HBL Konnect Account Opening: SMS Code to 8425, App or Shop, Every Limit and PIN Code

To open an HBL Konnect account by SMS, send BBAO, a space, your 13-digit CNIC, a space and your city to 8425, for example "BBAO 1234512345123 Karachi". You can also open one in the app or at any Konnect Shop with your CNIC and a PTA-registered SIM in your own name. Your mobile number becomes your account number. Below are every SMS code, the Level 0 and Level 1 limits, how to set your PIN, and how to activate the Konnect debit card.

HBL Konnect can be opened in four ways

HBL lists four channels to open a Konnect account: the Konnect Mobile App, a Konnect Shop agent, an SMS to 8425, and Konnect Customer Centers. You need a valid CNIC and a PTA-registered mobile number in your own name. There is no opening fee and no minimum deposit.

HBL allows only one Konnect account per CNIC. The account cannot be transferred to anyone else. And you cannot change its mobile number later, so open it on the SIM you plan to keep.

Six SMS codes to 8425 run the account without the app

HBL publishes six keywords for 8425: BBBAL for balance, BBVL for limits, BBMS for a mini statement, BBPIN to set your PIN, BBHELP for the menu, and BBVA to check an agent is genuine. Opening uses BBAO.

The PIN code needs care. HBL's FAQ shows the example as "BBPIN 1234 1234", which reads as the PIN typed twice to confirm it. The SMS page shows "BBPIN" with one 4-digit PIN. If one format fails, try the other, and call 111-425-111 if neither works.

Level 0 allows Rs 25,000 a day, Level 1 allows Rs 50,000

A new Konnect account starts at Level 0, with Rs 25,000 a day, Rs 50,000 a month, Rs 200,000 a year and a Rs 200,000 balance cap. Level 1 allows Rs 50,000 a day and Rs 200,000 a month, with no yearly or balance cap.

To move up to Level 1, visit a Konnect Shop or an HBL biometric ATM. These limits cover everything on the account, whichever channel you use, and money coming in counts against the cash in limit just as money going out counts against cash out. The Konnect debit card is activated by SMS to 4250, then at an HBL ATM

Request a Konnect debit card at any Konnect agent. To activate it, send DC and the last 4 digits of the card to 4250 from your Konnect number, for example DC2205. You get a 5-digit code, valid for 3 days, to use at any HBL ATM.

1. Send DC plus the card's last 4 digits to 4250, such as DC2205.
2. Take the card, the 5-digit code and your CNIC to an HBL ATM.
3. Insert the card, choose a language and enter the 5-digit code.
4. Enter your date of birth and your 13-digit CNIC number.
5. Choose a 4-digit PIN, enter it again, and wait for the success message.

Note the short code. Konnect cards use 4250, while HBL's regular debit cards use 14250. If your code expires, HBL says to call Konnect CustomerCare. The card works only inside Pakistan, at 1Link or M-net ATMs with a matching scheme logo, and it follows your account's Level 0 or Level 1 limits. HBL asks for no documents, only a balance at least equal to the card's annual fee.

A lost phone does not expose the account, but block it anyway

HBL says no account data is stored on your phone and nothing goes through without your transaction PIN. Still, call Konnect CustomerCare on 111-425-111 to block the account temporarily if your phone is lost. You can unblock it later the same way.

The same number handles address changes, closing the account and linking an HBL branch account to Konnect. If you sent money to a CNIC and it has not been collected yet, call from your registered number to block or revoke the transfer. The money can then be collected back with an OTP. Never share your PIN, OTP or app password with anyone, including people who claim to be from HBL.

Konnect also has a Home Remittance Account for money from abroad

The Konnect Home Remittance Account takes foreign remittances on your mobile number, with a Rs 50,000 daily and Rs 500,000 monthly cash withdrawal limit and a Rs 1.5 million balance cap. HBL adds free airtime of Rs 2 for each US dollar received.
