The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore posted the "Syllabus of Class 10th for Hearing Impaired Children (Session 2026-27)" on its site on 31 August 2026. The document is headed "Syllabus for Hearing Impaired, Special Education, Punjab". Teachers in special education schools and parents of deaf children are the people who need it. We read all 20 pages and set out what is in it below.
The syllabus covers English and Computer Science
The file has three parts: English theory, Computer Science theory and Computer Science practical. Each part lists the units, gives practice questions, and ends with a model paper. The medium of instruction is English throughout.
We did not find other subjects, such as Urdu or Mathematics, in this file. If your child takes other subjects, ask the school or the board which syllabus applies to them. The board has not posted a separate list for those subjects in the same place.

English has six units from the class 10 book
The English part takes six units: units 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8. Units 2 and 7 are left out. Each unit comes with multiple choice questions, word meanings in Urdu, a paragraph to translate into Urdu, and short reading questions.

The practice questions are short and direct. Most MCQs test one fact or one word from the unit.
The English papers lean on translation and short answers
The objective paper, 30 minutes and 35 marks, has MCQs, plurals, opposites and changing sentences into questions. The essay paper, 2 hours and 40 marks, has translation both ways, reading questions, an essay and word meanings.

The six questions add up to the 40 marks printed at the top. Translation alone is worth 15 of the 40. A student who practises the Urdu translations given under each unit is already preparing for over a third of the essay paper.
Computer Science theory has four units, including AI
Computer Science theory uses the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board book Computer Education and Entrepreneurship for class 10, 2026-27. It takes units 1, 5, 6 and 7: operating systems, data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and uses of AI. The paper is worth 30 marks.
The model paper has three parts. Question 1 is six MCQs for 6 marks. Question 2 asks for short answers to any seven questions, 2 marks each, for 14. Then the student answers any two of three longer questions, 5 marks each, for 10.
The sample questions show the level. One asks which app recommends videos using machine learning. Another asks the student to define machine learning and give examples. A third asks for three methods of data collection.
The practical is 90 marks and done on a computer
The Computer Science practical is 90 marks over 2 hours 30 minutes. The student attempts any two of three questions. Each question has a written part worth 20 marks and a task on the computer worth 25 marks.
The practical units are system recovery and maintenance from the class 10 book, and MS Excel, Google Sheets, MS Word and PowerPoint from the class 9 Information and Communication Technologies book of 2025-26. Sample tasks include opening Task Manager, deleting a saved file, and opening Excel and Word.
Because the practical carries 90 marks against 30 for theory, time on a real computer matters most. A student who can open, save and delete files without help is ready for the sample tasks. If the school lab is short of machines, practice at home on any computer helps.
Deaf students who also need hearing aids can apply for a free hearing aid in Punjab. The federal board has separate rules for candidates with a disability, but BISE Lahore students follow BISE Lahore's own rules.
