Lahore AQI Area Wise: All 11 Punjab EPA Stations, From Shahdara to DHA, and How to Check Yours
Lahore's AQI comes from 11 Punjab EPA stations. On 4 November 2026 Shahdara read 500 and Punjab University 289. See every station and check yours in 5 steps.

Short answer: Lahore's AQI is measured at 11 Punjab EPA stations, and the one nearest you can be 200 points away from the city figure. They are Shahdara, GT Road, Barki Road, Kahna Nau, Egerton Road, Safari Park, Gulberg III, Multan Road, DHA Phase 6, Wagha Border and Punjab University. Open the Town-wise table at aqi.punjab.gov.pk to see each one, free and with no login.
At 5 am on 4 November 2026, Lahore's city reading was 378. But Shahdara read 500 and Punjab University 289. If you live near Shahdara, the city number understated your air by more than 120 points. This guide lists every station, shows how they compared on three dates we checked, and explains how to follow the one that matters to you.
Lahore has 11 official air quality stations
The Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) runs 11 monitoring stations in Lahore. The dashboard's heading says "Lahore (11 stations)". Each station reports an hourly AQI and its pollutant readings, and the city figure is built from them.
AQI means Air Quality Index. It turns fine dust and gas levels into one number from 0 to 500. The stations are named after the road, area or landmark where they stand. The table gives each name and the part of Lahore it is named after. For the exact pin, use the Station-wise Local Wind Map on the dashboard.
| Station name on the dashboard | Part of Lahore it is named after |
|---|---|
| Shahdara | Shahdara, across the Ravi in the north |
| GT Road | Grand Trunk Road corridor |
| Barki Road | Barki Road, towards the east |
| Kahna Nau | Kahna on Ferozepur Road, in the south |
| Egerton Road | Egerton Road, central Lahore |
| Safari Park | Lahore Safari Park area, Raiwind Road side |
| Gulberg III | Gulberg III |
| Multan Road | Multan Road, south west |
| DHA Phase 6 | DHA Phase 6 |
| Wagha Border | Wagha, on the eastern edge |
| Punjab University | Punjab University New Campus area |
If no station is named after your area, pick the one closest on the map. Two stations a few kilometres apart can still differ a lot, so treat the nearest one as a guide, not an exact reading for your street.
Station readings on 4 November ran from 500 to 289

| Station | AQI, 4 Nov, 5 am | AQI, 24 Oct, 6 pm |
|---|---|---|
| Shahdara | 500 | 126 |
| GT Road | 499 | 158 |

| Wagha Border | 323 | 81 |
| Punjab University | 289 | 108 |
| Lahore city figure | 378 | 125 |

Both columns come from the official dashboard. The 24 October figures were recorded for our evening report that day. The gap between the worst and best station was 211 points on 4 November and 77 points on 24 October.
GT Road was in the worst three on every date we checked
Across the three snapshots we recorded this season, GT Road was in the worst three stations each time. Shahdara was in the worst two on two of the three dates. Wagha Border and Punjab University were usually among the cleanest, but no station was always best.
On 3 October 2026 at 1 am, Multan Road read 500 while Wagha Border read 127. On 24 October at 6 pm, GT Road led at 158 and Wagha Border was lowest at 81. On 4 November at 5 am, Shahdara led at 500. Three readings are not a study. They do show that the worst spot moves, so check every time instead of assuming. Our page on checking Lahore's air quality live has the 3 October table.

Check your nearest station in five steps
The Town-wise table on aqi.punjab.gov.pk lists every station with its AQI and pollutants. It is free and works on a phone browser. You can also set an alert so the app warns you when your district crosses a level you choose.
- Open aqi.punjab.gov.pk and check the "Last updated" time at the top.
- Scroll to the Town-wise Ranking table and find your station by name.
- Read its AQI and band. Above 200 is Unhealthy for everyone on Punjab EPA's scale.
- Use the 24-Hour Air Quality Trends chart to see whether your station is rising or falling.
- Set an AQI alert for your district in the Set AQI Alert box, or install the official AQI Punjab app linked on the page.

The dashboard sometimes shows a connectivity notice. When a station has not sent data, its row may be missing or stale. If your station looks frozen, compare its time with the "Last updated" line and use the next nearest station.
Punjab EPA's bands tell you what a number means
Punjab EPA uses seven bands, from Good (0 to 50) to Hazardous (401 to 500). Its scale has a Satisfactory band for 51 to 100, so its Moderate band starts at 101. Check which scale a figure uses before you compare it with another app.
| Band | AQI range |
|---|---|
| Good | 0 to 50 |
| Satisfactory | 51 to 100 |
| Moderate | 101 to 150 |
| Unhealthy for sensitive groups | 151 to 200 |
| Unhealthy | 201 to 300 |
| Very Unhealthy | 301 to 400 |
| Hazardous | 401 to 500 |
The dashboard's advice for vulnerable groups is to stay indoors and wear an N95 mask and protective glasses if going out is necessary. For children and older parents, see EPA's advice at each AQI level. If you see a smoke source near your station, report it on the Green Punjab app or call 1373.

Which area of Lahore has the worst AQI?
It changes. At 5 am on 4 November 2026 it was Shahdara at 500. On 24 October at 6 pm it was GT Road, and on 3 October at 1 am it was Multan Road.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the Punjab EPA dashboard at aqi.punjab.gov.pk just before 6 am PKT on 4 November 2026, including the Town-wise table, bands, alert box and app links. The 24 October and 3 October station figures were read on the same dashboard for our earlier reports. Station locations are described by name only. Readings change every hour.
