How to Move Your Raast ID to Another Bank in Pakistan: De-link, Then Re-link
You can hold 1 Raast ID linked to 1 account. De-link it at your old bank, then register the same number at the new one. See the 6 steps and the order to follow.

Short answer: you can move your Raast ID to another bank in Pakistan, but only one account at a time. De-link the Raast ID in your current bank's app or internet banking first, then register the same mobile number in the new bank's app. Each person can hold one Raast ID linked to one account.
That rule comes from Meezan Bank's own Raast questions, which we read on 20 October 2026. The bank says an individual "can only register one RAAST ID with one linked account (regardless of the number of bank accounts or mobile numbers they may have)". It also says you "can de-link your RAAST ID from your current bank account and can re-link this RAAST ID with another bank account".
People move a Raast ID for ordinary reasons. A new job pays salary into a different bank. An old account is being closed. Or you simply want money sent to your number to land in the account you actually use.
One Raast ID can point to only one account at a time
Your Raast ID is your mobile number linked to one bank or wallet account. You cannot link the same number to two accounts, and you cannot hold several Raast IDs as one person, even with several accounts or SIMs.

Raast is the State Bank of Pakistan's instant payment system. The SBP describes it as running on a cost recovery model with "low-to-no transaction costs for end users", and names payments through a phone number used as a Raast ID as one of its features. Setting up the ID the first time is covered in creating a Raast ID.
| Question | What Meezan Bank's Raast answers say |
|---|---|
| How many Raast IDs per person | One |
| How many accounts per Raast ID | One |
| Can you move it to another bank | Yes, de-link it and re-link it |
| Do you need a Raast ID to send money | No, you can send to any Raast ID or IBAN without one |
| Can Raast send money abroad | No, it is for transfers within Pakistan only |
De-link at the old bank before you register at the new one
Remove the Raast ID from your current account first. The new bank cannot register a mobile number that is still linked elsewhere, because the system allows only one linked account per ID. Once the old link is gone, register the number at the new bank.
Banks put the option in different places. Meezan Bank lists Raast ID registration under "Raast Payment" in internet banking, confirmed by an OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Other banks use their app's Raast or payments menu. We did not move a Raast ID ourselves, so we cannot give the exact button name in each app.
- Log in to your current bank's app or internet banking with the mobile number registered on that account.
- Open the Raast section and find the option to de-link, remove or deregister your Raast ID.
- Confirm with the OTP or PIN the bank asks for, and keep the confirmation screen or SMS.
- Log in to the new bank's app and open its Raast section.
- Choose to register a Raast ID, select the account you want, and confirm with the OTP sent to your number.
- Ask a friend to send Rs 1 to your mobile number through Raast, and check it arrives in the new account.

Move the ID before you close the old account
Close the old account only after the Raast ID is linked to the new one. If you close first, people paying your mobile number could see the payment fail or be told the ID is not found, and you would have to ask each sender again.
We could not confirm at source what Raast does with a payment to an ID whose account has just been closed. That uncertainty is the reason to do it in order. Closing an account has its own steps and paperwork, set out in closing a bank account.
The same order applies if your salary is moving. Change the Raast ID on the day the new account is active, then tell your employer or regular senders. Anyone who pays you by IBAN rather than by number is not affected by the Raast ID at all.
Test the new link with a small payment and a name check
After the move, ask someone to send you Rs 1 by mobile number and to read back the account name their app shows. If the name matches your new account and the rupee arrives there, the switch has worked.
Most bank apps show the receiver's account title before a payment is confirmed, though we did not check this in every app. That name check is also your protection against a mistake. If a sender types a wrong digit and sees a stranger's name, they should stop. If money still goes to the wrong person, recovering it is a different process, covered in recovering a wrong bank transfer.

Wallets and Raast requests follow the same one-ID rule
The one Raast ID rule applies whether the ID sits on a bank account or a wallet. If you want money sent to your number to land in a JazzCash or Easypaisa wallet, the ID has to be de-linked from any bank account first.
Moving the ID also moves where Raast payment requests point. A shop or biller that sends you a Raast Request to Pay reaches your app through your ID. How to approve or reject those requests is explained in Raast Request to Pay.
Common questions
Can I link my Raast ID to two bank accounts?
No. Meezan Bank's Raast answers say an individual can register one Raast ID with one linked account.
How do I change the bank account linked to my Raast ID?
De-link the Raast ID at your current bank, then register the same mobile number at the new bank.
Do I need a Raast ID to send money?
No. You can send to any Raast ID or IBAN without registering one. You need an ID only to receive by mobile number.
Does it cost anything to move a Raast ID?
We found no fee for de-linking or re-linking. The SBP describes Raast as low to no cost for end users.
Can I receive money from abroad on my Raast ID?
Meezan Bank's answers say Raast is for transfers within Pakistan only.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the Raast questions on Meezan Bank's Raast page and the State Bank of Pakistan's Raast page on 20 October 2026. The SBP's Raast person to person page returned an error that day. We did not move a Raast ID in any app, so the menu names, how long a de-link takes to clear, and what happens to a payment sent mid-switch are not verified.
