Train, bus or car between Lahore and Rawalpindi
The fastest train takes 4 hours 15 minutes for 290 km of track. By road, the M-2 motorway is the main route, and you pay toll and fuel on top; every exit is listed in the M-2 motorway toll plazas. Coaches run all day too, and their fares and refund rules are in the Daewoo Express booking details.
The train is hard to beat on price in Economy, and a family with heavy bags gets 20 kg free per ticket. Winter fog slows both options. Pakistan Railways posted a notice in December 2025 listing trains that left Lahore hours late because of fog, and motorway sections close in thick fog too. Before a winter trip by road, check the PMD motorway fog update.
