on each contract, and you see the exact rate before you send a proposal. Withdrawing to a Pakistani bank with Direct to Local Bank costs US$0.99 a transfer, with a US$5 minimum and a US$8,999 limit. Connects, which you spend to apply for jobs, cost US$0.15 each.
Those three numbers decide most of what a Pakistani freelancer pays Upwork. The fee is not one flat rate. It changes from contract to contract, so the number to check is the one on your proposal screen.

Upwork's service fee is 0% to 15% per contract
Upwork charges each contract its own Freelancer Service Fee, somewhere between 0% and 15%. The rate shows up when you write a proposal or receive an offer. Once the contract starts, it is locked and does not change for that contract.
Upwork says the rate depends on "factors that help support a balanced and competitive environment across different types of work". It does not publish a formula. So two jobs in the same week can carry different fees, and you should read the rate before you bid.
Upwork's built-in rate calculator shows your take-home pay as you type. Its own example: to keep US$20 an hour at a 10% fee, you charge the client US$22.22. If the client later gets a refund, Upwork returns the service fee on that refunded amount.

Upwork says it offers no regular discounts on the fee.
Withdrawing to a Pakistani bank costs US$0.99
Direct to Local Bank sends your dollars straight to a bank account in Pakistan. Upwork charges US$0.99 a withdrawal, and your bank may add its own incoming fee. Upwork sets Pakistan's minimum at US$5 and the maximum at US$8,999 for each withdrawal.
Money should arrive within four business days. Upwork processes same-day transfers only before 12:00 noon UTC, which is 5 pm in Pakistan. A request after that moves to the next business day, and bank holidays in the US or Pakistan can add delay.

Payoneer is faster but has two layers of cost. Upwork charges its own per-transfer fee, and Payoneer then charges its fees for conversion and moving money to your bank. Our breakdown of Payoneer fees for Pakistani users covers that second layer.
Connects cost US$0.15 each
Connects are Upwork's tokens for sending proposals. Each one costs US$0.15, sold in bundles. The number a job needs is shown on the job post, and Upwork says it can change while the job is open.
Connects also pay for boosted proposals, which push your proposal to the top of the client's list, and the Availability Badge. Upwork needs a verified billing method on your account before you can buy Connects, even if you pay from your earnings. New freelancers get some free Connects as rewards.
Freelancer Plus, the paid plan, includes 100 Connects a month. Upwork shows its price only after you sign in, so check it under your profile before you subscribe.
How to set up the cheapest withdrawal from Pakistan
Add your tax information first, then a withdrawal method under Settings, then Withdrawals. Every new method sits on a three day security hold before it works. The account name must match your verified Upwork name, including middle names.
- Sign in to Upwork and enter your tax information.
- Go to Account settings, then Withdrawals.
- Under Withdrawal methods, choose Add a method.
- Pick Direct to Local Bank and enter your Pakistani bank details.
- Check the account number and name twice, then click Next.
- Wait three days for the method to activate, then withdraw.
Upwork flags a withdrawal method when the names do not match. If your bank account says "Muhammad" and Upwork says "Muhammad Ali Khan", fix one of them first. Upwork lets you add a second method as a backup, which helps if your bank rejects a transfer.
A worked example on a US$500 job
Say you finish a US$500 fixed-price job with a 10% service fee. Upwork takes US$50, so US$450 reaches your Upwork balance. Funds clear five days after the client approves the milestone. A Direct to Local Bank withdrawal then costs US$0.99, leaving US$449.01 before your bank's own charges.
On hourly contracts, hours are billed weekly from Monday to Sunday, and the money is available 10 days later, on the following Wednesday.
Pakistani tax is a separate step. Your bank deducts tax on foreign remittances, and the rate is lower if you hold PSEB registration as a freelancer. A freelancer digital account also lets you keep part of your earnings in dollars.
