Indus Hospital treats patients free of cost, with no bill to the patient or the family. To be seen, go in person to the outpatient clinic or the emergency department of an Indus hospital. The Karachi Korangi Campus runs outpatient clinics from 8 am to 8 pm, and its emergency is open 24 hours. Its phone number is 021-111-111-880.

We read the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) website on 2 October 2026. Every hospital page we opened says the same thing: care is free for everyone who walks in. Indus says it helps more than 278,000 patients a month. There is no income test on its pages and no card to apply for. The hard part is the queue, not the paperwork.

Indus Hospital cost to patient and family: zero, with over 278,000 patients a month

Indus Hospital treats every patient free, with no income test

Indus Hospital and Health Network is a not-for-profit network. Its homepage says it gives care to all, regardless of ability to pay, and lists the cost to the patient and family as zero. Its hospital pages repeat that treatment is completely free of cost.

That is unusual in Pakistan. Most free schemes, such as the Sehat Card or Bait-ul-Mal, check your CNIC, your income or your district first. Indus pages describe no such test. If you need help paying at another hospital instead, Bait-ul-Mal medical assistance works through a different route.

Indus is not run by the government, but it does work with it. Its network page says it runs 12 multidisciplinary hospitals, some managed in partnership with the government. The Badin hospital, for example, was formerly the district headquarters hospital, and Indus now runs it.

Indus hospitals, addresses and timings

The two main campuses are Korangi in Karachi and Jubilee Town in Lahore. Indus also runs hospitals in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Badin, Gwadar, Islamabad and Bhong. Outpatient timings differ by hospital, so check the row for yours before you travel.

How to get treated at Indus Hospital, step by step

Indus does not describe an online registration on its website. You register at the hospital itself. Go to the family medicine or outpatient counter during clinic hours, or straight to emergency if it is urgent. Take your CNIC and old reports.

  1. Pick the right hospital. Use the table above. For kidney problems in South Punjab, the Multan kidney institute is the specialist one.
  2. Arrive early on a weekday. Korangi saw 410,145 outpatient visits in 2022 to 2023, by its own count. Morning queues are long.
  3. Take your CNIC, or the B-Form for a child. This is our advice, not a published rule. It helps the counter create your record.
  4. Take all old reports and medicines. Doctors decide faster when they can see earlier tests and prescriptions.
  5. Keep the patient number you are given. Korangi says it runs fully paperless, so your file lives in its computer system. Quote the number on every visit.
Steps to get free treatment at Indus Hospital

Indus emergency departments are free and open 24 hours

Indus says its emergency services are free and staffed around the clock, for both adults and children. You do not need an appointment for emergency care. If the patient cannot travel safely, call an ambulance first and then go to the nearest emergency.

The emergency page lists emergency, trauma and resuscitation care, with separate departments for children and adults. Korangi alone counted 208,771 emergency visits in 2022 to 2023. In a true emergency, call 1122 in Punjab, KP and other areas where Rescue 1122 runs, and let the crew decide the nearest suitable hospital.

Services Indus offers beyond the general clinic

Indus lists childhood cancer care, a blood centre, physical rehabilitation, mental health support, dialysis in Multan and maternity care. Some services exist only at certain campuses, so ask the family medicine doctor to refer you inside the network.

  • Childhood cancer: Korangi has one of the largest children's cancer units in Pakistan, according to Indus. It says it has treated more than 8,514 children with cancer.
  • Physical rehabilitation: the Korangi centre offers physiotherapy, artificial limbs and braces, psychological therapy, and speech and hearing services.
  • Mental health: an adult psychosocial service offers psychological care, palliative care and social services.
  • Kidney care: the Multan institute lists dialysis, urology, lithotripsy and nephrology.

A separate WHO plan for free childhood cancer medicines in Pakistani hospitals is still being prepared. Indus care for children with cancer is free now.

Report anyone who asks you for money at Indus

Treatment at Indus should cost you nothing. Donation counters exist, but giving is voluntary. If anyone asks you to pay for treatment or a faster turn, report it in confidence to whistleblower@tih.org.pk, the email Indus publishes for misconduct.

We found no paid online registration for patients on the Indus website. Its official address is indushospital.org.pk.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 2 October 2026. We read the Indus hospitals page, its homepage, and the individual pages for the Korangi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Badin, Gwadar and Islamabad hospitals, plus its emergency and adult psychosocial service pages, all on indushospital.org.pk. Patient numbers are as Indus reports them, mostly for 2022 to 2025. Indus does not publish a registration procedure, so the document advice in the steps is ours. We did not visit a campus or call the hospital.
