A caller tune costs Rs 3.9 a day including tax on Jazz, plus Rs 11.53 for each tune, and you stop it by sending UNSUB to 230. Zong's Dial Tune costs Rs 3 plus tax a day, or Rs 25 plus tax a month if you send 2 to 2300, and you stop it by sending UNSUB to 2300. On Zong, the monthly plan is about a quarter of the daily price.

A caller tune, or ring back tone, is the song your callers hear instead of the ringing sound. It is cheap per day, which is exactly why it adds up unnoticed. Jazz's daily charge comes to about Rs 117 over a month. We read the caller tune pages of Jazz and Zong on 20 October 2026 to set out the real cost, the codes and the stop commands.

Caller tunes cost about Rs 3 to Rs 4 a day on both networks

Jazz Tunes costs Rs 3.9 a day including tax. Zong Dial Tune costs Rs 3 plus tax a day on the daily plan. Each song you pick is charged on top: Rs 11.53 including tax on Jazz, Rs 5.95 plus tax on Zong.

Zong's monthly plan costs about a quarter of the daily one

On Zong, the daily plan at Rs 3 plus tax comes to about Rs 108 over 30 days once 19.5% sales tax is added. The monthly plan at Rs 25 plus tax comes to about Rs 30. That is the same service for roughly Rs 78 less a month.

Zong's own pages disagree on the monthly price. The Dial Tune page says Rs 25 plus tax. The separate RBT Monthly page says Rs 28 plus tax. Even at Rs 28, the monthly plan is far cheaper than daily. If you already have Zong's daily plan, send UNSUB to 2300 and then send 2 to 2300, and check the confirmation SMS for the price.

Jazz's page lists no monthly option, so a Jazz caller tune costs about Rs 117 a month plus the tune itself. These monthly figures are our arithmetic.

Each tune you pick also expires

The song itself is a separate purchase, and on Zong it does not last forever. Zong's Dial Tune page says each tune has a renewal fee of Rs 5.95 plus tax every 45 days. Its My Tune page says a tune stays valid for 90 days. We cannot tell which applies, so expect a renewal charge at least every three months.

Jazz's page charges Rs 11.53 including tax for each content download and does not mention a renewal. Jazz's library has more than 400,000 songs, according to its page, so it is easy to buy several. Each one is a fresh charge.

The second service doubles the bill

Both networks sell a second, related service, and each is charged separately. Jazz Apni Dhun plays a tune you choose while you wait for others to answer, set with *2302*tune code#. Zong My Tune does the same on 2400.

Jazz says that if you have both Jazz Tunes and Apni Dhun, you pay for both subscriptions. Zong says the same for Dial Tune and My Tune, at Rs 3 plus tax a day each. Two services on Jazz come to about Rs 234 a month before any songs. If you never meant to subscribe to the second one, stop it.

How to stop a caller tune

Stopping takes one SMS. Jazz and Zong both use the word UNSUB. Send it from the number that has the tune.

  1. On Jazz, send UNSUB to 230 to stop Jazz Tunes and Apni Dhun.
  2. On Zong, send UNSUB to 2300 to stop Dial Tune.
  3. On Zong, send UNSUB to 2400 to stop My Tune.
  4. Wait for the confirmation SMS and keep it.
  5. Check your balance the next day to confirm no daily charge was taken.
Steps to stop a Jazz or Zong caller tune by SMS

One Jazz rule catches people. Jazz says that if your balance is too low, the subscription is still set up on request, and the charges are deducted when you next have balance. So a tune switched on by accident on an empty account still costs money later. Jazz users can dial *7050# to see what was deducted in the last 3 days. Zong users can find every stop code in the Zong unsubscribe codes.

A caller tune you never asked for

Pressing *3 while hearing someone else's Jazz Tune copies it as your own, and Jazz lists that as a way to subscribe. One stray key press during a call can start a daily charge. If a tune appeared without your consent, stop it first and then complain to the network. PTA's rules on services activated without consent apply.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 20 October 2026. We read Jazz's Jazz Tunes page and Zong's Dial Tune page, plus Zong's RBT Daily, RBT Monthly and My Tune pages, on that date. Codes, charges and rules come from those pages, and where Zong's pages disagree we show both figures. Monthly totals are our arithmetic, using 19.5% sales tax for Zong as its terms state. We did not subscribe to either service.
