Check SPSC Age Rules: Matric Date of Birth and Closing Date in Sindh
SPSC counts age on the closing date from your matric date of birth and accepts no change later. See the document order and the relaxation rule for Sindh posts.

SPSC counts your age on the closing date of the advertisement, using the date of birth printed on your matric certificate. It will not accept a changed date of birth or a new matric certificate after that date. For Advertisement 05/2026, the closing date is 23 October 2026.
A single day can decide an age case. Someone who turns 29 on 24 October is treated very differently from someone who turns 29 on 22 October, if the post allows up to 28. The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) sets the method in Chapter V of its Recruitment Management Regulations (RMR). We read those regulations on spsc.gov.pk on 15 October 2026. This guide turns regulations 51 to 56 and 27 into a short check.
SPSC takes your date of birth from the matric certificate
Regulation 51 says the date of birth is ordinarily the one endorsed on the matriculation or equivalent certificate. If that certificate is not available for reasons you cannot avoid, SPSC may admit another real document, such as an O Level certificate or a certificate from the head of your school.
Your name, father's name and date of birth must also match the matric certificate. SPSC lists a mismatch as a reason to mark an application deficient. So read your certificate first, then read your CNIC, then fill in the form from the certificate.

When documents disagree, SPSC follows a fixed order
Regulation 53 gives the order: the Secondary School Certificate first, then the certificate of an equivalent system, then a certificate from the head of the institution if the first two show no date of birth. A CNIC or a birth certificate is not on that list.
| Order | Document SPSC uses |
|---|---|
| 1 | Secondary School Certificate (SSC, matric) |
| 2 | Equivalent certificate under another system, such as O Level |
| 3 | Certificate from the head of the institution, if the first two show no date |
Regulation 52 adds one detail for O Level. If the O Level certificate carries no date of birth, a certificate from the school head that cites the school's enrolment register is also accepted, after SPSC verifies it.
Age is counted in years, months and days on the last date to apply
Regulation 55 says the exact age is worked out from the accepted date of birth up to the last date for submitting the application. SPSC records it in years, months and days. The age limit itself is printed in each advertisement and follows the government's rules.
Here is an example. A candidate born on 10 November 1998 has, on 23 October 2026, an age of 27 years, 11 months and 13 days. The age that counts is the one on the closing date, not the day of the test or the interview.
- Find the closing date in the advertisement.
- Take the date of birth from your matric certificate.
- Count the years, months and days between the two.
- Compare the result with the age limit printed for your post.
- If you are over, look for a relaxation order that names the post.

For the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), the regulations use a different counting date. They fix 1 September of the year of the CCE as the datum date. Our PMS Sindh 2026 application last date page covers that exam.
A new matric certificate after the closing date is not accepted
Regulation 56 is blunt. After the closing date, SPSC will not entertain any change to the date of birth. That includes a substitute or revised matric certificate, or any other document sent to change the age. Fix a wrong date of birth at the board before the advertisement appears, and check the other SPSC degree and result rules at the same time.
Boards take time to correct certificates. If you plan to apply to Sindh posts in the next year, check the date on your certificate now. A correction made months later helps you with the next advertisement, but not with the one that has already closed.
Age relaxation counts only if the order names the post
Regulation 27, as changed by an SPSC office order dated 12 August 2026, says a relaxation is acceptable only if it names the post and the SPSC advertisement number, and states how long it is valid. A general relaxation that does not name a post is not accepted.
Being over the limit by more than the approved relaxation is a ground for rejection under regulation 41. Attach the relaxation order with your application, because a missing order makes the application deficient. A federal or another province's order does not help, unless it fits those conditions. Federal job seekers can read the FPSC age relaxation rules for comparison.

Common questions about SPSC age rules
Which date does SPSC use to count my age?
The last date for submitting applications in the advertisement. For the CCE, the datum date is 1 September of the exam year.
Does SPSC use my CNIC date of birth?
No. It uses the date on your matric or equivalent certificate. The CNIC is not in the list of documents for deciding date of birth.
Can I submit a corrected matric certificate later?
Not after the closing date. Regulation 56 says no change to the date of birth, and no substitute certificate, will be accepted after that date.
What if my date of birth differs between two documents?
SPSC takes the SSC first, then an equivalent certificate, then the school head's certificate. It follows that order and stops at the first one with a date.
Does a general age relaxation work?
No. Since the August 2026 change, the order must name the post, the SPSC advertisement number and its validity period.
Where is the age limit for my post?
In the advertisement itself. SPSC lists the minimum and maximum age for each post there, and follows the government's age criteria.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 15 October 2026. We read regulations 27, 41, 51 to 56 of the SPSC Recruitment Management Regulations, 3rd edition with amendments, on spsc.gov.pk, and the closing date of Advertisement 05/2026 on the SPSC home page. The RMR page also lists a scanned amendment dated 13 October 2026, which we could not read. Check it before you rely on the rules above. The 27 years, 11 months and 13 days example is our own arithmetic, not an SPSC figure.
