Check the tax before you choose a hybrid
Hybrids in Pakistan pay a higher sales tax than they used to, and the rate has been in dispute. Kia's price list says outright that its hybrid prices may change. Add withholding tax and registration to every price above before you compare.
The background is in our report on how the hybrid car tax rose on 1 July. Then follow these steps.
- Shortlist two or three hybrids from the table above.
- Ask each dealer for a written on-road price with every tax shown.
- Ask whether the price is fixed at booking or can change before delivery.
- Pay only into the maker's own account, against a signed booking order.
- Keep the booking order and track your delivery.
