The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) can bar a candidate for up to five years for canvassing, false information, forged documents or trying to influence the commission. Copying in an exam, or helping the commission's staff cheat, brings a lifetime ban. A complaint must go to the Secretary in writing, signed by the candidate.

Most disqualifications do not start with a villain. They start with a phone call to "someone who knows a member", or a certificate "fixed" before the interview. SPSC writes down exactly what it punishes. We read Chapter IV of its Recruitment Management Regulations (RMR) on spsc.gov.pk on 15 October 2026. This guide lists the offences, the penalty and the safe way to raise a problem.

SPSC can bar a candidate for up to five years

Regulation 45(1) lists seven practices that disqualify a candidate from the further selection process "for maximum five years". A 2024 office order added the words for maximum five years, so the length is for the commission to decide, up to that ceiling.

Practice listed in regulation 45(1)In plain words
Canvassing in any formAsking anyone to push your case
False accusations about another candidateMaking up claims against a rival
False or hidden informationLying or leaving out important facts in your application
Trying to influence the commission or staffUsing improper channels for support
Maligning or defaming the commissionPublic attacks on SPSC
Forged or altered documentsChanging age, certificates or marks sheets
Unruly behaviour with assault or threat at a venueViolence at an exam or interview centre

The ban applies to the further selection process. A candidate caught in a scheme may therefore lose every SPSC advertisement for years. Compare the neighbouring rule in Punjab by reading how to avoid a PPSC ban.

Offences that can disqualify an SPSC candidate for up to five years

Copying or helping staff cheat means a lifetime ban

Regulation 45(2) is harsher. A candidate found guilty of conniving with a commission staff member for gain, or of copying, receiving help from another person or helping another candidate during an exam or test, is debarred for life from any examination of the commission.

The same regulation says staff found guilty of connivance face action for misconduct, and the Chairperson may start criminal proceedings at the same time. So the penalty can reach beyond SPSC. Never pay anyone who offers a "seat", a leaked paper or a fixed result.

Late discovery can still cancel an offer

Regulation 43 says that if a serious deficiency in a candidate's eligibility is found at any stage, the commission may cancel the candidature or withdraw its recommendation to the department. That can happen after the interview and even after your name appears in a result.

Regulation 44 adds that a candidate whose result is withheld by a university or board on the last date to apply is treated as disqualified. These are not penalties for lying. They are eligibility failures. The fix is to check your papers before you apply. Our SPSC portal upload checklist is a good start.

  1. Read every field of the online form against your original documents.
  2. Declare every attempt and every fact that the form asks for.
  3. Pay the fee before the closing date and keep the receipt.
  4. Do not ask anyone to speak to SPSC members or staff for you.
  5. Carry original documents to the exam and interview.
Five habits that keep an SPSC application safe from disqualification

Raise a complaint in writing to the Secretary

Regulation 45(1)(e) says the proper way for a candidate with a grievance, suggestion or information is a letter to the Secretary of the Commission, or an email to its official account. Regulation 48 says the letter must carry the candidate's signature, and representations by others are not entertained.

For emails, the Secretary must make sure the candidate gets a reply within ten working days. Maligning or defaming the commission is on the list above, so keep the complaint factual and send it through the official channel.

Wrong entries are not always disqualification

Not every mistake is an offence. SPSC separates "deficient" applications, where a paper is missing and may be supplied later, from "rejected" ones, such as late fee, wrong age, no domicile or an application sent by post. An honest error found early costs you far less than a false statement.

If you made an honest mistake in your domicile entry, regulation 22 lets you correct it before the closing date once. Our page on SPSC domicile and Form D rules explains how. The open Advertisement 05/2026 closes on 23 October 2026.

Common questions about SPSC disqualification

How long can SPSC bar a candidate?

For up to five years for the practices in regulation 45(1). For copying or connivance with staff, the ban is for life.

What counts as canvassing?

Canvassing in any form. The regulation also covers trying to get support for your candidature by improper means or channels.

Can I complain about the commission?

Yes, in writing to the Secretary or by email to the official account. The regulation warns against defaming the commission.

Is a missing document the same as a false document?

No. A missing paper makes an application deficient. A forged or altered document is a disqualifying offence.

Can SPSC cancel an offer after a result?

Yes. Under regulation 43 it may cancel a candidature or withdraw its recommendation if it finds a serious eligibility deficiency.

Can an agent or relative write for me?

No. SPSC says it does not entertain representations made for or on behalf of a candidate.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 15 October 2026. We read regulations 41 to 45, 48 and 79 of the SPSC Recruitment Management Regulations, 3rd edition with amendments, on spsc.gov.pk. The RMR page lists a scanned amendment dated 13 October 2026, which we could not read. We report the rules as written and make no claim about how often SPSC applies them.
