Instagram Music Not Available in Pakistan: Business Account Fix, Muted Reels and Every Other Cause
Instagram music not showing? Business accounts lose the licensed library. Switch account type, use 14,000 free sounds, or replace a muted reel. Every fix here.

When Instagram music is not available, the usual cause is a business account: Instagram blocks certain business accounts from its licensed music library. Switch to a creator or personal account under Account type and tools, or use Meta's free Sound Collection, which has more than 14,000 royalty-free songs and sounds. The other causes are licensing in your country, a change in a music deal and a muted track.
Below is every cause Instagram lists, the fix for each one, how to replace audio on a reel that has been muted, and what to check before you switch account type, because switching costs you some business tools.
Instagram lists four reasons music goes missing
Instagram's help centre says music may be unavailable because the licensed library is not offered for your account type, it is not offered in your country or region, licensing deals with rights holders have changed, or a rights holder blocked your content.
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No songs at all, only sounds | Business account | Switch account type, or use Sound Collection |
| A song you used before is gone | Licensing changed | Pick another track |
| "Audio unavailable" on a posted reel | Track muted | Replace audio (once) |
| Song missing for everyone in Pakistan | Country or region licensing | Sound Collection or your own audio |
| Live video muted | Full-length recorded tracks | Use shorter clips |
Instagram does not publish a country list for its music library, so we cannot tell you which songs are licensed in Pakistan. What we can say is that the account type cause is the one people fix most easily, so check it first.

Business accounts lose the licensed music library
Instagram's music library is meant for personal, non-commercial use. To protect that, Instagram says certain business accounts and certain types of posts do not get the library. Shops, brands and services that picked Business when going professional are the ones usually caught.
Instagram describes business accounts as best for retailers, local businesses, brands and service providers, and creator accounts as best for public figures, content producers, artists and influencers. Its library page names only business accounts as restricted. It does not say creator accounts always keep full music access, so after you switch, open the Reels audio tool and check before you plan a post around a song.
How to switch your Instagram account type
Go to your profile, tap Menu, then Account type and tools, then Account type, then Switch account type. Choose a personal account, or switch to a creator profile. You can change back at any time.
- Tap Profile or your profile picture at the bottom right.
- Tap Menu at the top right. You may also need to tap Settings.
- Tap Account type and tools, then Account type.
- Tap Switch account type.
- Tap Switch to personal account, then Switch to personal, or choose the creator option if you want to keep a professional dashboard.
Think before you switch to personal. Instagram warns that you lose access to some Meta business tools, such as Meta Business Suite and Meta Ads Manager. If you schedule Facebook and Instagram posts for free through Business Suite, or run ads, the creator route is the safer test. And if your personal account was private, note that going professional makes it public.

Meta's Sound Collection works on every account type
Meta's Sound Collection has more than 14,000 royalty-free songs and sounds that are safe for Reels and Stories, including commercial use such as ads. Open it from the Music sticker in Stories or the Audio button in the Reels camera.
For a shop or brand account that does not want to switch, this is the honest answer. The tracks are not the latest film songs, but your reel will not be muted next month either. You can also record your own voice or import your own audio when you build the video in Instagram's Edits app. Instagram notes that licensed audio longer than 60 seconds is dropped from an Edits download, so keep any licensed part short.

Replace muted audio on a reel in six taps
Open the muted reel, tap Audio unavailable, tap Replace audio twice, choose a track and the part you want, then tap Done twice. Instagram lets you replace a muted track only once, and only on a reel that has actually been muted.
- Open the Instagram app and find the reel with muted audio.
- Tap Audio unavailable.
- Tap Replace audio, then Replace audio again.
- Choose a track and the part of it you want.
- Tap Done at the top right, then Done or the tick.
A muted reel stays up and can still be viewed, Instagram says. Repeated reuse of other people's material is a different issue, covered in the rules on unoriginal content on Facebook and Instagram.
Music on live videos and posts has its own limits
Instagram says there are no limits on music in Stories, but full-length recorded tracks in a live or video post are more likely to be muted or blocked. Use short clips, and make sure the video has a visual point beyond the song.
Two smaller rules catch people. Music can be added to a carousel of photos, but Instagram says not to a carousel that contains videos. And if you cannot hear someone else's reel, the song may not be licensed in your region, or the creator never had rights to it.
Common questions
Why is music not showing on my Instagram?
Most often because you have a business account. Instagram also blocks songs by country, by licensing changes and by rights holder claims.
Do creator accounts get Instagram music?
Instagram's help page names only certain business accounts as restricted. It does not promise full access for creators, so check the audio tool after switching.
Will I lose followers if I switch to a personal account?
Instagram's page does not say you lose followers. It says you lose some business tools, such as Meta Business Suite and Ads Manager.
What is Meta's Sound Collection?
A free library of more than 14,000 royalty-free songs and sounds that any account can use in Reels and Stories, including for ads.
Can I replace muted audio more than once?
No. Instagram allows one replacement per muted track.
Is Instagram music banned in Pakistan?
Instagram does not publish a country list. Some songs may not be licensed in Pakistan, but the music feature itself is not described as unavailable here.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 25 October 2026. On that date we read Instagram's help pages on problems with audio on Instagram, access to the licensed music library, replacing muted audio on a reel, using music in videos, switching back to a personal account, setting up a professional account and Edits audio, plus the summaries in Instagram's own help search. We could not find a country list for the licensed library, or a statement on whether creator accounts always keep it. We did not switch a test account.
