The University of Karachi takes reserved seat forms for its 2027 morning admissions online from 21 to 31 October 2026, with a Rs 5,000 processing fee. The quota covers sports, KU employees, special persons, armed forces, Gilgit-Baltistan and northern areas, AJK, interior Sindh, Balochistan, minorities and advocates' children. Each quota needs its own proof, and some need a nomination from outside the university. A reserved seat form is separate from your open merit form.

We read KU's reserved seats notice dated 19 October 2026, its admissions schedule and the reserved seat rules in its Prospectus 2027 on 20 October. The single most useful line in the prospectus is this: "merit is the only criterion for obtaining admissions even for the reserved seats." A quota widens the door. It does not hold it open for a weak score.

KU reserved seat forms open from 21 to 31 October 2026

Submit the reserved seat form online at uokadmission.edu.pk between 21 and 31 October 2026. KU's schedule lists a Rs 5,000 processing fee. The prospectus says reserved seat candidates must submit a separate reserved seat form, or the quota claim is not considered.

For a department that admits by entry test, only students who applied for that test and sat it can choose it on a reserved seat. That rule is in the notice of 19 October. Open merit departments, which admit on intermediate marks, do not have that condition.

Each quota at KU needs its own proof

Every reserved category has a different test of eligibility. Some quotas are decided inside KU on documents. Gilgit-Baltistan, northern areas, AJK and armed forces seats need a nomination from a federal office or from General Headquarters before KU can admit you.

QuotaWhat the prospectus asks for
GB, northern areas, AJKNomination by the Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Division, Islamabad
Children of armed forces personnelNomination from General Headquarters
Special personsMedical certificate from the Social Welfare Department, Sindh, or a civil surgeon
SportsSports certificates showing play at the listed levels
KU employees and dependentsStatement of employment certified by the head of department
MinoritiesNADRA birth certificate
Advocates' childrenVerification by the authorities concerned
Interior Sindh and BalochistanDomicile of that area and all education from there

Nomination quotas move on someone else's clock. If you are applying from Gilgit-Baltistan or AJK, ask the Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Division how its nomination round works for 2027 as soon as you file the KU form.

Proof needed for each University of Karachi reserved seat quota in 2027

Interior Sindh has 90 seats and Balochistan 60

KU sets aside 90 seats for students from Sindh outside Karachi, on top of its S category, and 60 seats for Balochistan. In both cases you need a domicile of that area and your whole education from there.

The other quotas are percentages. The prospectus gives an extra 2 per cent of seats in each department for KU employees and their dependents, special persons, sports persons and minorities. It does not make clear whether that 2 per cent is shared or given to each group. The sports rule, set out separately, is 2 per cent in each department. Advocates' children get an extra 5 per cent, but only in the School of Law.

KU employees' quota covers the employee, spouse, sons and daughters, and real brothers and sisters, according to the prospectus.

Sports quota needs play at national or board level

KU's sports quota is 2 per cent in each department. You qualify only if you played for a Pakistan junior or senior team, a Pakistan university or board team, or won or were runner-up at national, inter-provincial, inter-university or inter-board level.

  1. Gather your sports certificates for the highest level you played.
  2. Make clear scans. The prospectus says sports applicants upload certificates and supporting documents.
  3. Fill the reserved seat form between 21 and 31 October and pick the sports quota.
  4. Pay the Rs 5,000 processing fee through the portal.
  5. Keep the originals. KU verifies eligibility against its own standards before it grants the seat.

A school sports day certificate will not meet this list. The levels are national and board-wide, so a district medal alone is unlikely to be enough.

Steps to apply for the University of Karachi sports or reserved seat quota 2027

Special persons need a medical certificate before the seat is granted

KU grants special persons' seats only after a medical examination and verification by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, or a civil surgeon. Get the certificate early, because it is a condition of the seat, not a formality after it.

Many Sindh students already hold a disability assessment certificate from the Sindh DEPD, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. KU's prospectus names the Social Welfare Department instead, so ask the admissions office whether it will accept the DEPD certificate before the form closes.

Students who are also applying on open merit should keep both forms alive. The KU open merit admission dates and the test-based admission list of 19 October run on their own tracks.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read KU's Urdu notice on reserved seats for morning admissions 2027, dated 19 October 2026, the admissions schedule dated 17 September 2026 and the reserved seat sections of the University of Karachi Prospectus 2027 on 20 October 2026, all linked from the KU admissions page. We could not read the appendix pages that list seats per department, because they are images. We did not confirm how the Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Division or GHQ run their 2027 nominations.
