You apply for a TEVTA course in Punjab on TEVTA's online admission form at portal.tevta.gop.pk. A six month vocational course costs Rs 2,206 in fixed charges for 2026-27. Six month courses start twice a year, in October and in the first week of April.

TEVTA, the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, runs Punjab's government technical colleges and vocational institutes. Its courses teach practical trades, engineering diplomas and IT skills, and the fees are a few thousand rupees a year.

We read TEVTA's 2026-27 fee notification, its academic calendars and its online admission form on 1 October 2026, along with the new law that changed TEVTA's status in September. The fee notification is a scanned document, so we read it page by page.

TEVTA course types and who they suit

TEVTA has four main kinds of institute. Technical training institutes run one and two year courses. Vocational institutes for girls run three month to two year courses. Training centres run short courses up to six months, and apprenticeship centres train workers hired by industry.

InstituteWhat it offers
Government Technical Training Institute (GTTI)12 month (G-III) and 24 month (G-II) courses
Government Vocational Training Institute (GVTI)For girls only, 3 to 24 month courses
Government Technical Training Centre (GTTC)Short courses up to 6 months, some in district jails
Apprenticeship Training Centre (ATC)For apprentices hired in industry, G-III and G-II levels
Government College of Technology (GCT)DAE, the Diploma of Associate Engineering

The online form sorts courses by the education you need to join: primary based, middle based, matriculation based, and DAE. So a student who left school after class 8 can still find a course. TEVTA says its DAE is equal to FSc pre-engineering. The wider choice between these technical education routes depends on whether you want work in Pakistan or abroad.

How to apply for a TEVTA course online

Open the online admission form, pick your category, shift, district, institute and course, then submit your details. You can track the application on the same portal. The fee is paid later through a Bank of Punjab e-challan, never in cash.

  1. Find a course. Use TEVTA's admission guide to filter by district, men, women or co-education, course length and trade.
  2. Open the form. Go to the TEVTA online admission form.
  3. Choose the category. DAE, matriculation based, middle based or primary based.
  4. Pick shift, district and institute. Then select one or more courses. Every field is required.
  5. Submit and save the details. Use "Find Admission Application" on the portal to check progress.
  6. Pay the fee by e-challan. The institute gives you a challan ID from the Bank of Punjab system. Pay online or at any Bank of Punjab branch.

TEVTA's fee notification says institutes are "strictly prohibited" from issuing manual challans or taking cash. If anyone asks for cash at the counter, refuse and use TEVTA's online complaint system.

TEVTA fees for 2026-27

A six month vocational course costs Rs 2,206 in fixed charges. A one or two year vocational course costs Rs 6,732 a year, and a DAE costs Rs 17,490 a year. These figures come from TEVTA's fee notification for the 2026-27 session.

DAE (per year)Rs 5,869Rs 8,866Rs 2,756Rs 17,490

Board registration and exam fees are extra. They go to the Punjab Board of Technical Education, the Trade Testing Board or a university, at their own rates. Hostel fee for a vocational course is Rs 77 a month, and transport, where offered, is Rs 1,500 a month.

Pay on time. The notification sets a late fine of Rs 110 a day, up to Rs 2,200 a month. If the fee stays unpaid for one month, the admission is cancelled. TEVTA also says it has no refund policy. Once the admission committee approves you, no fee is refunded at all.

Fee waivers for high marks and some students

Students with 90 per cent or more in matric, DAE or FSc pay no fixed charges in the morning shift. Those with 80 to 89 per cent pay half. Students from Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan are not charged fees, under an earlier TEVTA order.

The waiver covers the first year. It continues only if you get the same percentage in the annual exam. Fixed charges here mean admission and tuition fee, pupil fund and the refundable security. Children of TEVTA employees also get a waiver under a 2014 order.

For a longer course, other help may stack with TEVTA's low fees. The PEEF scholarship is one Punjab option worth checking for students from low income families.

TEVTA under the new Punjab skills law

From 10 September 2026, TEVTA works as an agency under the new Punjab Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Authority. The law that created TEVTA was repealed, but the Act keeps earlier orders and actions valid, and admissions run on the same portal.

The Punjab Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Authority Act 2026 was published in the Punjab Gazette on 10 September 2026 and came into force at once. Section 33 repeals the TEVTA Act 2010, the Punjab Vocational Training Council Act 1998, the Punjab Board of Technical Education Ordinance 1962 and the Punjab Skills Development Authority Act 2019.

In their place sit agencies under one Authority, including the Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Agency. The Act says TEVTA's chairman continues as the agency's chief executive for now. Its duties include running institutes, training apprentices and offering scholarships and job placement. We found no new fee or admission rules from the Authority yet. Watch for them before the April session.

TEVTA graduates often aim for jobs in the Gulf. Before paying any agent, check the overseas job agency's licence.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 1 October 2026. Fees, fines, waivers and the no refund rule come from TEVTA's 2026-27 fee notification, dated 1 June 2026, which is a scan we read page by page. Session dates come from TEVTA's 2026-27 academic calendars on tevta.gop.pk, and institute types from its home page. We opened the online admission form, the admission guide and the complaint system on portal.tevta.gop.pk. The law change comes from the Punjab Gazette copy of the Punjab Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Authority Act 2026, linked from TEVTA's home page. The notification did not include annexes for apprenticeship and short skills courses in the copy we read, so we give no fees for those. We did not apply for a course ourselves.
