Download YouTube Videos in Pakistan: Free Offline in the App, Premium Downloads and Every Limit
Pakistan is on YouTube's list for free offline downloads: tap More, then Download, and watch for 48 hours. Where files go, data settings and what Premium adds.
You can download many YouTube videos free in Pakistan inside the YouTube app: open the video, tap More below it, then Download. Pakistan is on YouTube's list of countries where this free offline feature works, and each download plays for 48 hours before the app needs to reconnect. YouTube Premium adds downloads for more videos and longer offline play.
Below are the free steps, where your downloads go, the settings that stop them eating mobile data, what Premium changes, and why the Download button is missing on some videos.
Pakistan is on YouTube's list for free offline downloads
YouTube's help centre lists the countries where certain videos can be downloaded from the mobile app without Premium, and Pakistan is on it, along with India, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and others. Downloads work on Android and iPhone, not on a computer.
| Question | Free app in Pakistan | YouTube Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Which videos | Certain videos only | Downloads as a Premium benefit |
| Offline play | Up to 48 hours, then reconnect | Up to 29 days, then reconnect |
| Devices | Mobile app | Mobile app; computer as well |
| Saved to gallery | No, inside the app only | No, inside the app only |
| Music as MP3 | No | No (music goes to YouTube Music) |
YouTube adds that in some countries non-music content can play for up to 29 days without the internet even on the free feature, but it does not name those countries. Plan on 48 hours for Pakistan.
How to download a YouTube video free on your phone
Open the video's watch page, tap More below the video, then tap Download. When it finishes, the Downloaded label turns blue. If the connection drops mid-download, it carries on by itself when you reconnect.
- Sign in to the YouTube app. You must be signed in to download.
- Open the video you want.
- Below the video, tap More, then Download.
- Pick a quality if the app asks.
- Wait until Downloaded turns blue.
Downloaded videos only play while you are signed in with the same account. Liking and commenting need a connection, so those wait until you are back online. The free downloads make long bus rides and areas with patchy signal much easier, which is the whole point of the feature here.
Your downloads live in the You tab, not your gallery
Go to the You tab, then tap the Downloaded filter or the Downloads playlist in your Library. YouTube stores downloads encrypted on the phone, so they play only inside the YouTube app and never appear in your gallery.
To remove one video, tap Downloaded below it and choose Delete, or open the Downloads playlist, tap More next to the video and choose Delete from downloads. To clear everything, go to Settings, then Background and downloads, then Delete all downloads.
Three settings stop downloads eating your data
In Settings, then Background and downloads, turn on Download over Wi-Fi only, set a lower Download quality, and turn off Recommend Downloads if you do not want suggestions. By default YouTube downloads over both Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Download over Wi-Fi only: stops downloads on your mobile package.
- Download quality: higher quality uses more data and storage and takes longer.
- Recommend Downloads: suggestions appear on the Downloads page; they only save if you tap Download.
Storage matters too. YouTube says you cannot download more once less than 5% of your phone's storage is left. If you download on mobile data anyway, check whether a social bundle such as the Jazz YouTube and TikTok packages covers YouTube on your plan.
YouTube Premium adds more downloads and 29 days offline
With Premium, signed-in members tap Download below a video, and downloads play offline for up to 29 days before the app must reconnect. Premium also covers downloading on a computer and music downloads in the YouTube Music app.
The free feature is enough for most people who download a few videos for a trip. Premium makes sense if you want ad-free viewing, background play and downloads together. Check the current YouTube Premium price in Pakistan before you subscribe. Premium also unlocks the higher bitrate 1080p Premium on some videos.
Why the Download button is missing
Some videos are not offered for offline play, and in most countries YouTube simply hides the Download button on them. It also fails if you are not signed in, your storage is below 5%, or you are on a computer without Premium.
YouTube also says it is not possible to download audio, music or MP3 files from the YouTube app. On a computer, you can download only videos you uploaded yourself, unless you have Premium.
Avoid websites and modded apps that promise to save any YouTube video to your gallery. They sit outside YouTube's own app, and fake APKs are a common way phones get infected. If you installed one, the steps to remove a fake APK on Android apply to any source.
Common questions
Can I download YouTube videos free in Pakistan?
Yes, certain videos, from the mobile app. Pakistan is on YouTube's list for free offline downloads.
How long do free YouTube downloads last?
Up to 48 hours offline. After that, reconnect to mobile data or Wi-Fi so the app can check the video.
Why can't I find my YouTube downloads in the gallery?
YouTube stores them encrypted, so they play only in the YouTube app under You, then Downloads.
Can I download YouTube videos on my laptop?
Only with Premium, or if you uploaded the video yourself.
Can I download songs as MP3 from YouTube?
No. YouTube says audio, music and MP3 files cannot be downloaded from the YouTube app.
Do downloaded playlists update by themselves?
Sometimes. If you downloaded or watched a playlist in the last 30 days, new videos added to it may download automatically.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 25 October 2026. On that date we read YouTube's help pages Watch videos offline on mobile in select countries and regions, which lists Pakistan, YouTube videos offline FAQs, Download videos to watch offline for Premium members, and Use your YouTube Premium benefits. YouTube does not say which videos are downloadable for free in Pakistan or which countries get 29 days on the free feature. We did not test a download from Pakistan.
