FBR Counts 13,731 POS Integrated Retailers and 37,770 Branches Up to 31 August 2026
FBR's own page counts 13,731 POS integrated retailers and 37,770 branches up to 31 August 2026. See the split by Tier-1, textile and leather, and restaurants.

Short answer: FBR's own page says 13,731 retailers were integrated with its point of sale (POS) system up to 31 August 2026, with 37,770 branches in total. Tier-1 retailers make up 12,016 of them, textile and leather retailers 563 and restaurants 1,152. The page shows counts, not shop names.
A chain of 19 outlets counts once in this table, but its 19 tills all send sales to the tax authority. That is why the branch figure is almost three times the integration figure, and why it is the number to watch.
We opened the FBR POS integrated retailers page on 12 October 2026. It is titled "POS Integrated Retailers with FBR System (Upto 31-08-2026)". Everything below comes from that page unless we say otherwise.
FBR counts 13,731 integrations and 37,770 branches
The table on FBR's page has three rows below a total. It shows 13,731 total integrations and 37,770 total branches, split between Tier-1 retailers, textile and leather retailers and restaurants. The figures run up to 31 August 2026.
| Group | Integrations | Branches |
|---|---|---|
| Tier-1 retailers | 12,016 | 25,208 |
| Textile and leather retailers | 563 | 10,770 |
| Restaurants | 1,152 | 1,792 |
| Total | 13,731 | 37,770 |

The three group rows add up to the totals on the page. We checked: 12,016 plus 563 plus 1,152 is 13,731, and 25,208 plus 10,770 plus 1,792 is 37,770.
Textile and leather retailers run the biggest chains
By our arithmetic from FBR's table, textile and leather integrations average about 19 branches each, against about 2 for Tier-1 retailers and about 1.6 for restaurants. A small number of large textile and leather groups account for a large share of outlets.
That is a calculation, not an FBR statement. It treats each integration as one business. FBR does not say how it counts a business with several brands, so read the average as a guide only.
In share terms, Tier-1 retailers are 87.5 per cent of integrations but about 67 per cent of branches. Textile and leather retailers are about 4 per cent of integrations and about 29 per cent of branches. Restaurants are about 8 per cent of integrations and about 5 per cent of branches.
The page lists counts, not shop names
The page we read gives numbers only. It does not publish a list of retailer names, a city split or a monthly change. A shopper cannot use it to look up a particular shop, so the page cannot answer whether your local store is on the list.
The way to check a single purchase is the invoice. FBR lists two methods on its POS invoice verification page, the Tax Asaan app and an SMS to 9966. Our guide on verifying an FBR POS invoice sets out both, step by step.
- Keep the receipt that prints an FBR invoice number and a QR code.
- Open the FBR POS menu in the Tax Asaan app and tap Verify Invoice.
- Type the number or scan the QR code.
- Or send INV, your CNIC number and the invoice number by SMS to 9966.
- Read the answer: verified or unverified.

The count has been rising through 2026
The 13,731 total is higher than counts reported earlier this year. A report put the total at 12,861 up to 10 March 2026 and 13,454 up to 1 July 2026. We could not read those earlier FBR pages, so treat those two figures as reported and unconfirmed.
If both are right, the count rose by 870 between March and August, or about 277 in the two months to 31 August. That is a small rise next to the size of the retail sector. FBR has not said how many retailers it expects to bring in.
| Date | Integrations | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 10 March 2026 | 12,861 | Reported, not confirmed on FBR's page |
| Up to 1 July 2026 | 13,454 | Reported, not confirmed on FBR's page |
| Up to 31 August 2026 | 13,731 | Read on FBR's page, 12 October 2026 |
What it means for retailers and shoppers
For shoppers, an integrated shop should issue an FBR invoice that can be verified. For retailers, FBR lists a general order on integrating Tier-1 retailers among its legal provisions, and it has drafted a tax credit around the equipment.
The same FBR section lists legal provisions for the scheme. They include a procedure for sealing and de-sealing the premises of Tier-1 retailers and a Sales Tax Rules chapter on licensing, e-invoices and integration. We did not read the full texts for this report.
On the money side, FBR has drafted Rule 33U, and our summary of the 10% tax credit for POS and integration equipment lists its conditions. It is still a draft in our latest read, so a business should not claim it yet.
Smaller shopkeepers are on a different track. The Finance Minister said the retailers' scheme is not a one year deal, as covered in our report on the retailers' tax scheme. The small shopkeeper route is explained in the guide to filing under FBR's small shopkeeper scheme.
What is not known
FBR's page does not say which retailers are still missing, how many Tier-1 retailers are estimated to exist or what share of sales is now recorded through POS. We also do not have a figure for fines or sealing actions against non-integrated shops.
We will not guess those numbers. If FBR posts a named list or a city table, that would be the more useful figure for shoppers.
Common questions
How many retailers has FBR integrated with POS?
FBR's page shows 13,731 integrations up to 31 August 2026, covering 37,770 branches in total.
What is a Tier-1 retailer?
It is a large retailer that FBR has placed in its Tier-1 class for POS integration. FBR counts 12,016 Tier-1 integrations with 25,208 branches up to 31 August 2026.
Does the page list shop names?
No. The page we read shows counts by group and no names, so you cannot look up a shop from it.
How can I check if a receipt is genuine?
Use the Tax Asaan app's Verify Invoice option or send an SMS to 9966 in FBR's format. The app reports the invoice as verified or unverified.
Are restaurants counted?
Yes. FBR's table shows 1,152 restaurant integrations with 1,792 branches. Restaurants in Punjab and Sindh also deal with their provincial authorities.
Does the count include textile shops?
Yes. Textile and leather retailers are a separate row, with 563 integrations and 10,770 branches.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the table on the FBR POS integrated retailers page on 12 October 2026. The March and July counts come from earlier reports and we could not open the matching FBR pages. The page can change, so check it again before you cite a figure.
