Check if a CNG Station Is OGRA Licensed in Pakistan: Official List of 811 Stations
OGRA publishes lists of operational and cancelled CNG stations dated 10 February 2026. See how to search them, where stations are and what the lists miss.

Short answer: OGRA publishes two lists on the CNG page of ogra.org.pk, both dated 10 February 2026: operational CNG stations and cancelled CNG stations. Search both for the station's name and city. A station that is on the cancelled list, or on neither, should not be selling gas.
You pull into a CNG station with a full tank of worry. Is the cylinder tested? Is the dispenser approved? Is the station even licensed? Most drivers never ask. OGRA, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, publishes the list, and it takes five minutes to read.
We opened OGRA's CNG department page on 11 October 2026 and downloaded both lists. The tallies below are ours, counted from the lists. The lists are PDFs of several hundred rows each, so use the search function in your PDF viewer.
OGRA publishes a list of licensed and cancelled CNG stations
The CNG page of ogra.org.pk carries an updated list of operational CNG stations and an updated list of cancelled CNG stations, both dated 10 February 2026. OGRA has regulated the CNG sector since 15 March 2003, under the OGRA Ordinance 2002 and the CNG Rules 1992.
OGRA's page says it has granted around 6,154 provisional licences for CNG stations since it began, and that around 3,500 stations obtained a marketing licence to operate. A marketing licence is the permit to sell gas to the public. The operating list is much shorter than that history, because many stations closed or lost their licences.
| OGRA document | Date | Entries we counted |
|---|---|---|
| Updated list of operational CNG stations | 10 February 2026 | 811 |
| Updated list of cancelled CNG stations | 10 February 2026 | 408 |

How to check a station in five steps
Open the CNG page on ogra.org.pk, download the operational list, search for the station's name and city, then repeat on the cancelled list. A name on the operational list with the right address is a match. A name on the cancelled list is not.
- Go to ogra.org.pk and open the CNG department page under Departments.
- Download "Updated List of Operational CNG Stations" dated 10 February 2026.
- Search for the station name, then its city or road. Names are written as "M/s" followed by the business name, so search a word from the middle of the name.
- Compare the address with the station you are standing at. Several stations share brand names.
- Download the cancelled list and search it the same way.

Each row in the operational list gives the station title, site address, city, province, file number, type of inspection and a third party inspection status for 2024. The rows we read show an annual inspection and an operational status.
Where the licensed stations are
By our count of the province column, more than 500 of the 811 operational entries are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Punjab has about 120 and Sindh about 90. Islamabad has a handful and Balochistan has one or two.
The cancelled list tells the other half. Punjab has about 300 of the 408 cancelled entries, Sindh about 70, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 15 and Islamabad 3. These are our counts and a few rows are hard to attribute, so treat them as close, not exact.
The practical lesson is simple for Punjab and Sindh drivers. If a CNG station near you is not on the operational list, that is a reason to ask to see its current licence.
| Province | Operational list, about | Cancelled list, about |
|---|---|---|
| Khyber Pakhtunkhwa | 550 | 15 |
| Punjab | 120 | 300 |
| Sindh | 90 | 70 |
| Islamabad | a handful | 3 |

The price you pay is not set on OGRA's CNG page
OGRA's CNG Notified Prices page lists one item: a maximum sale price notification effective 1 September 2015. It is a scanned file that we could not read. We found no current notified CNG price there, so we do not quote one.
So what should you do at the pump? Ask for the price board, and compare two stations. If the price looks very different from the next station on the same road, say so to the manager. For petrol and diesel prices the rules are different, and the OGRA pump price list shows how to check a pump's notified rate.
If you complain about short measurement or poor service, the steps in how to complain about a petrol pump apply in the same spirit, but OGRA's own page does not say that CNG complaints use that form. Write to the CNG department through OGRA's contact page and keep a copy.
What the licence list does not tell you
The lists are a snapshot from February 2026. A station licensed after that date will be missing. A station cancelled after that date will still show as operational. The list also says nothing about the car kit or your cylinder.
OGRA says it inspects CNG stations every year through designated third party inspectors, and that deficient stations are penalised. It also warns that operating without a valid and renewed CNG marketing licence is illegal.
For your own vehicle, the rules on who may fit a kit, which cylinders are acceptable and where to test them are in how to fit a CNG or LPG kit legally. A licensed station is half of the safety picture. A tested cylinder is the other half.
Common questions
Is there an official list of CNG stations in Pakistan?
Yes. OGRA's CNG page carries an updated list of operational CNG stations dated 10 February 2026, plus a list of cancelled stations with the same date.
How many CNG stations are licensed?
OGRA says about 3,500 stations have obtained a marketing licence since it began. Its February 2026 list of operational stations has 811 entries.
Is it illegal to run a CNG station without a licence?
Yes. OGRA's CNG page says operating without a valid and renewed CNG marketing licence is illegal, and that deficient stations are penalised.
Does OGRA set the CNG price?
OGRA's CNG Notified Prices page lists only a 2015 maximum sale price notification, which we could not read. We found no current notified CNG price on that page.
Can a station on the operational list still be unlicensed today?
It is possible, because the list is dated 10 February 2026. Ask the station to show a current licence and write to OGRA if you doubt it.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on Sunday 11 October 2026. We read the CNG department page on ogra.org.pk, downloaded the operational and cancelled station lists dated 10 February 2026, and opened the CNG notified prices page. Counts are our own tallies from the lists. We did not visit any station.
