IBFT Charges in Pakistan: Free Up to Rs 25,000 a Month, Then Rs 200 at Most
IBFT is free up to Rs 25,000 a month at HBL, MCB, UBL, Allied, Alfalah, Bank AL Habib and Meezan, then 0.1% or Rs 200. See fees by amount and how to avoid them.

Sending money to another bank is free up to Rs 25,000 a month at HBL, MCB, UBL, Allied Bank, Bank Alfalah, Bank AL Habib and Meezan Bank. After that, each transfer costs 0.1 per cent of the amount or Rs 200, whichever is lower. So the most you pay for one transfer is Rs 200.
IBFT means Inter Bank Funds Transfer. It is the service behind sending money from your HBL app to a friend's UBL account. We read the Schedule of Bank Charges for 1 July to 31 December 2026 from all seven banks on 7 October 2026. Every one of them uses the same rule, which is rare in banking.
The free Rs 25,000 is a monthly total across your account, not per transfer. Spend it on two Rs 12,500 transfers and the third one is charged.
All seven banks charge the same IBFT fee
The fee is up to 0.1 per cent of the transfer, with a cap of Rs 200 for one transfer. Several schedules say the charge includes FED and sales tax, so the figure is what you pay. The words "up to" matter at HBL, which says the charge "may be" applied up to that amount.
| Bank | Free each month | Above that, per transfer |
|---|---|---|
| HBL | Rs 25,000 | Up to 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
| MCB | Rs 25,000 | 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
| UBL | Rs 25,000 | 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
| Allied Bank | Rs 25,000 | 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
| Bank Alfalah | Rs 25,000 | 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
| Bank AL Habib | Rs 25,000 | 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
| Meezan Bank | Rs 25,000 | 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
This applies to transfers through the branch, ATM, mobile app and internet banking in the schedules we read. UBL's schedule lists transfers over Raast, the instant payment system, under the same 0.1 per cent or Rs 200 rule. Our guide on how to use the Raast payment system explains how those instant transfers work.
What a transfer costs at different amounts
The cap means large transfers are cheap per rupee. The fee reaches Rs 200 at exactly Rs 200,000, because 0.1 per cent of Rs 200,000 is Rs 200. Anything bigger costs the same Rs 200.
| Transfer amount | Fee after the free Rs 25,000 is used |
|---|---|
| Rs 10,000 | Rs 10 |
| Rs 50,000 | Rs 50 |
| Rs 100,000 | Rs 100 |
| Rs 200,000 | Rs 200 |
| Rs 1,000,000 | Rs 200 |
These are our own sums from the rule, and we have not made a paid transfer at each bank to confirm the exact deduction. Check the SMS after your first charged transfer.
Small transfers are the costly ones
The fee looks tiny, but it adds up for someone who sends often. Ten transfers of Rs 10,000 in a month use Rs 100,000. The first Rs 25,000 is free. The remaining Rs 75,000 is charged at 0.1 per cent per transfer, about Rs 75 in total. For a business sending twenty large payments, it is Rs 4,000.
One large transfer is cheaper than many small ones. If you can, pay a landlord or a supplier once rather than in parts, and keep the free Rs 25,000 for small gifts.
Ways to avoid the IBFT fee
Some accounts do not pay at all. HBL's schedule says Freedom accounts that keep an average balance of Rs 40,000 or more, and HBL @Work accounts, are exempt from IBFT charges. That is the only exemption we found stated in those words.
- Check the account type you hold and look for an exemption in its terms.
- Keep the average balance an exempt account needs, if you are close to it.
- Use the free Rs 25,000 early in the month for the smallest transfers.
- Combine payments into one transfer when you can.
Wallet transfers have a different fee table. The charges for Easypaisa and JazzCash are in our note on JazzCash and Easypaisa fees in 2026.
Other fees on a transfer you should know
IBFT is only one fee. Withdrawing from another bank's ATM costs Rs 35 per withdrawal on the schedules we read. Bank AL Habib charges Rs 750 to stop a payment, and a bounced cheque costs Rs 1,000. Our list of bank charges to avoid in Pakistan covers more.
If you sent money to the wrong account, the fee does not come back. Contact your bank at once with the transaction ID, and see our step-by-step guide on getting money back from a wrong transfer if the money went to a wallet.
Common questions
Is IBFT free in Pakistan?
Up to Rs 25,000 a month it is free at the seven banks we read. Above that, the fee is 0.1 per cent or Rs 200, whichever is lower.
What is the maximum IBFT charge?
Rs 200 per transfer, the cap in every schedule we checked. It reaches that at a transfer of Rs 200,000.
Does the free Rs 25,000 apply to each transfer?
No. It is a total for the month on your account. Bank Alfalah calls it an aggregate sending limit per account or wallet.
Do I pay when I receive money by IBFT?
The schedules we read describe charges on sending. We did not find a charge for receiving, but check your own bank's terms.
Are there IBFT limits per day?
Yes, and they differ by card and account. Meezan Bank, for example, lists different single and daily limits for each card. Check your app for yours.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Checked on 7 October 2026 in the Schedule of Bank Charges for 1 July to 31 December 2026 of HBL, MCB, UBL, Allied Bank, Bank Alfalah, Bank AL Habib and Meezan Bank. Fees are reset every six months, and UBL, MCB and Allied state them inclusive of tax. The sample fees in the amount table are our own arithmetic.
