The Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI) in Faisalabad lists grafted mango plants at Rs 160, Kinnow plants at Rs 150 and guava plants at Rs 50 each, sold from its government nurseries in Punjab. The rates on the department's page are marked 2023-24, so treat them as a guide and confirm by phone. Below is the full plant price list, the planting season for each, who to call, and where to get seed of new crop varieties.

A government nursery plant usually costs less than a private one and comes true to its variety. That matters for a mango or citrus tree you will live with for twenty years. We read the AARI services page on agripunjab.gov.pk on 1 November 2026.

AARI sells mango, citrus and guava plants from Rs 40 to Rs 160

The cheapest mango plant on the list is a seedling in soil, called gachi, at Rs 40. A grafted mango in a poly bag costs Rs 160. Citrus plants cost Rs 140 to Rs 150, and guava Rs 40 to Rs 50.

Gachi means the plant is lifted with a ball of soil around its roots. A poly bag plant travels better and usually settles faster, which is why it costs a little more.

Peach, plum, apricot and almond come from Soon Valley

Temperate fruit plants come from the Horticulture Research Station in Soon Valley, Khushab. Peach, plum, apricot, almond, pear, grape, fig and pomegranate plants there are listed at Rs 80 to Rs 100 each, mostly for February planting.

Soon Valley sits in the Salt Range, which suits these cooler-climate trees better than the plains. Planting there may also link with the department's olive plantation subsidy in Punjab, which covers Potohar and Soon Valley.

For citrus, the Citrus Research Institute in Sargodha lists a budded citrus plant at Rs 110 and a potted citrus plant at Rs 140. Farmers in Thal can also look at the Thal farm subsidy for citrus plants.
