Apply for Zakat Help in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rs 30,000 Marriage Grant and Free Treatment
Apply for Zakat help in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through your Local Zakat Committee: Rs 30,000 marriage grant, free hospital care and stipends. Who qualifies, how.

To get Zakat help in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, go to the Local Zakat Committee where you live. Its chairman decides if you are a mustahiq, a person who deserves Zakat. KP Zakat pays a Rs 30,000 marriage grant, free hospital treatment and student stipends. There is no online application for these.
The rates below come from the KP Zakat, Ushr, Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment Department's own pages and its Zakat Disbursement Regulations, which the KP Zakat and Ushr Council approved on 12 January 2021. Its budget page shows Rs 1,328 million allocated for 2021-22, the latest year it lists, and 68 per cent of the programme money went to the monthly Guzara Allowance.
We read every programme page and the regulations on 3 October 2026. We also opened the department's chairman search tool, which lists all KP districts. We did not visit a committee.
KP Zakat pays five kinds of help
KP Zakat runs a monthly Guzara Allowance, a one-time marriage grant, free treatment at district and provincial hospitals, a special fund for serious illness, and stipends for students. Every one of them starts with the same step: an istehqaq certificate from your Local Zakat Committee.
| Programme | Amount | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Guzara Allowance | Rs 2,000 a month in the 2021 regulations, paid six months at a time | Poor adult Muslims, with preference to widows, orphans and disabled people |
| Marriage Assistance | Rs 30,000, paid once | Unmarried women whose family cannot pay for the wedding |
| Health Care, district level | Rs 10,000 indoor, Rs 5,000 outdoor, per visit | Poor patients at DHQ and THQ hospitals |
| Health Care, provincial level | Rs 50,000 indoor, Rs 5,000 outdoor, per visit | Poor patients at 26 Zakat-aided hospitals |
| Special Health Care Programme | Rs 50,000 to Rs 500,000 | Patients with cancer, heart, kidney and other listed diseases |
| Educational stipends | Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 a month | Poor students from school to PhD, and madrassa students |

The department also lists three cards for 2025-26: the Sahara Card for widows, the Roshan Mustaqbil Card for orphans and the Ehsaas Umeed Card for people with disabilities. Widows apply for the Sahara Card on its own form, separate from the Zakat committee route.
Get your istehqaq certificate in five steps
Istehqaq means the official finding that you deserve Zakat. Only the Local Zakat Committee of your area can give it. Find your chairman through the department's search tool, take your CNIC and the right form, and ask for your name in the Register-e-Mustahiqeen.
- Open the LZC chairman search, pick your district and your Local Zakat Committee, and note the chairman's contact.
- Download the form for your need from the department's Zakat Istehqaq Forms page. There are separate forms for treatment, stipends, madrassa stipends and marriage.
- Fill in your name, CNIC, address and family income. Attach a copy of your CNIC.
- Give the form to the chairman. The committee decides in its meeting and enters your name in the register.
- For hospital treatment, get the certificate countersigned by the chairman of the District Zakat Committee before you go to the hospital.

A committee can also add you without an application. The regulations allow only one Guzara Allowance per household, and they rule out habitual beggars.
The marriage grant is Rs 30,000, paid once
KP Zakat's Marriage Assistance pays Rs 30,000 to an unmarried woman whose parents or guardian cannot afford her wedding. It comes as one crossed cheque in her own name. The committee will not issue the cheque until it sees the Nikahnama.
She must be an adult Muslim woman who depends on her parents, a guardian or a social welfare institution. A woman living in a Darul Aman applies through the committee where that institution is.
The form asks for more than most people expect. Be ready with:
- The bride's CNIC, the date of Nikah and the expected date of rukhsati.
- The father's or guardian's CNIC, job and monthly income.
- The jobs and incomes of any brothers or sisters who work.
- Whether any married sister already got Zakat marriage help, with the amount and date.
- A copy of the Nikahnama.
If you moved recently, there is a catch. The new committee can decide your case only after you have lived at the new address for more than a year. So get the Nikah registered first, because the cheque depends on it.
Free treatment depends on the hospital level
KP Zakat pays for medicines, tests and operations, never cash. At DHQ and THQ hospitals the limit is Rs 10,000 per indoor visit and Rs 5,000 outdoor. At the 26 provincial hospitals it is Rs 50,000 indoor. Each hospital's Health Welfare Committee can go higher.

The provincial list includes Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Ayub Teaching Hospital, IRNUM, Mardan Medical Complex and Shaukat Khanum in Peshawar. For a provincial hospital you also need a referral from the District Health Officer of your district. At a BHU the regulations cap help at Rs 1,000 per outdoor patient.
In an emergency, a member of the Zakat council or district committee can certify you on a relative's or friend's guarantee. You must then bring the proper certificate within 30 days. If you do not, the regulations say you are blacklisted from future Zakat help.
Zakat treatment is not for people whose employer pays their medical bills. Check the Sehat Card Plus first, since it covers most indoor care in KP hospitals.
The Special Health Care Programme covers serious illness
For costly treatment, the hospital sends an estimate and the department releases a lump sum between Rs 50,000 and Rs 500,000. Who can approve it depends on the amount, from the hospital committee up to Rs 50,000 to the minister up to Rs 300,000. The department's page names cancer, cardiac, hepatitis and kidney disease. The 2021 regulations name cardiac, cancer, neuro and kidney disease instead. Ask the hospital which list it follows.
Students apply through the committee or the institution
Poor students can apply through their Local Zakat Committee or through the head of their institution. The 2021 regulations set stipends from Rs 500 a month up to matric to Rs 5,000 a month for MS and PhD. Madrassa students get Rs 1,500 resident or Rs 1,000 non-resident.
| Level | Monthly stipend |
|---|---|
| Up to matric, or a social welfare institution | Rs 500 |
| Undergraduate | Rs 1,500 |
| BS or postgraduate | Rs 2,000 |
| MS or PhD | Rs 5,000 |
| Technical course, age 16 to 35 | Up to Rs 3,000, plus Rs 10,000 for tools on passing |
The money goes to the institution as a lump sum, and its scholarship committee pays the students. Only madrassas registered with one of the five madaris boards and enlisted with the department qualify. Federal help for orphans' schooling comes separately through Bait-ul-Mal.
Common questions
Can I apply for KP Zakat online?
No. The forms can be downloaded from the department's website, but you hand them to your Local Zakat Committee. The online tool only finds your chairman.
How much is the Guzara Allowance in KP?
The 2021 regulations set it at Rs 2,000 a month, paid as one cheque for six months. The council can change it, and the department's website does not show a newer rate, so ask your committee.
Is the KP Zakat marriage grant Rs 30,000?
Yes. Both the department's Marriage Assistance page and the 2021 regulations say Rs 30,000, paid in one go, by cheque in the bride's name.
What if I need treatment and have no certificate yet?
A council or district committee member can certify you on a guarantee. Bring the proper istehqaq certificate within 30 days.
Who do I contact if my committee does not respond?
Your District Zakat Officer, listed on the department's website, or the department at Benevolent Fund Building, Peshawar Cantt, on 091-9213993.
Can a non-Muslim family get this help?
The Guzara Allowance and marriage grant rules both say adult Muslim. Christian, Hindu and Sikh families can apply for a Minorities Welfare Fund grant instead.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on 3 October 2026. We read the department's pages for Marriage Assistance, Health Care, the Special Health Care Programme, the Zakat Istehqaq Forms and the Zakat budget, all on swkpk.gov.pk. We read the Zakat Disbursement Regulations approved on 12 January 2021, and the marriage and treatment forms. The Guzara Allowance and stipend rates come only from those 2021 regulations, which allow the council to change them, so confirm them with your committee. The two disease lists conflict and we report both. We did not apply for help ourselves.
