KIBOR, the Karachi Interbank Offered Rate, is the rate most bank loans in Pakistan are priced on. Car loans, home loans and business loans usually charge KIBOR plus a fixed margin. So when KIBOR moves, your next instalment can move with it. We read the SBP's KIBOR sheets for every working day from 23 to 30 October 2026 on 30 October. Every tenor, the day-by-day path and what the rise means for a loan follow.
Three-month KIBOR rose 0.46 points in a week to 12.46%
The three-month KIBOR offer rate was 12.46% on 30 October 2026, up from 12.00% on 23 October, a rise of 0.46 percentage points. Six-month KIBOR rose 0.25 points to 12.66%, and one-year KIBOR rose 0.30 points to 13.05%. Short tenors rose most.

| Tenor | Bid, 30 October | Offer, 30 October | Offer, 23 October | Change in offer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 week | 11.89% | 12.39% | 11.86% | +0.53 |
| 2 weeks | 11.90% | 12.40% | 11.89% | +0.51 |

| 1 year | 12.55% | 13.05% | 12.75% | +0.30 |
Loans are normally priced on the offer side, the higher of the two numbers. The one-week to one-month rates rose by about the same 0.50 points as the policy rate, which is what you would expect for very short money.
KIBOR moved in two steps, on 27 and 29 October
KIBOR did not rise in one go. The short tenors jumped on 27 October, the day the new 12% policy rate took effect. The three-month, six-month and one-year rates moved mostly on 29 October, the day after a Treasury bill auction cleared at higher yields.
| Date | 1 month offer | 3 months offer | 6 months offer | 1 year offer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 23 October | 11.93% | 12.00% | 12.41% | 12.75% |
| 26 October | 11.99% | 12.03% | 12.45% | 12.79% |
| 27 October | 12.38% | 12.21% | 12.45% | 12.79% |
| 28 October | 12.37% | 12.23% | 12.46% | 12.81% |
| 29 October | 12.40% | 12.44% | 12.64% | 13.04% |
| 30 October | 12.44% | 12.46% | 12.66% | 13.05% |
At the 28 October auction, three-month T-bills cleared at 12.43% and twelve-month bills at 12.89%, both well above the 14 October levels. The next day, three-month KIBOR rose 0.21 points and one-year KIBOR 0.23 points. The SBP sheets do not explain the moves, so this is the timing, not a stated cause. Every October day before this week is in our KIBOR history for October.

A Rs 2 million car loan could cost about Rs 318 more a month
If your loan is priced at one-year KIBOR plus 3% and resets now, the rate goes from 15.75% to 16.05%. On a Rs 2,000,000 car loan over five years, that lifts the monthly instalment from about Rs 48,371 to Rs 48,689, roughly Rs 318 more a month.
| Loan | Rate at 23 October KIBOR | Rate at 30 October KIBOR | Instalment change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 2,000,000, 5 years, 1-year KIBOR + 3% | 15.75% | 16.05% | Rs 48,371 to Rs 48,689 (+Rs 318) |
| Rs 5,000,000, 20 years, 1-year KIBOR + 2.5% | 15.25% | 15.55% | Rs 66,765 to Rs 67,880 (+Rs 1,115) |
| Rs 1,000,000, 3 years, 1-year KIBOR + 4% | 16.75% | 17.05% | Rs 35,528 to Rs 35,678 (+Rs 149) |
These are our illustrations. Your margin over KIBOR, your reset date and which tenor your bank uses are written in your loan agreement. Most variable-rate loans reset once or twice a year, so a rise this week only reaches you on your next reset date. Fixed-rate loans do not change at all. The wider effect of the rate decision is set out in how the SBP rate changes your loan.
Savers may see higher profit offers as KIBOR rises
Higher KIBOR usually comes with higher returns on short government paper and term deposits. T-bills for twelve months cleared at 12.89% on 28 October. Banks set their own deposit rates, and none is bound to follow KIBOR on a set day.
Before you lock money into a one-year deposit, compare the bank's rate with the latest T-bill yield. A bank deposit offering well below the T-bill yield is leaving money on the table for you. National Savings rates are set separately by the government and last changed on 21 October.
How to check KIBOR on the SBP website
The SBP publishes KIBOR every working day as a one-page PDF, and the three main tenors also appear on its home page. Each sheet names Refinitiv as its data source. These steps take about a minute.
- Open the SBP home page and find the "KIBOR As on" box under money market rates.
- Read the offer column for 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
- For all seven tenors, open the financial market data page and choose the KIBOR sheet for the date.
- Find your loan's tenor in your agreement, usually 3, 6 or 12 months.
- Add your margin to the offer rate on your reset date to estimate your new rate.
Common questions
What is KIBOR today, 30 October 2026?
The offer rates were 12.46% for three months, 12.66% for six months and 13.05% for one year on the SBP sheet dated 30 October 2026.
Why did KIBOR go up this week?
The SBP raised its policy rate to 12% from 27 October, and T-bill yields rose at the 28 October auction. KIBOR moved on both days. The SBP sheet itself does not state a cause.
Will my car loan instalment go up immediately?
Only on your loan's next reset date, if it is a variable-rate loan. Check the reset date and the KIBOR tenor in your agreement.
Is KIBOR the same as the SBP policy rate?
No. The policy rate is set by the SBP's Monetary Policy Committee. KIBOR is the rate banks quote to lend to each other, and it moves every day.
Which KIBOR do home loans use?
Many home loans use one-year KIBOR, reset yearly, and some use six-month KIBOR. Your loan offer letter names the tenor.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the SBP KIBOR sheets for 23, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 October 2026, for example the KIBOR sheet for 30 October 2026, and the SBP home page on 30 October 2026. The T-bill yields come from the SBP auction result for 28 October. Weekly changes and all instalment figures are our arithmetic, using a standard reducing-balance formula and example margins we chose. Individual banks' loan and deposit rates were not checked.
