inDrive and Bykea Ride Safety and Complaints in Pakistan After Careem's Exit
How to stay safe and complain when using inDrive and Bykea in Pakistan after Careem left: SOS steps, reporting a driver, harassment cases and when to call 15.

To stay safe in an inDrive ride, open the side menu, tap Safety, and add up to five trusted contacts before you travel. During a trip, tap the shield icon on the map to share your live location, call emergency services or message support. In a real emergency, call the police on 15.
Careem stopped operating in Pakistan in 2025, and its riders moved to other apps. Our earlier report on Careem leaving Pakistan records the exit date as 18 July 2025. Two of the apps that took its place are inDrive and Bykea.
Neither app is a taxi company in the old sense. inDrive describes itself as an online aggregator where users create and perform requests in the app themselves. That matters when something goes wrong, because your first stop is the in-app support, not a driver's boss. This guide shows the steps from each company's own pages and the official police routes if the app is not enough.
inDrive puts its safety tools in one Safety Center
inDrive's help pages say you can reach its Safety Center in two places. Before a ride, open the side menu and tap Safety. During a trip, tap the shield icon on the ride map. Inside you can contact support, call emergency services, share trip details and manage trusted contacts.
| Tool | What inDrive says it does |
|---|---|
| Trusted contacts | Save up to 5 numbers; they can receive your ride details and may be contacted in an emergency |
| Share trip | Sends a map with your live location and the driver's details |
| Emergency button | Calls police, ambulance or the fire service from the ride screen |
| Priority support | Messages Customer Support during the ride for faster help |
Set the contacts up today, not in the back seat. It takes two minutes, and you will not have time later. We did not test these buttons on a live ride for this guide, so we describe them as inDrive's own pages do.
Report a driver to inDrive with details and proof
inDrive says to report a conflict or incident through its contact form or the in-app chat, with as many details and as much evidence as you can give. Its team then reviews the report. Its safety page says it temporarily blocks the accounts involved while it investigates, and contacts authorities if needed.
- Leave the ride if you feel unsafe. inDrive's own advice is to end the ride if you feel threatened.
- Take a screenshot of the ride screen with the driver's name, photo and vehicle.
- Open the side menu, tap Support, or tap "Help during the ride" while travelling.
- Write what happened in order, with the time and place, and attach screenshots or audio.
- Keep the reference or chat history so you can show it to the police.
inDrive's help centre has no phone number for Pakistan on the page we read. The in-app route is the main one.
An overcharge is settled by proof of the agreed fare
inDrive works by agreeing a fare in the app before the trip. That agreed amount is your proof. If a driver demands more at the end, do not argue on the road. Pay only what the app shows, if you are safe to do so, and report it later with a screenshot of the agreed fare.
We found no inDrive help article for lost items in the passenger section. Contact support from your ride history, give the date, time and car details, and call the driver through the app if the app allows it. Do not meet a stranger alone at night to collect an item. Ask for a public place.
Bykea lists a 24 hour call centre, but its site blocked us
Bykea's website blocked our automated tools, so we could not open its help pages ourselves. Search listings of Bykea's own contact and FAQ pages show a call centre on 021-38654444, an email address, cs@bykea.com, and a WhatsApp number, 0307-0123456, with agents available 24 hours a day. The same listings say all rides carry insurance, with accident cover up to Rs 200,000 and hospital costs up to Rs 25,000.
Treat these as reported until you confirm them in the app or on Bykea's site. Do not rely on an insurance figure you have not seen in the app. For a bike ride, wear the helmet the rider provides, and check the number plate against the app before you get on.
For harassment or a crime, go to the police
If someone is in danger or a crime is happening, call 15, the police emergency number. In Punjab, the Safe Cities Authority runs a Virtual Women Police Station, launched on 22 April 2024. Its own page says women can reach it through the 15 call, the Women Safety App with live chat and video call, the Punjab Police App and the Safe City web portal.
So a woman who is harassed in a ride can report it without going to a station. Keep your screenshots, the driver's name and the ride time ready. If you need a report without visiting a station, read how to report to the police in Punjab without going to a station. In Islamabad, see how to file an online complaint with Islamabad police.
We looked for a provincial transport authority desk that takes complaints about ride-hailing apps and found none on an official page. Rules for these apps differ by province, so do not wait for a transport office. Go to the app, and the police, first.

In Punjab, yes. The Virtual Women Police Station takes reports through 15, the Women Safety App and the Punjab Police App.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 7 October 2026. We read inDrive's Pakistan help pages on contacting support, the Safety Center, conflict situations and reporting an incident, and its passenger safety page. We read the Punjab Safe Cities Authority page on the Virtual Women Police Station. Bykea's pages returned an access block, so its details are marked reported. We did not ride or test any app for this guide. In an emergency, call 15 first.
