Amazon KDP Payment in Pakistan: Direct Deposit in PKR, No Minimum and When Royalties Arrive (2026)

Amazon KDP pays Pakistani authors by direct deposit straight into a Pakistani bank account in rupees, with no minimum payment, about 60 days after the end of the month in which a sale is reported. Pakistan is on KDP's own list of direct deposit countries, so you do not need Payoneer, Wise or a foreign bank to get your royalties.

That surprises a lot of people, because older advice tells Pakistani writers to route KDP money through a third party. KDP pays Pakistan by direct deposit in PKR

KDP's payment options page lists Pakistan under Asia-Oceania with direct deposit in PKR. Amazon says direct deposit has no minimum payment threshold and is the fastest, most secure way to receive royalties. Wire and cheque are slower and come with minimums.

Pakistan sits in the same direct deposit group as India, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Japan. In the same table, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria and Jordan get wire transfer only. So on this point Pakistani authors are better placed than many.

Royalties earned in another currency, such as pounds from Amazon.co.uk or euros from Amazon.de, are converted by Amazon at its own rate, which already includes all conversion fees. You see rupees in your bank, not dollars.

Royalties arrive about 60 days after the sales month ends

KDP pays monthly, roughly 60 days after the end of the month in which a sale was reported. Sales through Expanded Distribution take 90 days. So January royalties are paid at the end of March, and a direct deposit then takes 1 to 5 business days to show in your account.

1. A reader buys your book on any day in January.
2. KDP reports the sale for January.
3. January closes. The 60 day wait starts.
4. KDP issues the January payment at the end of March.
5. The rupees reach your Pakistani bank within 1 to 5 business days.

That gap is the part new authors find hardest. Your first sale in November will not pay until late January. Plan for it, and do not assume a missing payment in December means something is wrong.

Wire and cheque minimums apply per marketplace

If you pick wire or cheque instead of direct deposit, KDP holds each marketplace's royalties until they pass that marketplace's threshold, such as 100 USD on Amazon.com or 100 GBP on Amazon.co.uk. Smaller balances roll over as a running total. Direct deposit avoids this completely.

Here is why that matters. Say you earn 30 dollars a month on Amazon.com and 20 pounds on Amazon.co.uk. On wire, the dollars wait about four months to cross 100, and the pounds wait five. On direct deposit, both pay every month, however small. Wires can also carry receiving fees at your bank.

Set up the Pakistani bank account before your first sale

Add a Pakistani bank account in your KDP account's payment settings and choose direct deposit. Use an account in your own name that can receive foreign remittances, and finish KDP's tax interview, which decides how much US tax is withheld from your royalties.

• Use your own account. The name on the bank account should match the name on your KDP account and tax details.
• Use a PKR account that accepts inward remittances. Ask your branch to confirm before you enter it.
• Finish the tax interview. KDP uses it to set US withholding. The US has a tax treaty with Pakistan, and the rate is shown at the end of the interview. We could not read KDP's tax page to confirm the rate it applies.
• Keep the payment advice. Each deposit is foreign income you may need to prove later.

Prove the income once the rupees land

KDP royalties arrive as a foreign remittance, so ask your bank for a proceeds realisation certificate and declare the income in your tax return. Keeping both from the first payment saves a scramble when FBR or your bank asks where the money came from.

Pakistani banks issue a PRC or e-PRC for inward remittances, and the request route for freelancers is in getting an e-PRC from your bank. Royalties go into the annual return alongside any other online income, set out in a freelancer's income tax return.

If a deposit does not arrive within five business days of the payment date, check the bank details in KDP first. A wrong account number or IBAN is one cause to rule out, and your bank can tell you whether a remittance arrived and was returned.
