To change your Zong package, dial *310# or call 310, and choose Zong 20, Zong 30 or the Economy package. Zong says the first change is free and every change after that costs Rs 15 plus tax. The three packages differ only in how calls are counted: in 20 second, 30 second or 60 second pulses. Below are the rates for each, which one saves money for the way you call, and the SMS route Zong lists for the switch.

We read the Zong 20, Zong 30 and Economy package pages on zong.com.pk on 24 October 2026. The per-minute and per-call costs below are our arithmetic from Zong's printed rates.

Zong package change code is *310#, and the first change is free

Dial *310# from your Zong prepaid SIM, or call 310, to switch package. Zong's Zong 20 page also lists "SMS Sub to 931". The first package change is free; each later change costs Rs 15 plus tax.

  1. Decide which package suits your calls, using the tables below.
  2. Dial *310# and follow the menu, or call 310 and ask the agent.
  3. Or, for Zong 20, send "Sub" to 931 as listed on that package page.
  4. Wait for the confirmation SMS naming your new package.
  5. Do not switch back and forth: from the second change, each switch costs Rs 15 plus tax.

Changing the package does not cancel bundles you already bought. The base rate only applies to calls made when no bundle is active, or after the bundle minutes run out.

Zong 20, Zong 30 and Economy rates side by side

Zong 20 charges Rs 0.99 plus tax per 20 seconds. Zong 30 charges Rs 1.38 plus tax per 30 seconds. Economy charges Rs 2.68 plus tax per minute. All three charge Rs 1.80 plus tax per SMS and Rs 4 plus tax per MB.

Zong 3030 secondsRs 1.38 + taxRs 2.76 + taxRs 1.80 + taxRs 4 + tax per MB
Economy60 secondsRs 2.68 + taxRs 2.68 + taxRs 1.80 + taxRs 4 + tax per MB

The rate is the same for calls to Zong and to other networks on all three packages. Every call also carries a setup fee of Rs 0.15, which Zong prints on each package page.

Zong 20, Zong 30 and Economy compared: pulse length and rate per pulse before tax

Short calls are cheapest on Zong 20, long calls on Economy

A 15 second call costs Rs 0.99 on Zong 20, Rs 1.38 on Zong 30 and Rs 2.68 on Economy, before tax. A full five minute call costs Rs 14.85, Rs 13.80 and Rs 13.40. Pick by the length of your usual call.

Call lengthZong 20Zong 30Economy
15 secondsRs 0.99Rs 1.38Rs 2.68
40 secondsRs 1.98Rs 2.76Rs 2.68
70 secondsRs 3.96Rs 4.14Rs 5.36
5 minutesRs 14.85Rs 13.80Rs 13.40

All figures are before tax and before the Rs 0.15 setup fee. Somebody who makes many quick calls, such as "I'm outside, come down", loses money on a 60 second pulse because every short call is billed as a full minute.

The five minute row is Economy's best case, because the call ends exactly on a minute. Real calls rarely do. On our arithmetic, with a call ending at a random second, Economy only beats Zong 30 once your typical call runs past about eight minutes.

  • Mostly calls under a minute: Zong 20.
  • A mix of short and medium calls: Zong 30.
  • Mostly long calls of ten minutes or more: Economy.

The same pulse logic applies on every network; the default rates on Jazz, Ufone and Telenor are compared in call, SMS and data rates without a package.

A bundle beats any Zong package for regular callers

If you call every day, a call bundle costs far less than any base package. Zong's Maheena Bhar Mouj gives 3,000 all-network minutes for Rs 750, about Rs 0.25 a minute, against Rs 2.68 or more on the base rates.

So the package you choose matters most for people who rarely buy bundles, or for the calls made after a bundle runs out. A heavy caller should compare the Zong call packages first, and treat the base package as the fallback rate.

Data works the same way. At Rs 4 plus tax per MB, a single 100 MB video session costs about Rs 400 before tax on the base rate. The Zong balance save code stops data eating your balance when no data bundle is active.

Steps to change a Zong package: choose the plan, dial *310# or call 310, confirm by SMS, avoid repeat changes

Common questions

What is the Zong package change code?

Dial *310# or call 310. Zong lists both on its Zong 20, Zong 30 and Economy package pages.

How much does it cost to change a Zong package?

The first change is free. Every change after that costs Rs 15 plus tax, according to Zong.

What is the Zong 20 package rate?

Rs 0.99 plus tax per 20 second pulse to any network, which is Rs 2.97 plus tax for a full minute.

Which Zong package is best for short calls?

Zong 20, because it bills in 20 second pulses. A 15 second call costs Rs 0.99 plus tax instead of a full minute.

Does changing my Zong package remove my bundle?

Zong's pages do not say it does. The base package rate applies to usage outside a bundle, so check with 310 before switching if you have a large bundle running.

Can I go back to my old Zong package?

Yes, by dialling *310# again, but it counts as another change and costs Rs 15 plus tax.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Zong's Zong 20 package page, Zong 30 package page and Economy package page on 24 October 2026. The Economy page prints an advance income tax rate of 12.5 percent on recharge in one note and 15 percent in its terms, and mentions a friends and family feature for a "Circle Tariff" without saying whether Economy users get it, so we left that out. We could not find a Zong code that shows which package you are on now; ask on 310. We did not change any package.
