Visit the Lahore Museum: Rs 50 Ticket, Closed Fridays and First Mondays
Lahore Museum ticket price is Rs 50 for adults and Rs 20 for students. Timings, the Friday and first Monday closures, and why online booking fails right now.

A Lahore Museum ticket costs Rs 50 for an adult, Rs 20 for a student or child and Rs 1,000 for a foreigner, according to the museum's own website. The museum is closed every Friday and on the first Monday of each month. Its online "Book a Ticket" page did not work when we tried it, so plan to pay at the gate.
We read the prices and timings on lahoremuseum.punjab.gov.pk, the Punjab government website for the Lahore Museum, on 3 October 2026. The museum stands on Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, The Mall, and calls itself the oldest and largest museum in Pakistan. It holds about 60,000 objects, from Indus seals and Gandhara sculpture to the Pakistan Movement. For Rs 50, that is one of the best value days out in Lahore.

Lahore Museum ticket prices for 2026
The Lahore Museum website lists three ticket prices: Rs 50 for an adult, Rs 20 for a student or child, and Rs 1,000 for a foreigner. There is no separate family ticket on the page, so a family pays per person.
| Visitor | Ticket price |
|---|---|
| Adult (Pakistani) | Rs 50 |
| Student or child | Rs 20 |
| Foreigner | Rs 1,000 |
So a family of two adults and two school-going children pays Rs 140 in total. Students should bring a valid student card. The website does not say what age counts as a child, so ask at the counter if you have teenagers with you.
Lahore Museum timings and closed days
The museum's website gives winter hours of 9 am to 4 pm and summer hours of 9 am to 5 pm. Friday is the weekly holiday, and the museum also closes for maintenance on the first Monday of every month.
That first-Monday rule catches people out. In October 2026 the first Monday is 5 October, so do not plan a visit for that day. The next one is 2 November.
The website is not fully consistent. Its footer says winter hours end at 4 pm. Its header says winter hours are Saturday to Thursday, 9 am to 5 pm. We could not tell which one is current, so arrive by 2 pm in winter to be safe. If the exact closing time matters, call the museum on 042-99211819 before you go.

The online booking link does not work yet
The museum's website has "Book a Ticket" and "Order Now" buttons, but on 3 October 2026 the booking page showed "Page not found" and the order buttons led back to the home page. Buy your ticket at the museum.
We tried the booking link from the home page and from the footer. Both went to the same missing page. This is a website fault, not a sign the museum is closed. Nothing on the site says tickets are sold online only.
Be careful with any other site or social media page that offers "online Lahore Museum tickets". The official website is lahoremuseum.punjab.gov.pk. If you cannot see the ticket on that address, you do not need to pay anyone in advance.
Steps to visit the Lahore Museum
Check the day first, because Fridays and first Mondays are closed. Then go to the museum on The Mall, buy a Rs 50 or Rs 20 ticket at the counter, and allow at least two hours for the main galleries.
- Check the date. Not a Friday, and not the first Monday of the month.
- Check the season. Winter hours end earlier than summer hours.
- Bring a student card if you want the Rs 20 rate.
- Go to Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, The Mall. The museum is the large red-brick building on The Mall.
- Buy the ticket at the counter and keep it until you leave.
If you are coming from outside the city, the Lahore bus terminals are where most intercity coaches stop. Inside the city, the metro bus or the Orange Line train can take you most of the way for a low fare.
What you can see inside the Lahore Museum
The museum's website lists 13 galleries, including Gandhara, Islamic, Miniature Paintings, Coins, Postage Stamps, Pakistan Movement and Pre-historic and Indus. Its best-known objects include the Fasting Siddhartha sculpture and Sadequain's ceiling mural.
- Gandhara Gallery: the Fasting Siddhartha, a 2nd to 3rd century sculpture from Sikri, is the museum's most famous piece.
- Central Gallery ceiling: Sadequain painted "Evolution of Mankind" for it in 1974.
- Pakistan Movement and Postage Stamps galleries: good for school children and history projects.
- Coins, Manuscripts, Sikh, Ethnological and Contemporary Paintings galleries fill the rest of a long visit.
The museum opened in 1894 and its building mixes Mughal and British colonial styles. Lahore Fort is a short ride away if you want to see two sites in one day; WCLA runs that one separately with its own tickets.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked about 2 am PKT on 3 October 2026. We read the ticket prices, timings, closed days, address, phone number, gallery list and history on the Lahore Museum website, and we tried its /ticket-booking page, which returned "Page not found". The website does not date its price list, and its header and footer give different winter hours; we have reported both. We did not visit in person. The October and November first-Monday dates are our own calendar check.
