Change Your Date of Birth on a CNIC: NADRA Fee Is Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000
NADRA charges Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 to change the age on a CNIC, by years moved, and Rs 10,000 for a second change. See the fee table and prepare before you go.

NADRA charges Rs 1,000 to change your age on a CNIC by up to one year, and Rs 5,000 once the change is more than three years. A second age change costs Rs 10,000. Those are the inland rates on NADRA's own fee page.
That is a big gap, so it pays to know which band you fall in before you walk to the counter. If the wrong date of birth is just a typing mistake, the cheap end of the table is where you want to be.
We read NADRA's fee structure page at nadra.gov.pk on 8 October 2026. Every figure below comes from that page.
The fee depends on how many years the age moves
NADRA lists a separate table called Processing Fee for Age Modification in ID Cards. Inland, it runs from Rs 1,000 for a change of up to one year to Rs 5,000 for more than three years. A second change costs Rs 10,000.
| Change in age | Inland fee | Abroad fee |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1 year | Rs 1,000 | USD 15 |
| More than 1 year, up to 2 years | Rs 2,000 | USD 25 |
| More than 2 years, up to 3 years | Rs 3,000 | USD 40 |
| More than 3 years | Rs 5,000 | USD 65 |
| Second time age change | Rs 10,000 | USD 125 |
The table does not say in words what the bands measure. Our reading is that they measure the gap between the date on your card and the date you want. NADRA does not spell that out, so ask the counter to confirm your band before you pay.
The second change costs double the top band
A second age change is Rs 10,000 inland and USD 125 abroad. That is twice the fee for the largest first-time change. NADRA does not publish a reason, but the message is plain: get the date right the first time.
This is the line most people miss. Someone who corrects a school record, then finds the CNIC still wrong, then changes it again, pays the highest fee on the table.
Before you apply, collect every record that shows your date of birth. Compare them. If they disagree with each other, fix that first. A new CNIC date that matches one paper and clashes with three others only moves the problem.
The normal modification fee sits on a different table
NADRA's main fee table lists CNIC Modification at Rs 400 for the normal 15 day service. Urgent is Rs 1,150 in 12 days. Executive is Rs 2,150 in 6 days. The age table is listed separately.
| Card | Normal | Urgent | Executive |
|---|---|---|---|
| CNIC Modification | Rs 400, 15 days | Rs 1,150, 12 days | Rs 2,150, 6 days |
| Smart NIC Modification | Rs 750, 31 days | Rs 1,500, 23 days | Rs 2,500, 9 days |
The page does not say whether the age fee is added to the modification fee or replaces it. We could not settle that from the page alone. Ask for the total in rupees at the counter, and ask for it before you pay.
NADRA also notes that the normal, urgent and executive timelines start after the fee is paid, not when you first walk in. A fee paid on Friday evening starts the clock then.
Steps to take before you go
Preparation saves the second trip. Gather the records that show the correct date, decide how many years you are moving, and pick a speed. Then book a slot so you are not queuing for hours.
- Collect every record that shows your date of birth and check that they agree.
- Work out the gap in years between the date on your CNIC and the correct one.
- Look up your band in the age table above, and decide on normal, urgent or executive.
- Book a visit through the PakID app, or go to your nearest registration centre.
- Ask for the full fee in writing before you pay, then keep the receipt and tracking ID.
Our guide to booking a NADRA appointment on the PakID app shows the slot booking step by step. After you apply, the steps in tracking a NADRA application by text message tell you where your file is.
What NADRA's page does not list
The CNIC page on nadra.gov.pk has an FAQ entry on what to do when the date of birth on a CNIC is wrong. The answer opens only inside the page, and we could not read it. We cannot tell you which documents NADRA accepts as proof.
That matters, because the proof you bring decides whether the change is approved at all. The fee is the easy part.
Take your original B-form or birth certificate, school certificates and your parents' CNICs. Ask the officer which of them will be accepted for your case. Do not trust a list from a stranger on social media. NADRA decides, and rules can differ by case.
Cheaper fixes for other mistakes
NADRA lists Rs 100 for updating non-printable fields on a CNIC through a registration centre, done in 2 days. A date of birth is printed on the card, so our reading is that it falls outside that line. Confirm this at the counter.
Name spelling, address and family details can need different handling from age. Our guide to NADRA fees for every document lists the other charges side by side.
If your card is lost or worn out rather than wrong, the reprint route is quicker. The steps are in reprinting a lost CNIC on the PakID app.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 8 October 2026. The fees and timelines come from the fee structure page on the National Database and Registration Authority's website, nadra.gov.pk/feeStructure. The CNIC requirements and FAQ list are on nadra.gov.pk/identityDocument/cnic. We could not read the date of birth answer in the FAQ, and the fee page does not state what documents NADRA accepts for an age change. Our reading of the age bands as the gap in years is marked as ours in the text. Fees change, so confirm the current figure on the NADRA page before you pay.
