Germany Family Reunion Visa From Pakistan: Spouse Visa for 75 Euros, A1 German and the New Online Portal
Germany family reunion visa from Pakistan costs 75 euros and uses the online portal since 15 January 2026. See the A1 rule, 22 papers and the Rs 79,000 check.

The Germany family reunion visa from Pakistan, used by wives, husbands and children joining a relative in Germany, now goes through the online Consular Services Portal at digital.diplo.de for the Embassy in Islamabad, costs 75 euros for an adult and 37.50 euros for a child, paid in rupees, and usually needs an A1 German certificate for a spouse. If you join a German or EU citizen, there is no visa fee.
The old appointment waiting list in Islamabad ended on 15 January 2026. Many families still wait for an email that will never come. We read the German Missions in Pakistan family reunion page, updated on 25 August 2026, on 1 November 2026. Below is who applies where, the full document list, the language rule and the new document verification charge.
Islamabad takes family reunion applications only on the online portal
Since 15 January 2026, the German Embassy in Islamabad accepts family reunion applications only through the Consular Services Portal. Appointment scheduling through the waiting list was stopped. The Embassy says anyone without an appointment yet will not receive one.
| Your situation | Where to apply |
|---|---|
| Pakistani living outside Sindh and Balochistan | Consular Services Portal, for the Embassy in Islamabad |
| Pakistani living in Sindh or Balochistan | Appointment with the Consulate General in Karachi |
| Joining an EU citizen who is not German | Islamabad waiting list, with an expedited appointment |
| Afghan citizen | Germany's visa section for Afghanistan |
The EU citizen route is the odd one out. A Pakistani wife joining, say, a Spanish or Polish husband in Germany still registers on the Islamabad waiting list. EU free movement rules give her a faster appointment, and she should say clearly that it is a family reunion to an EU citizen.

Upload first, then book when the Embassy sends a link
For Islamabad, you submit everything on the portal. The Embassy reviews it. If it is complete, you receive a link to book an appointment. At that appointment you show your originals, pay the fee and give your fingerprints and photo.
- Create an account on digital.diplo.de and start a family reunion application.
- Fill in the Videx long stay form for each applicant on a computer, and sign it.
- Upload every document in the Embassy's order, following its portal guideline PDF.
- Wait for the Embassy's review and the booking link by email.
- Attend with originals, A4 copies and the fee, and give biometrics.
The Embassy admits some upload buttons are missing or renamed because the system is new. Follow its guideline PDF closely. For Karachi, bring originals and your passport to the appointment. The passport stays at the Consulate while the visa is processed.
The fee is 75 euros, and verification can add Rs 79,000
The visa fee is 75 euros for adults and 37.50 euros for children up to 17, paid in rupees. Joining a German or EU national costs nothing. The Embassy may also order a document check costing Rs 79,000 for applications after 1 September 2026.
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Visa fee, adult | 75 euros, paid in PKR |
| Visa fee, child 0 to 17 | 37.50 euros, paid in PKR |
| Joining a German or EU national | No visa fee |
| Document verification, if requested | Rs 75,000, or Rs 79,000 after 1 September 2026 |
The verification is not automatic. The Embassy says it reserves the right to ask for it, along with more documents or another set of applications. If you are asked, it is usually because a Pakistani civil document needs checking. Budget for it anyway.

A spouse needs A1 German from an approved test
A spouse usually needs an A1 German certificate no older than one year. The Embassy accepts Goethe-Institut, OSD, telc or TestDaF certificates. Children aged 16 or 17 joining alone may need C1. Several groups are exempt from the A1 rule.
- Spouses of recognised refugees, if the marriage took place before the partner left Pakistan.
- Spouses of EU Blue Card holders and of some skilled worker, researcher and ICT permit holders.
- Spouses of non-German EU nationals.
- Parents of minor German children.
For the C1 rule, the Embassy notes that in Pakistan a valid certificate can only come from the Goethe-Institut. Book the exam early. Test seats can fill up weeks ahead, and a certificate older than one year at the date of application is not accepted.
The document list runs to 22 items, in a fixed order
The Embassy lists 22 items and wants them in its order, copied on A4 paper, unstapled. Core papers are the passport, CNIC, NADRA birth certificates, the Nikah Nama with translation, the NADRA marriage certificate and the German residence papers.
| From you in Pakistan | From your family member in Germany |
|---|---|
| Videx form and one biometric photo | Meldebescheinigung, no older than 6 months |
| Passport, old passports and CNIC copies | Residence permit copy |
| Original NADRA birth certificate | Passport copies, current and old |
| Original Nikah Nama in Urdu with English translation | Original NADRA birth certificate |
| Original NADRA marriage registration certificate | Biometric photo |
| Travel insurance for one year, A1 certificate | BAMF refugee notice, if relevant |
The Embassy also asks for extra proof of the relationship, such as wedding photos, chat or call history going back to the start, and proof of remittances. Add the applicant's declaration and the legal representation form. Your Nikah Nama may first need attestation by the Foreign Office, and a correct family registration certificate helps when names differ across papers.

Refugee families have one extra deadline. The relative in Germany must file a timely notice within 3 months of recognition, online at fap.diplo.de or with the local aliens' authority. Joining the waiting list does not count as that notice.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 1 November 2026. We read the German Missions in Pakistan family reunion visa page, dated 25 August 2026, and its links to the Consular Services Portal and the Karachi appointment system. The fees, document list, language rules, verification charge and portal change come from that page. We did not open an account on the portal, and we could not confirm current A1 exam fees or waiting times at the Goethe-Institut in Pakistan.
