An empty glass of water on a dark wooden table, for a guide to DRAP drip and injection recall alerts in Pakistan

Short answer: DRAP recall alerts 22 and 35 name drip bottles, sterile water ampoules and injections that failed lab tests in 2026, mostly for bacteria toxins, germs or visible particles. Before any drip or injection, ask to see the pack and match the brand and batch number with the table below.

Most of us never see the drip bottle. It hangs on a stand, a nurse connects it, and we look at the ceiling. But a drip goes straight into the blood. If the liquid has particles in it, or germs, or the wrong strength, the harm is quick.

We read the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) recall alerts 22 and 35 on dra.gov.pk on 14 October 2026. Both come from the Punjab government's Drug Testing Laboratory. This page lists what DRAP printed and nothing more. The alerts name batches, not whole brands.

Twelve injection and drip products failed lab tests in alerts 22 and 35

Alert 22 (14 April 2026) lists five injections or powders that are not vitamin B12. Alert 35 (18 June 2026) lists eleven products, including four drips or ampoules that failed the bacterial endotoxin test.

Bacterial endotoxin is a toxin released by bacteria. Products given by drip or injection must be free of it. Visible particulates means you can see floating bits in the liquid. Sterility failure means living germs were found.

Drip and injection batches that failed lab tests in DRAP recall alerts 22 and 35

Alert 35 also lists Zyocain Gel 2% (batch 008, sterility), Kamedex Injection 1 ml (batch DX-2642, composition false or misleading), and two vitamin B12 injections. The B12 batches are in our page on how to check a vitamin B12 injection against DRAP's recall alerts.

Ask to see the pack before the drip is hung

A clinic or hospital should show you the bottle or ampoule on request. Read the brand, strength and batch number, then compare them with the table. If one matches, ask for another batch and say why. It is a fair request.

  1. Ask the nurse or pharmacist to show you the pack before it is used.
  2. Read the brand name, the strength and the batch number.
  3. Hold the bottle to the light. Look for floating bits or a cloudy liquid.
  4. Compare the batch with the table above.
  5. If anything is wrong, stop and ask for another pack. Take a photo of the label.
Five steps to check a drip bottle or injection before it is used

A floating particle is a reason to stop. Say so even if the batch is not in the alerts. Not every bad batch is in an alert yet. Our guide to checking your injection syringe at a clinic covers the syringe side of the same question.

DRAP told pharmacists to quarantine and return these batches

Alert 35 says pharmacists must check their stock, stop supplying the listed products and return the rest to the supplier. Alert 22 directs market removal, stock quarantine and more surveillance. A pharmacy that still sells these batches is acting against the alert.

The alerts do not name any hospital or clinic. They do not say where each batch was sold. So the right step is to check the pack in front of you, not to assume.

When a clinic buys from an unlicensed supplier, the risk is higher. In Punjab you can check if a pharmacy is licensed. For other provinces, ask for the drug sale licence number and call the provincial drug control office.

What to do if you or a relative already had one

Talk to the doctor who gave it and show the pack or a photo. If there is fever, shivering, rash or pain at the site, get medical care. DRAP's alerts do not give treatment advice, so we cannot add any.

Then report it. DRAP takes quality complaints on its online form, by email at gsms@dra.gov.pk, and on 0800-03727, open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. The steps to report counterfeit medicine to DRAP fit a suspected fake.

Drip and injection products named in alerts 22 and 35

Common questions

Is every infusion from these makers unsafe?

No. The alerts name single batches. Other batches and other products from the same maker are not named. Always match the batch number.

What is a bacterial endotoxin test?

It is a lab test for toxins from bacteria. A product given by drip or injection should pass it. A failed test means the batch is not fit for use.

Can I refuse a drip and ask for another pack?

You can ask to see the pack and ask for another one if anything looks wrong. A clinic that cannot show the pack should explain why.

Do these alerts apply outside Punjab?

The tests were done by the Punjab laboratory, but the makers are in several cities. The alerts do not limit the recall to Punjab, so check the batch wherever you are.

Where is the batch number on a drip bottle?

It is printed on the label of the bottle or bag and on the outer carton, next to the manufacturing and expiry dates.

How do I find the newest DRAP alerts?

Open the Safety Info section of dra.gov.pk and go to Product Recalls. New alerts appear there first.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read DRAP recall alert I/S/03-26-22 and DRAP recall alert I/S/06-26-35. Alert 35 gave no manufacturing or expiry dates. We did not test any product and we do not state what a product is used for unless DRAP named it. This is not medical advice. Check the DRAP site or call 0800-03727 before you act.
