Diploma in Agriculture in Punjab: 3-Year DAS Eligibility, Age Limit and the 4 Training Institutes by District
Punjab Diploma in Agricultural Sciences takes matric science students with 40 per cent marks, up to age 23. See the 4 institutes, district rules and documents.

Punjab's three-year Diploma in Agricultural Sciences (DAS) is taught at four Agricultural Training Institutes, in Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, Karor Lal Eason in Layyah and Dahgal in Rawalpindi, and you can apply after matric science with at least 40 per cent marks, up to age 23. Which institute you apply to depends on the district of your domicile. Below is the full eligibility list, the district map for all four institutes, and the papers to keep ready.
The diploma is aimed at young people from farming families who want a practical agriculture qualification straight after matric. We read the Punjab Agriculture Department's Extension Wing services page on 1 November 2026. It gives the rules but not this year's admission dates.
Four Agricultural Training Institutes teach the three-year DAS
The Punjab Agriculture Department runs four Agricultural Training Institutes (ATIs) under its Extension Wing. All four offer the three-year Diploma in Agricultural Sciences. The department says 842 pre-service trainees are on the rolls and 11 groups have finished the diploma so far.
The four institutes are:
- Agricultural Training Institute, Rahim Yar Khan
- Agricultural Training Institute, Sargodha
- Agricultural Training Institute, Karor Lal Eason, District Layyah
- Barani Agricultural Training Institute (BATI), Dahgal, Rawalpindi
The same institutes also run in-service training for the department's own staff, covering administrative, financial and technical skills.

You need matric science with 40 per cent and must be 23 or younger
Male and female candidates can apply with matric in science, or an equivalent such as O Level, with at least 40 per cent marks. Admission is purely on merit. The upper age limit is 23 at the time of admission.
| Rule | What the department says |
|---|---|
| Qualification | Matric with science or equivalent (O Level etc.) |
| Minimum marks | 40 per cent |
| Selection | Purely on merit |
| Maximum age | 23 years at admission |
| Age relaxation | Up to 2 years, by the Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad |
| In-service Extension Wing staff | Age limit 30, no further relaxation |
| Hafiz-e-Quran | 20 extra marks, with original certificate and an oral test |
| Tie on marks | Preference to rural background and basic farm knowledge |
Candidates must also be of good character and physically healthy. The age relaxation is not automatic. You would have to ask for it, and only the Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, can grant it.

Your domicile decides which institute you can join
Each institute takes students from a fixed group of districts. You apply to the institute that covers the district on your domicile certificate. Sargodha covers the most districts, 13, and Karor in Layyah the fewest, six.
| Institute | Districts it takes students from |
|---|---|
| ATI Sargodha | Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Nankana Sahib |
| ATI Rahim Yar Khan | Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Multan |
| BATI Dahgal, Rawalpindi | Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal |
| ATI Karor, Layyah | Layyah, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Bhakkar |
Some newer districts, such as Murree, Talagang, Kot Addu, Taunsa and Wazirabad, are not named on the list. If your domicile shows one of them, ask the nearest institute which one you belong to before you apply.

Seven documents go with the admission form
Attested copies of seven papers must be attached to the admission form, the department says. Gather them now, so you are not chasing a certificate when the admission notice appears.
- Matric result card, or the equivalent certificate.
- Domicile certificate.
- Character certificate.
- Four passport-size photographs.
- Father's or guardian's CNIC.
- NADRA Form B, if you do not yet have a CNIC.
- Father's or guardian's mobile or contact number.
Hafiz-e-Quran candidates should also carry the original certificate for the oral test. If you do not yet have a domicile certificate, start with applying for a domicile certificate, and fix any spelling error on an old one through the Punjab domicile correction process.

Admission dates come by advertisement, not on a fixed calendar
The department's page does not give an admission date, a fee or a seat count. Those come in the yearly admission advertisement. Until it appears, the safest step is to prepare the papers and contact the institute for your district.
We checked the department's press advertisements page on 1 November 2026 and found no DAS admission notice there yet. Ask the institute directly by visiting, or watch the department's advertisements.
If you would rather study agriculture at degree level, university admissions run on their own timetables; one example in Sindh is Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam admission 2027. For a family already farming, the schemes on offer are listed in Punjab's farmer schemes.
