How to Register for the Benazir Nashonuma Nutrition Program in Pakistan

Register for the Benazir Nashonuma program if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a child under two years old. What you need, where to go and what you get.

To register for the Benazir Nashonuma program, go to your nearest Nashonuma facilitation center, usually set up at a tehsil or district headquarters hospital, with your CNIC and your child's B-form if the baby is already born. You must already be registered with BISP. A staff member checks your CNIC against the NSER database on the Nashonuma app, and if you qualify, you are enrolled on the spot.

Nashonuma is still running under that name in 2026. We checked bisp.gov.pk directly on 4 October 2026 and found a press release from 24 April 2026 describing a visit to a working Benazir Nashonuma Center in Mohmand, and a separate BISP page stating the program now runs through 578 facilitation centers nationwide. Nothing on BISP's own site suggests a rename or a merger into another scheme.

The program matters because stunting, when a child's growth is permanently held back by poor nutrition in the first two years, is hard to reverse later. Nashonuma targets exactly that window: pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children under two.

Nashonuma is still active and still carries the Benazir name

Benazir Nashonuma remains BISP's name for this program as of October 2026, confirmed on BISP's own website. It has not been renamed, folded into Kafaalat, or closed. It runs alongside BISP's cash programs, not instead of them.

BISP's own page on its Conditional Cash Transfer work states that the program reaches 1.4 million active beneficiaries through 578 facilitation centers across the country, with 169 separate Nutrition Stabilization Centers that spread nutrition awareness. Those numbers come directly from bisp.gov.pk, read on 4 October 2026, not from a news summary.

A press release from BISP's Mohmand district office, dated 24 April 2026, shows the program operating on the ground. BISP's Chairperson, Senator Rubina Khalid, visited a Benazir Nashonuma Center set up inside a Rural Health Center and spoke about mobile registration vans reaching remote areas. That is a current, working program, not an old one still listed out of habit.

Only existing BISP beneficiaries can register for Nashonuma

Nashonuma is not a program you join on its own. You first need to be a BISP beneficiary, usually through the Kafaalat cash transfer or by passing the National Socio-Economic Registry means test, before a Nashonuma center will enrol you.

That link trips a lot of people up. A woman who is pregnant but has never registered with BISP cannot simply walk into a Nashonuma center and sign up. She needs to complete BISP eligibility registration first, and the NSER record built during that process is what the Nashonuma center checks against.

If your household has never been surveyed for the NSER, ask at your nearest BISP tehsil office about getting registered. Once that record exists, a Nashonuma enrollment can usually be completed the same day you visit a facilitation center with the right documents.

Registration happens in person at a facilitation center

There is no online Nashonuma application. You register in person at a facilitation center, usually attached to a tehsil headquarters hospital or district headquarters hospital, where BISP staff verify your record and enrol you the same day.

Here is the process, based on BISP's published registration steps:

  1. Confirm your BISP registration. Check your CNIC status through BISP's own channels before visiting a center, since Nashonuma sits on top of an existing BISP or NSER record.
  2. Locate your nearest Nashonuma facilitation center. These are usually housed at tehsil or district headquarters hospitals, and in remote areas, BISP's mobile registration vans visit on a schedule set locally.
  3. Carry your original CNIC. Staff need it to pull up your record in the NSER database.
  4. Bring the child's B-form, if the baby is already born, along with the vaccination card, which the center uses to track the child's health visits.
  5. Let staff check your CNIC on the Nashonuma app. This confirms your household is in the NSER database and that you meet the pregnancy or child-age criteria.
  6. Collect your enrollment confirmation. Once verified, you are added to the program and told when to return for your next visit.
Five steps to register at a Benazir Nashonuma facilitation center

Registered beneficiaries get food, counselling and referrals

A registered Nashonuma beneficiary receives specialised nutritious food, regular health counselling and a referral path into antenatal and postnatal care at the linked facility. The exact cash stipend amount should be confirmed at your facilitation center, since we could not verify a current figure directly on bisp.gov.pk.

The specialised nutritious food is a fortified paste, given to mothers and children to close gaps in their daily diet. Counselling covers breastfeeding practice and child growth, delivered by staff at the facilitation center during each visit.

Growth monitoring is the quiet, useful part. Staff weigh and measure the child at each visit and log it, which is how stunting gets caught early rather than noticed years later when it is harder to fix.

The food and counselling under Nashonuma run separately from BISP's regular quarterly cash transfer, so checking how much your BISP payment is will not tell you anything about Nashonuma support, since the two are tracked on different schedules.

Several reports describe a cash stipend paid alongside the food support, paid at intervals during pregnancy and after birth. We read this on secondary sources, not on BISP's own page, so this article does not state an exact rupee amount. Ask the facilitation center directly what the current stipend is when you register, since BISP revises these figures from time to time.

Mobile registration vans reach families far from a center

BISP runs mobile registration vans in remote districts so families who cannot easily reach a fixed facilitation center can still register. Senator Rubina Khalid confirmed this directly during her April 2026 visit to Mohmand, a district where terrain makes travel to a hospital genuinely hard for some households.

If you live far from a tehsil or district headquarters hospital, ask at your local BISP office whether a mobile van is scheduled for your area. This detail rarely appears in general program summaries, but it is the practical answer for anyone in a hard-to-reach union council.

Watch for registration scams around Nashonuma

Nashonuma enrollment does not involve a processing fee, and it is never completed by sending money to a phone number. If anyone asks for a payment to register you or your child, that is not BISP.

Genuine enrollment happens face to face at a facilitation center, where a staff member checks your CNIC against the NSER database on an official device. There is no shortcut that skips that in-person check, and no legitimate version of the program that runs purely by text message.

If you suspect a scam, report it the same way you would any fraudulent request for money tied to a government scheme, through a Pakistan Citizen's Portal complaint.

Common questions

Is the Benazir Nashonuma program still active in 2026?

Yes. BISP's own website shows it running through 578 facilitation centers, confirmed by a press release from April 2026 describing an active Nashonuma center in Mohmand.

Do I need to already be a BISP beneficiary to register for Nashonuma?

Yes. Nashonuma enrolls women and children who are already registered with BISP or whose household passes the NSER means test. It is not a standalone program.

Can I register for Nashonuma online?

No. Registration happens in person at a facilitation center, where staff check your CNIC against the NSER database.

What documents do I need to bring?

Your CNIC, the child's B-form if the baby is born, and the vaccination card. These let staff confirm eligibility and track the child's health visits.

How old can a child be and still qualify for Nashonuma?

Under two years old. The program also covers the mother during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Is there a fee to register for Nashonuma?

No. Registration is free. Any message asking for a processing fee to secure enrollment is not from BISP.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 4 October 2026. The program's current status, the 578 facilitation center and 169 Nutrition Stabilization Center figures, and the description of mobile registration vans were read directly on bisp.gov.pk, including a press release dated 24 April 2026. The registration steps involving the CNIC check, B-form and vaccination card reflect the published process from BISP's launch of the program and could not be re-confirmed on a dedicated BISP program page on this date, since that page did not load. The stipend amount is not stated here because it could not be verified on bisp.gov.pk directly.
