Apply for the Punjab Solar Tube Well Subsidy: Rs 500,000 to Rs 1 Million, Rules and Steps
Punjab pays Rs 500,000 for 10 kW, Rs 750,000 for 15 kW and Rs 1 million for 20 kW solar tube wells. See the 1 acre rule, papers needed and how to apply.

Punjab pays Rs 500,000 towards a 10 kW solar system for a farmer's tube well, Rs 750,000 for 15 kW and Rs 1 million for 20 kW. You need at least 1 acre in the district where you apply, a CNIC and a Fard. Apply at cmstp.punjab.gov.pk or call 0800-17000.
A diesel tube well can eat a farmer's profit before the crop is cut. The Punjab government wants to convert 8,000 tube wells, electric and diesel, to solar power, and it will pay a large part of the cost. We read the rules on the Punjab government portal on 11 October 2026.
When we tried the application site, cmstp.punjab.gov.pk, it returned a server error, so we could not see whether applications are open today. Call the helpline before you spend money on any quote.

The subsidy depends on the size of the solar system
The Punjab government sets three fixed subsidy amounts. They are linked to the system's power in kilowatts (kW), not to the farmer's land. The government's initiative page puts the total subsidy pool at Rs 9 billion for a first phase of 8,000 tube wells.
| Solar system size | Government subsidy |
|---|---|
| 10 kW | Rs 500,000 |
| 15 kW | Rs 750,000 |
| 20 kW | Rs 1,000,000 |
The subsidy is not the full price. You pay the balance to the vendor you choose. The pages we read do not give a total system price, so get written quotes from vendors in your district.
The government's page expects savings of over Rs 10,000 a day and over Rs 300,000 a month per farmer. Treat that as the government's estimate. Your saving depends on how many hours you run the pump and what you pay now for diesel or electricity.
Who can apply for the tube well subsidy
The Punjab portal lists the conditions. You must live in Punjab, own at least 1 acre in the district where you apply, and attach your Fard-e-Malakiat. Only one system is given per family. Owners of electric tube wells need extra proof.
- You are a Punjab resident, with a valid CNIC copy.
- You own at least 1 acre of land in Punjab, in the revenue area of the same district where you apply, shown by a Fard-e-Malakiat (land ownership record).
- One farmer gets one system from a family.
- The system must be 10, 15 or 20 kW.
For an electric tube well there are three more tests. You must hold the connection and attach your last paid bill, and defaulters are not considered. The connection must have been installed on or before 30 October 2024. And it must be a three-phase connection. A diesel tube well has none of those three conditions on the page.

Papers to collect before you apply
You need your CNIC copy, your Fard-e-Malakiat, and for an electric tube well your latest paid electricity bill. The Fard is your land ownership record from the land records office, and it must match the district you apply in.
If your Fard is old or you do not have one, get it first. How to get a Fard of your land in Punjab shows the online route. If the tube well is not yet connected, getting a tube well electricity connection explains that separate process, though the 2024 cut-off date above matters for this scheme.
How to apply
The portal says farmers can apply for solarization online at cmstp.punjab.gov.pk, and that an application form can be downloaded from the page. The government also publishes the form on the agriculture department site. Successful applicants choose their own vendor within their district.
- Check the rules and keep your CNIC, Fard and bill ready.
- Open cmstp.punjab.gov.pk and fill in the application.
- Choose the size, 10, 15 or 20 kW, that fits your pump.
- Attach the papers and submit.
- If you are approved, choose a vendor in your district for the installation.
Pick the size by the pump's real load. A bigger system earns a bigger subsidy but costs you more of your own money, and a system that is too large for the pump is wasted.

Avoid the scams around a subsidy
Any scheme with a large subsidy attracts agents who promise a "guaranteed approval" for a fee. The portal lists no agent and no fee. Use only the official address, and ring the helpline 0800-17000, which the portal says runs from 8 am to 8 pm.
Do not pay a vendor in advance on the promise of an approval. Ask the helpline whether the vendor is accepted for your district. And if you also farm crops, Punjab's six schemes for farmers run on separate applications.
Common questions
How much does Punjab pay for a solar tube well?
Rs 500,000 for 10 kW, Rs 750,000 for 15 kW and Rs 1 million for 20 kW, according to the Punjab portal.
How much land do I need?
At least 1 acre, in the same district where you apply, with a Fard-e-Malakiat as proof.
Does it work for a diesel tube well?
Yes. The scheme covers both diesel and electric tube wells, and the extra connection tests apply only to electric ones.
Can two brothers in one family both get a system?
The rule says one farmer gets one facility from the family.
Are applications open now?
We could not confirm. The application site returned a server error when we checked, so call 0800-17000.
Do I choose the solar vendor?
Yes. The government's page says successful applicants select their own vendor within their district.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We checked this on 11 October 2026. We read the Punjab government portal page on the CM Solarization Program for Agri Tubewells, which gives the subsidy table, the eligibility rules, the application address and the helpline. We read the Directorate General of Public Relations page on the programme for the Rs 9 billion pool and the savings estimate. The application site cmstp.punjab.gov.pk returned a server error, so we could not confirm whether the application window is open, and we did not apply.
