Short answer: Lahore traffic police will register cases against drivers who drift or perform stunts, and arrest those responsible, after tracing a car from a social media video on 20 October 2026. Citizens are asked to send videos of one-wheeling and drifting to the traffic police WhatsApp number 0322-5638888. A day earlier, police ordered cases against heavy vehicles entering Lahore outside the 11 pm to 7 am window.

Both orders came from Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Abdul Rahim Shirazi. The drifting crackdown was reported on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, and the heavy vehicle order on Monday, 19 October 2026. Together they show where Lahore traffic police is pushing this month: dangerous driving that kills, rather than paperwork offences.

If you ride a motorcycle on one wheel for a video, or haul a truckload into the city at noon, the Lahore traffic police crackdown is aimed at you.

Lahore traffic police will file cases against drifting and stunts

The CTO said police will register cases against drivers who put lives at risk through reckless driving and dangerous stunts. Police will identify the vehicles involved and arrest those responsible. A car seen drifting in a video posted online has already been identified, a traffic police spokesperson said.

A case is different from a challan. A challan is a fine you pay. A case under the criminal law can mean arrest, a court date and a record. Rash driving on a public road is an offence under Section 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code, punishable with up to two years in prison, a fine of up to Rs 3,000, or both.

Send one-wheeling and drifting videos to 0322-5638888

The CTO asked citizens to send videos of wheelies and drifting to the traffic police WhatsApp number 0322-5638888. He said the reports would help police take legal action. A clear video with the number plate visible is what police need to trace a vehicle.

We could not confirm the number on the City Traffic Police Lahore website, which did not load for us on 20 October 2026, so treat it as reported. Do not film while you are driving, and do not chase anyone to get a better shot.

  1. Record from a safe place, never from behind the wheel.
  2. Try to capture the number plate, the road and the time.
  3. Note the location, such as the road name or nearest landmark.
  4. Send the clip and the location on WhatsApp to 0322-5638888.
  5. For a crash or an injury, call 15 or 1122 first, not WhatsApp.

Lahore traffic police also runs the Rasta app for challans and traffic alerts. Punjab's safety app has a separate reporting route through the PSCA public safety app.

Heavy vehicles may enter Lahore only from 11 pm to 7 am

Heavy traffic is barred from entering Lahore in the daytime and is allowed in only between 11 pm and 7 am, traffic police said on 19 October. The rule covers tractor trolleys, trailers, trucks and construction machinery. Oil tankers may enter only at designated times.

The CTO ordered cases to be registered directly against operators who break the hours. Traffic officials were also told to watch public service vehicles and commercial traffic during the banned hours.

The tractor trolley part is not new. City Traffic Police Lahore announced the same 7 am to 11 pm ban on trolleys on 10 September 2026, which we read on its website at the time. That Lahore tractor trolley timing ban came with rules on tarpaulins, lights and licences. What is new is the wider list of vehicles and the move to cases rather than fines.

Punjab traffic fines for reckless driving: Rs 3,000 for a motorcycle and Rs 15,000 for a transport vehicle

Fines for reckless driving run from Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000

On top of any case, the traffic fine still applies. The Punjab Traffic Police fine schedule we read on 8 October 2026 lists reckless or negligent driving at Rs 3,000 for a motorcycle. For public service and transport vehicles it is Rs 15,000.

Plying where and when prohibited, which is our reading of the offence a truck in the banned hours would face, is Rs 15,000 for transport vehicles and tractor trolleys on City Traffic Police Lahore's own schedule, read in September 2026. Every other amount sits in the Punjab traffic fines list by vehicle type.

Licences are at risk too. Lahore traffic police has already shown it will act on them, as when it suspended 170 driving licences after fatal accidents. A drifting video that ends in a crash could cost more than a fine.

Parents are asked to steer young drivers away from stunts

The CTO urged parents to encourage their children to put their energy into constructive activities rather than dangerous ones. A parent who lends the car or the bike shares the risk, even if the case is filed against the driver.

The same week, a 15 year old boy died in Multan after being hit by a car during a chase, according to reports. That is the cost the police are pointing at.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

The drifting crackdown, the WhatsApp number 0322-5638888 and the heavy vehicle hours rest on the CTO's statements as reported on 19 and 20 October 2026. The City Traffic Police Lahore website did not load for us on 20 October 2026, so we could not read any press note for these two orders. The 10 September 2026 tractor trolley announcement and the Rs 15,000 amounts for transport vehicles were read on City Traffic Police Lahore's site in September 2026. The Rs 3,000 motorcycle fine was read on the Punjab Traffic Police schedule on 8 October 2026. The Section 279 wording is from the Pakistan Penal Code on the Pakistan Code site, read in September 2026. The Multan death is reported, and we have not seen the police record.
