Short answer: KPPSC's own ban list shows what cheating costs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Impersonation has brought lifetime disqualification in most cases. A mobile phone, smartphone or ear device in the exam hall brought a three year ban from all KPPSC recruitment in 2023, and a one year ban in 2025. The list, corrected on 9 January 2026, names 21 candidates.

Every exam season someone thinks a phone in a pocket is a small risk. KPPSC's record says otherwise. We downloaded the commission's consolidated list of disqualified candidates, labelled "UFM/Impersonation cases", from the KPPSC website on 20 October 2026 and went through every entry. UFM means use of unfair means. We have left out the names and CNIC numbers on the list. What matters here is the pattern of KPPSC bans.

KPPSC has banned 21 candidates, six of them for life

The consolidated list dated 9 January 2026 has 21 entries. Six candidates are disqualified for life, thirteen for three years and two for one year. The bans cover all recruitment through the commission, not only the post the person sat for.

Reason recorded by KPPSCCasesPenalty given
Impersonation, or an impersonator sitting for the candidate6Lifetime in 4 cases, three years in 2
Mobile phone, smartphone, electronic or ear device10Three years in 9 cases, one year in 1
Unfair means, not described further1Three years
Giving illegal help to another candidate1Three years
Possessing a chit1One year
No reason given on the list2Lifetime

The counts are ours, from the 21 rows. Two lifetime entries carry no reason on the list, one from a 2009 advertisement and one from a 2018 Assistant Sub-Inspector test, where the online profile was also disabled.

A phone in the hall cost three years in 2023

Ten of the 21 cases involve a device. A candidate caught with a mobile phone, a smartphone or "ear device" during papers in 2022 and 2023 was disqualified from all types of KPPSC recruitment for three years. The posts ranged from Pharmacist and Lecturer to Assistant Engineer.

The penalty has not been the same every time. A smartphone case from a January 2025 Assistant Food Controller paper got one year. A chit in the same paper also got one year. We could not find a published rule explaining why, so do not assume a lighter ban next time.

Reasons for KPPSC disqualification: devices 10, impersonation 6, other unfair means 3, no reason 2

Three years is a long time for a job seeker. Upper age limits keep running while you wait, so a ban at 27 can shut you out of many posts for good. For older candidates, a three year ban can end the chance of a government post entirely.

Impersonation usually means a lifetime ban

Four of the six impersonation cases ended in lifetime disqualification from any KPPSC exam, test or interview. In three 2022 cases, KPPSC also cancelled the candidate's paper in a Lecturer and Subject Specialist Pashto ability test held on 2 June 2022. Two later impersonation cases got three years instead.

Impersonation means someone else sits the paper for you, or you sit it for someone else. Both sides are punished. One 2023 entry records a candidate disqualified after "an impersonator" tried to take the exam in their name. Another punished a candidate for giving illegal help to someone else.

If someone offers to "arrange" your paper for a fee, you are being offered a lifetime ban.

Several bans end in late 2026

Most three year bans on the list run from late 2023. Several ended on 12 and 13 September 2026 and on 3 October 2026. Others end on 23 December and 31 December 2026. Both one year bans have already expired, in January and May 2026.

A ban ending does not wipe the record. KPPSC keeps the list on its website, and a later case would be judged with the history in view. If you are on the list and your ban has expired, apply as normal, but keep a copy of the dates in case your application is questioned.

Follow the exam hall rules and nothing on this list happens

None of these bans came from a hard question. They came from things carried into the hall or people brought into the plan. The safe routine is simple, and it is the same at every commission.

  1. Leave your phone, smartwatch and earbuds at home or with someone outside the centre.
  2. Carry only what the admission letter allows.
  3. Check pockets, cuffs and bags for any paper before you enter.
  4. Never let anyone sit a test for you, or sit one for anyone else.
  5. Report anyone who offers to arrange a paper or a result for money.
Five exam hall rules to avoid a KPPSC ban: no phone, no smartwatch, no chits, no impersonation

Other commissions punish the same things. Punjab's record is in the list of PPSC disqualified and debarred candidates, and Sindh's rules are in the steps to avoid SPSC disqualification. The federal exam day routine is in the FPSC exam day rules.

Common questions

What is the KPPSC penalty for using a mobile phone in the exam?

On KPPSC's list, mobile phone cases from 2022 and 2023 got three years' disqualification from all KPPSC recruitment. One smartphone case from January 2025 got one year.

What is the KPPSC penalty for impersonation?

Usually lifetime disqualification from any KPPSC exam, test and interview. Four of the six impersonation cases on the list are lifetime bans.

Where is the KPPSC disqualified candidates list?

On the KPPSC home page, as the consolidated list of disqualified candidates (UFM/Impersonation cases), updated and corrected on 9 January 2026.

Does a KPPSC ban stop me applying to FPSC or PPSC?

The list says the bans apply to recruitment through KPPSC. We found nothing on the list about other commissions, so a KPPSC ban does not on its face cover them.

Can a banned candidate apply again after the ban ends?

The list gives a start and end date for each fixed term ban, which implies you can apply after the end date. Lifetime bans have no end date.

What does UFM mean in KPPSC notices?

Use of unfair means. It covers phones, devices, chits, helping another candidate and impersonation.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We downloaded KPPSC's consolidated list of disqualified candidates, updated and corrected on 9 January 2026, linked from the KPPSC home page, on 20 October 2026 and read all 21 rows. The grouping by reason and penalty, and the case counts, are our own. We did not read the regulation under which the penalties are given, and we could not find why similar cases received different terms.
