The Punjab Workers Welfare Fund (PWWF) pays a marriage grant of Rs 600,000 for the daughter of a registered industrial or mine worker. Apply online on the PWWF portal at mis.pwwf.punjab.gov.pk within two years of the Nikah.

The amount went up from Rs 400,000 to Rs 600,000 under a PWWF notification dated 20 November 2025. The new rate covers marriages on or after 25 August 2025. So a family whose daughter married in September 2025 should get the higher amount, not the old one.

We read the rate notification, the welfare grant rules that took effect on 1 February 2026, and the portal's own sign-up guide on 2 October 2026. This Punjab workers marriage grant is separate from anything your employer pays. It comes from the fund that factories pay into.

Punjab Workers Welfare Fund marriage grant raised to Rs 600,000 for marriages from 25 August 2025

The PWWF marriage grant is Rs 600,000 from 25 August 2025

PWWF pays Rs 600,000 for each eligible marriage on or after 25 August 2025. Marriages before that date fall under the old rate of Rs 400,000. The money goes straight into the bank account you give on the application.

The rise followed a decision of the federal Workers Welfare Fund's governing body on 25 August 2025, which the Punjab fund adopted in its own meeting on 13 November 2025. The same notification raised the death grant from Rs 800,000 to Rs 1,000,000.

Death grantRs 800,000Rs 1,000,000Deaths on or after 25 August 2025

If a worker died in service, the family should claim the Rs 1 million workers death grant first. The daughters of that worker can claim the marriage grant only after the death grant has been paid.

Who can claim the Punjab workers marriage grant

The father or mother must be a worker in a registered factory or mine in Punjab, with three years of total service and at least nine months of EOBI or PESSI contributions in the last twelve months. The bride must be at least 18 at the Nikah.

The rules notified on 3 February 2026 set out the full test. Each point below has to be true when you apply.

  • The parent is a "workman" under the Punjab Industrial Relations Act 2010. Managers and senior administrative staff usually are not.
  • The factory is working and is registered in the online database of the Directorate General of Labour Welfare, or the mine is registered and pays its contribution to PWWF.
  • The worker is registered with EOBI or the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution, with at least nine months of contributions in the last twelve.
  • The worker had three years of total service on the date of the Nikah.
  • The bride was at least 18 at the time of the Nikah.

A female worker who meets the same test can claim the grant for her own marriage. Daughters of a worker who retired, or who was laid off after a disability certified by a PESSI hospital, DHQ or THQ medical board, are also covered. For a retired worker, the claim must be made in his or her lifetime, with a fresh life certificate attested by a gazetted officer.

The rules say the grant is "allowed only one time for all daughters". The federal fund's own page says all daughters of an eligible worker are covered. Our reading is one grant per daughter's marriage, but confirm this with your district office before you apply for a second daughter.

If the worker is not on the PESSI record yet, sort that first. Getting a PESSI social security card in Punjab also opens free treatment for the family.

Documents for the PWWF marriage grant

You upload scanned copies of the CNICs of the worker, bride and groom, the NADRA family registration certificate, the EOBI or PESSI card, an employment certificate, the computerised marriage certificate, a cheque leaf and a Rs 100 e-stamp affidavit.

This is the checklist in the February 2026 rules, in plain words.

  1. Valid CNIC of the worker.
  2. Valid CNIC of the bride.
  3. Valid CNIC of the groom.
  4. Family registration certificate (FRC) of the worker, issued by NADRA.
  5. Valid PESSI or EOBI card of the worker.
  6. Employment certificate from the employer, on the PWWF specimen.
  7. Computerised marriage certificate of the bride, issued by NADRA or the local government.
  8. A cheque leaf showing a valid IBAN, or an account maintenance certificate.
  9. An affidavit on a Rs 100 e-stamp paper, on the PWWF specimen.
  10. For the daughter of a deceased worker: the death certificate and proof the death grant was paid. For a disabled worker: the disability certificate.

The handwritten Nikah Nama is not enough on its own. The rules ask for the computerised certificate, so the Nikah must be registered for a NADRA marriage certificate first. Most families get stuck here. The family registration certificate from NADRA is the other paper people tend to lack.

How to apply for the marriage grant online

Create an account on the PWWF portal with the worker's CNIC, which the system checks against PESSI records. Verify the mobile and email codes, log in, fill the marriage grant form and upload the documents.

  1. Open the portal. Go to mis.pwwf.punjab.gov.pk and click Sign Up.
  2. Enter the worker's CNIC. The system checks it against PESSI records and shows the worker's basic details.
  3. Verify your contacts. Enter an email address and confirm the codes sent to the mobile and the email. Login details arrive by email.
  4. Fill the marriage grant form. Upload every document from the checklist as a clear scan.
  5. Wait for scrutiny. A district scrutiny committee, headed by the Assistant Director Labour Welfare, checks the case before payment.

If the worker already used the old system and the phone number has changed, use Forgot Password. It verifies the CNIC again and lets you update the mobile and email.

The portal guide says sign-up checks the CNIC against PESSI. It does not say what happens for a worker who is only on EOBI. If the CNIC is not found, take the papers to the district labour welfare office and ask them to start the case.

Deadline and delays for the marriage grant

Apply within two years of the Nikah date. A late claim of up to one more year can be accepted by the PWWF Secretary if you explain the delay in writing. After that, the claim is lost.

Normal deadline2 years from the Nikah
Late claimUp to 1 more year, with a written reason
Who decides a late claimSecretary or CEO, PWWF

Contributions needed9 of the last 12 months, EOBI or PESSI
Marriage grant rules in Punjab: two year deadline, three years of service and nine months of contributions

The fund does not publish a processing time for Punjab that we could find. The federal Workers Welfare Fund lists 15 days for its own marriage and death grant cases. Do not treat that as a promise for Punjab.

Workers outside Punjab and in Islamabad

PWWF covers Punjab only. Workers in Islamabad apply to the federal Workers Welfare Fund, and workers in the other provinces apply through their own provincial welfare boards. The federal rules are close to Punjab's, but the papers differ.

The federal fund's page asks for three years of service, EOBI or social security registration, and a bride of at least 18. It wants the Nikah Nama, and an employer certificate attested by the District Officer Labour. Its affidavit says the family will refund double the grant if any detail proves false. Its downloadable form is in Urdu. The federal page does not state the grant amount, so we have not given one for Islamabad.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 2 October 2026. We read the PWWF public notices page, including the rate notification of 20 November 2025 and the welfare grant rules notified on 3 February 2026, effective 1 February 2026. We read the sign-up steps in the portal guide on mis.pwwf.punjab.gov.pk, and the federal fund's marriage grant eligibility and policy pages and service timelines on wwf.gov.pk. Parts of the February 2026 rules are a scanned copy, and we quote only lines we could read clearly. We could not find a Punjab processing time, or the federal grant amount on the federal fund's website.
