To ask for a MEPCO bill due date extension online, use the MEPCO Smart app: MEPCO's own app page lists "Due Date Extension" among its 12 services, next to instalment requests, meter change and complaints. Download it from Google Play or the App Store through the links on mepco.com.pk, add your 14 digit reference number, and send the request from your phone.
Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) serves South Punjab, with more than 8.9 million consumers by its own count. We read its app page, its frequently asked questions and both app store listings on 24 October 2026. Below is every service the app offers, MEPCO's own rules for bill instalments, the numbers to ring if the app fails, and what we could not confirm.
The MEPCO Smart app lists 12 services, due date extension among them
MEPCO's "Our App" page names 12 services: bill estimator, meter change request, tenant CNIC update, instalment request, due date extension, new connection, change of attributes, new connection tracking, bill payment, NEPRA complaints, complaint tracking and complaints. All of them start from your phone.

The App Store description adds "meter reading correction" and "opt for smart meter" to the list, plus daily load and voltage readings for meters linked to your profile, and alerts about scheduled and planned load shedding.

Requesting an extension takes five steps
Install MEPCO Smart from the link on MEPCO's own app page, create an account, add the meter by its reference number, then open Due Date Extension and submit. Do it before the due date on your bill, because a late payment surcharge is added once the date passes.
- Open mepco.com.pk/mepco-mobile-app and tap the Google Play or App Store button. On Play the app is listed as "MEPCO SMART".
- Install it and create an account as the app asks.
- Add your meter with the 14 digit reference number from your bill. The app can hold several meters on one profile.
- Choose Due Date Extension, pick the bill and submit the request.
- Watch for a push notification with the result, and keep paying attention to the original due date until you see an approval.
We did not submit a request, because that needs a real MEPCO account. So we cannot tell you how many days an extension adds, whether it is granted automatically or by an officer, or how often you can ask. Treat it as a request, not a right, and pay on time if you hear nothing.
The surcharge for missing the date is set out in the late payment surcharge rules, which explain the 5% and 10% figures and when you can dispute them.
MEPCO's own rules decide how many instalments you can get
MEPCO's FAQ says instalments are not given on the current bill, only on arrears, and interest is charged at the bank rate. It sets limits by officer: an SDO can allow three instalments on arrears up to Rs 5,000, rising to six with the Chief Executive's approval.
| Officer | Arrears up to | Instalments allowed |
|---|---|---|
| Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) | Rs 5,000 | 3 equal monthly |
| Executive Engineer (XEN) | Rs 50,000 | 3 equal monthly |
| Superintending Engineer (SE) | Rs 100,000 | 4 equal monthly |
| Chief Executive Officer | Larger amounts | Up to 6 equal monthly |
MEPCO adds conditions. The powers are for genuine and deserving cases, the consumer must not have defaulted in the last six months, and you sign an undertaking to pay each instalment with your running bill. These figures come from MEPCO's Urdu FAQ page. NEPRA's 2025 manual leaves instalment decisions to each company, as covered in paying an electricity bill in instalments.

The app has mixed reviews, so keep the phone numbers handy
On the App Store, MEPCO Smart is published by the Power Information Technology Company and rated 2.2 out of 5 from 46 ratings in Pakistan. On Google Play it shows more than 100,000 downloads. If the app fails, MEPCO's FAQ gives phone routes.
- MEPCO's FAQ page shows "Need Support? 0319-9757789".
- If the line is busy, the FAQ says to dial 0800-63726 or 118.
- For a power cut, your sub division office's complaint centre can tell you when supply will return, the FAQ says.
- For wrong arrears on a bill you already paid, show the bank receipt at the sub division, a customer service centre or the bank branch.
The Play listing was last updated on 5 August 2026. The App Store version, 2.4.6, dates from 13 December 2024. PITC also publishes Power Smart, a wider app for the government power companies, which showed more than 1 million downloads on Play.
Other bill problems have their own route
The app covers most requests, but a few problems need paper or an office. A wrong reading has a short complaint window, an ownership change needs the original documents, and a bill you cannot read is easiest to check online first.
To see or print the bill itself, use MEPCO bill check online with the reference number. A wrong meter reading must be raised within days, and the time limits for each kind of complaint are in the electricity bill complaint deadlines. For a tenant's CNIC, the free PITC portal is an alternative to the app's Update Tenant CNIC option.
