A Lahore Fort ticket costs Rs 100 for Pakistani visitors, Rs 30 for students and Rs 1,000 for foreigners, according to the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), which runs the fort. The gates open at 8 am and close half an hour before sunset. Guided tours inside the fort cost Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 a person.

We read these prices on WCLA's own Lahore Fort website and its tour pages on 3 October 2026. That matters, because old prices still circulate in forwarded messages. If you plan a family trip, the gap between Rs 100 and Rs 3,000 a head is the difference between a walk and a guided half day, so it pays to decide which one you want before you reach the Alamgiri Gate.

Lahore Fort ticket prices for 2026

WCLA lists three entry prices for Lahore Fort: Rs 100 for the general public, Rs 30 for students and Rs 1,000 for foreigners. Visitors with disabilities can get discounted rates by arranging it in advance with WCLA's accessibility team.

Carry your student card if you want the Rs 30 rate. WCLA does not say on its page which documents it accepts, so a valid college or university card is the safest thing to bring. Children's prices are not listed separately on the fort page.

We did not find an online sale for the basic entry ticket on either WCLA website. The "book" buttons we found are for paid tours and events, not for the Rs 100 entry. Plan to buy the entry ticket at the fort.

Lahore Fort timings and the best time to go

Lahore Fort opens at 8 am and stays open until half an hour before sunset, according to WCLA. Closing time therefore moves through the year: it is earlier in winter and later in summer, so check the sunset time on the day.

In early October, sunset in Lahore falls a little before 6 pm, so the gates close at roughly 5:30 pm. Arrive by 3 pm if you want to see the main quadrangles without rushing. The fort is large. WCLA says its buildings sit in four big quadrangles with 21 separate structures.

Mornings are cooler and quieter. Weekend afternoons are the busiest time, especially when an evening event is planned.

Guided tours of Lahore Fort and what they cost

WCLA runs paid guided tours inside the fort. The three listed on its site cost Rs 2,000, Rs 2,800 and Rs 3,000 a person, and each has its own time slot, phone numbers and meeting point inside the fort.

History by NightRs 2,800 a personSaturdays, 7:30 pm to 9:30 pmLahore Fort

The Hidden Places tour goes to parts most visitors never see: the Akbari Hammam, the attic rooms of the Sheesh Mahal, British barracks, Mughal water channels and the summer palace basements, according to WCLA's tour page. It is the one we would pick for a first paid visit.

History by Night is the evening event. WCLA lists it for every Saturday, and its "Book Now" button sends you to a separate booking page. The numbers on WCLA's page for it are 0300-3443557 and 0309-3579518.

Steps to visit Lahore Fort without wasting time

Decide between a plain entry ticket and a guided tour first. Then check the sunset time, carry cash and a student card if needed, and call WCLA a day ahead if you want a tour or step-free access.

  1. Pick your visit type. A Rs 100 entry lets you walk the fort on your own. A tour from Rs 2,000 adds a guide and closed areas.
  2. Book a tour by phone. For the daytime tours, WCLA lists 0302-4111511, with 0332-3985706 or 0333-4540493 depending on the tour.
  3. Check sunset time. The gates close half an hour before it.
  4. Bring cash and ID. Students should carry a valid card for the Rs 30 rate.
  5. Ask for access help early. WCLA's accessibility line is +92 300 3443557.

Visitors coming from another city usually arrive at one of the Lahore bus terminals and then take a rickshaw or ride-hailing car to the old city. Inside Lahore, the metro bus and the Orange Line train are cheap ways to cross town before a short last leg.

Access, audio guides and nearby sites

WCLA says Lahore Fort has a multimedia guide with Urdu Sign Language and subtitles, and an audio guide for blind and partially sighted visitors. Step-free access should be arranged in advance through its accessibility team.

The fort tour covers indoor halls on several levels and outdoor paths, so wear shoes you can walk in for two hours. The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a protected monument under the Antiquities Act 1975, as WCLA notes, so climbing on walls or scratching names is an offence, not just bad manners.

Badshahi Mosque and Gurdwara Dera Sahib are next to the fort. WCLA also runs walled city transport: a rickshaw for up to 6 people at Rs 2,000 for 1 to 2 hours from PHA and Delhi Gate, and a 22 seat coaster at Rs 25,000 for 3 hours.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked about 2 am PKT on 3 October 2026. We read the entry prices and timings on WCLA's Lahore Fort website, and the tour prices, times and phone numbers on the WCLA book tours pages, including the Hidden Places, Sikh Empire and History by Night tours and the rickshaw and coaster pages. WCLA does not date its price list, so we cannot say when these prices took effect. We did not buy a ticket or visit on the day, and the October sunset estimate is ours, not WCLA's.
