Short answer: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) is hiring 23 project staff for a new river telemetry system, through the National Testing Service (NTS). There are 17 Sub-Engineer posts, 4 Supervisor posts, 1 GIS Analyst and 1 Senior Auditor, paying Rs 70,000 to Rs 157,500 a month. Apply online on the NTS website by 26 October 2026.

IRSA is the federal body that shares Indus water between the provinces under Act XXII of 1992. We read its "Positions Vacant" advertisement and the job description sheet on NTS's announcement page on 20 October 2026. These IRSA jobs are project posts, not permanent ones, and two of the four can be posted anywhere in Pakistan.

IRSA is hiring 23 people for its Indus telemetry project

IRSA wants 23 staff for a project called "Installation of Telemetry System for Real Time Discharge Monitoring at 27 Key Sites on Indus Basin Irrigation System". WAPDA is the executing agency. Staff hired will be attached to WAPDA while the system is built and maintained.

Telemetry means sensors that send water flow readings to a control room automatically. IRSA already publishes river flows each day on its daily water situation sheet. This project is meant to measure discharge in real time at 27 key sites.

PPS is the Standard Pay Package for federal project staff, set by a Finance Division office memorandum of 18 April 2022. The advertisement says a 5 per cent increment is paid each year. The figures are the amounts printed in the advertisement.

IRSA telemetry project jobs October 2026: 17 Sub-Engineers, 4 Supervisors, 1 GIS Analyst, 1 Senior Auditor

Every post asks for age 30 or under and set experience

The job description sheet sets an upper age of 30 for all four posts, with relaxation under federal government rules. The two engineering posts need a DAE diploma and at least five years of SCADA or telemetry experience. A second division is the minimum for any qualification.

  • GIS/Web GIS Analyst: 16 years of education in IT, GIS or computer science, at least second class, plus five years or more of hands-on work in ESRI ArcMap and ArcCatalog with 3D and Spatial Analyst extensions. An MS or MPhil is preferred.
  • Senior Auditor: a second class BBA, BCom or BS Finance with auditing and advanced accounting. Experience and a higher degree are preferred.
  • Sub-Engineer: a DAE in electrical or electronics, and five years or more on SCADA, telemetry or electrical control systems.
  • Supervisor: a DAE in electronics, telecom, electrical or power, and five years or more on SCADA, telemetry, control systems or data centre equipment.

Age relaxation follows the federal rules, and our page on federal age relaxation explains how those years are added. Be careful with the Sub-Engineer title. The advertisement says "Electronics/Electrical", while the job description sheet says "Electrical/Electronics/Telecom/Power". Both ask for a DAE in electrical or electronics, so a telecom or power diploma may not be enough for that post.

Apply online on NTS by 26 October 2026, then post a hard copy

Applications are online only, through the NTS website, and the last date is 26 October 2026. The advertisement also asks you to post a printed copy of the filled form, with attested documents, to NTS in Islamabad within 15 days of the advertisement.

  1. Open the IRSA screening test page on the NTS website.
  2. Read the job description sheet for your post.
  3. Fill the online form and pay the NTS fee shown there.
  4. Print the filled form.
  5. Post it with attested copies of education, experience, domicile, CNIC and NOC to NTS Headquarters, Plot No. 96, Street No. 4, Sector H-8/1, Islamabad.

Apply separately for each post you want. Handwritten or incomplete forms will be refused, the advertisement says. We could not see the NTS fee, because the NTS form pages refused our automated check. It appears when you apply. The NTS process itself, from roll number slip to result, is in our note on NTS registration and results.

Steps to apply for IRSA jobs through NTS by 26 October 2026

These are one year project jobs that can be extended

The advertisement says appointments are made "on Project Mode" for one year at first. They can be extended if your performance report is satisfactory and the project still needs you. These are not permanent IRSA posts.

The project timeline in the advertisement has one year of defect liability, when faults are fixed under warranty, then two years of WAPDA maintenance used for training. Sub-Engineers and Supervisors can be posted anywhere at project sites in Pakistan. Only shortlisted candidates are called for a test and interview, and no travel allowance is paid.

Government employees need an NOC to apply

Anyone in government, semi-government or an autonomous body must apply through proper channel with a no objection certificate (NOC) from their department. Without it, your form can be rejected at scrutiny.

Start the NOC early, since departments can take days. Our page on getting a government employee NOC covers the usual route. Also note that IRSA can increase or cut the number of posts, or cancel the process, at any stage before it ends.

Monthly pay for IRSA telemetry project posts, Rs 70,000 to Rs 157,500

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 20 October 2026. The posts, pay, instructions and last date come from IRSA's "Positions Vacant" advertisement, PID(I) 3326/26, and its job description sheet, both on the NTS announcement page for IRSA, which we read on 20 October 2026. The advertisement is a scan, which we read as an image. It names pakirsa.gov.pk for job descriptions, but that site did not load for us. We could not read the NTS fee or the exact publication date of the advertisement, so the 15 day hard copy window is best counted from the newspaper date if you have it.
