Buy DAP carefully, because fakes cost the most here
A bag worth more than Rs 17,000 is the one most worth faking or under-filling. Before paying, compare prices, check the bag, and keep proof of purchase. These five steps take ten minutes and protect a large sum.
- Check this week's PBS average for your city in the table above.
- Get prices from at least two dealers, with the brand named.
- Look for an unbroken seal, clear printing and a 50 kg weight.
- Take a written receipt with the dealer's name, brand, price and date.
- If the crop does not respond or the bag looks wrong, have it tested and report it.
Punjab's fertiliser inspectors and labs are explained under report fake fertiliser or pesticide in Punjab. A soil test can also show whether you need a full bag of DAP at all; the department runs labs in most districts, listed in get your soil tested in Punjab.
The federal agriculture committee warned of a DAP shortfall for this rabi season in its Rabi 2026-27 plan. Urea prices from the same PBS table are on the October fertiliser price report.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the PBS weekly price workbooks on 1 November 2026: the SPI annex for the week ended 29 October 2026, Appendix B, part A (retail fertiliser prices per 50 kg bag in 13 cities), plus the annexes for the first PBS week of every month from January to October 2026. The SPI executive summary for the same week sets out the wider price trend. PBS does not split DAP by brand, and we did not check any dealer's shop price ourselves.
