To get an AIOU degree or certificate, AIOU's examination page asks for four things: a filled degree form, a fee challan covering the degree fee and any reappear fee, an official copy of your PRC or transcript, and attested copies of your earlier certificates or degrees. A gazetted officer must attest them.

An AIOU result is not a degree. After the final result you apply separately, and a missing paper is the usual reason a file comes back. We read AIOU's Certificate/Degree Processing Requirements page and the Degree Tracking System (DTS) home page on 21 October 2026. The AIOU home page still links to the requirements notice, but the page itself is dated 20 January 2023, so read it as the current checklist and not as a promise about fees.

AIOU asks for four documents with every degree application

The requirements page lists a duly filled degree form, a fee challan, an official copy of the PRC or transcript for the certificate or degree you want, and attested copies of any previous certificates or degrees you have completed.

#DocumentWhat AIOU says
1Degree formDuly filled
2Fee challanCovers the degree fee and any reappear fee
3PRC or transcriptOfficial copy for the certificate or degree you request
4Earlier certificates or degreesAttested copies, if you have completed any

The page does not give the fee amount. It says only that the challan covers the degree fee and the reappear fee, if you have one. Ask AIOU for the current amount before you pay.

The four documents AIOU asks for with a degree or certificate application

A gazetted officer must attest the copies and show name and designation

AIOU says the attested copies must be attested by a gazetted officer, and the stamp must show the officer's name and designation. A stamp with only a signature may be rejected, which would waste weeks on a returned file.

A gazetted officer is a senior government officer whose appointment is published in the official gazette. AIOU's page does not give a grade, so ask your regional office who qualifies. For the attestation of school certificates, see how to attest Matric and Inter certificates with IBCC.

Track the application on the AIOU Degree Tracking System

AIOU runs a Degree Tracking System at dts.aiou.edu.pk, run by its Directorate of ICT with the Examinations Department. The home page offers links for incomplete or returned applications, applications in process, and an online application.

We could not see inside the tracking screens, so we do not know which details you must type in. The page does not describe it. Start from "In Process Applications" to check a file you submitted, and "Incomplete / Returned Applications" if AIOU says something is missing.

The DTS page shows a notice about FIR and newspaper cutting that it does not explain

The DTS home page carries a heading that mentions an FIR, a newspaper cutting, an Astaam paper and "by name all documents". It does not say when it applies. We have not assumed it, and we advise you to ask AIOU if your case involves lost documents.

If you are unsure, email first. A wrong guess here means a returned file. For a lost school certificate rather than an AIOU one, see how to get a duplicate FBISE certificate or mark sheet.

  1. Wait for your final result to be declared.
  2. Fill the degree form completely.
  3. Generate and pay the fee challan.
  4. Collect the PRC or transcript and attested copies.
  5. Submit the file, then track it on DTS.

Check your file before you submit it

Most returned files fail on small things. Before you send anything, go through the four documents one by one. Check that the name on the form matches the name on your PRC or transcript, that the challan is the right one and that every copy you attach carries the attesting officer's name and designation.

Keep photocopies of the whole file and a note of the date you sent it. If the file comes back, the Incomplete or Returned section of the tracking system is where AIOU lists it, so you can see what is missing and send it again without starting over. We saw the section links on the page but could not see what a returned record displays.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 21 October 2026. The document list, attestation rule and contacts come from the AIOU certificate and degree processing requirements page, posted 20 January 2023, and the Degree Tracking System home page, both read on 21 October 2026. We could not verify the fee amounts, processing time, the grade of gazetted officer, or what the FIR notice means. We did not apply.
