NICOP Renewal in Spain: Madrid Embassy Appointment, Documents and Consular Fees (€10 to €60)
Renew a NICOP in Spain with an online appointment at the Madrid embassy. See the documents, the €10 to €60 consular fees and the rule against bank transfers.

To renew a NICOP in Spain, book an online appointment with the Pakistan Embassy in Madrid first: NADRA services are by appointment only. Bring your original card, passport, Spanish residence card and your parents' CNIC copies. Other consular work is walk-in, with attestation at €10 a document and a power of attorney at €30.
Spain has a large Pakistani community, from Barcelona's Raval to the farms of Catalonia and the suburbs of Madrid. We read the consular services page of the Embassy of Pakistan in Madrid, its service charges page and its FAQs on 1 November 2026. The embassy rejects files for small slips, such as a power of attorney on stamp paper, so the details below matter.
NADRA services at the Madrid embassy need an online appointment
The embassy says an online appointment is strictly mandatory before any NADRA visit. Attestation, passports, emergency travel documents and visas stay walk-in during office hours. Appointments are booked on MOFA's booking page with Madrid selected as the mission.
The embassy is at Calle Pedro de Valdivia 16, Madrid 28006, about 100 metres from Gregorio Marañón metro station on lines 7 and 10. Office hours are 9 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm. The main phone is +34 913 458 995, and WhatsApp is +34 627 28 76 20.
Many people can skip the trip. The embassy's own FAQ says CNIC, NICOP and POC can be obtained online from NADRA, and the steps are in renewing a NICOP online on Pak ID.

Documents for NICOP renewal in Spain
For renewal or a change, bring your original CNIC or NICOP, passport and Spanish residence card, plus copies of your parents' valid CNICs. Marital status, name and date of birth changes each need one extra paper, listed by the embassy.
- Original CNIC or NICOP.
- Original Pakistani passport.
- Spanish residence card.
- Copies of both parents' valid CNICs.
- For a marriage update, the original marriage certificate and your spouse's card copy.
- For a name change, a name change affidavit attested by the embassy.
- For a date of birth change, the original birth certificate and supporting official papers.
One rule catches people out. If your case needs an affidavit, for a lost card or a name or date of birth change, get it attested at the embassy counter first. Then upload it with your application.
A first CNIC through a B-Form needs the original B-Form, a union council birth certificate, your passport and Spanish residence card, your parents' CNIC copies, and two Pakistani witnesses with their CNIC copies and phone numbers.

Madrid and Barcelona consular fees run from €10 to €60
The Madrid embassy and the Barcelona consulate charge the same fees since 1 January 2024: €10 for attestation, €20 for certificates, affidavits and authority letters, €30 for a power of attorney, and €60 for commercial attestation. Fees are paid in person.
| Service | Fee per document |
|---|---|
| Attestation | €10 |
| Certificates, affidavits, authority letters | €20 |
| Emergency travel document | €20 |
| Service listed as PKM | €20 |
| Renunciation of citizenship | €25 |
| Power of attorney | €30 |
| Commercial attestation | €60 |
The payment rule is blunt. The embassy will not accept a bank transfer for any consular service, and money sent that way is not refunded. Pay by card or cash at the counter on the day. The fee table does not cover NADRA's own card fee, which is paid separately. Passport fees for both missions are in the Pakistani passport fee in Spain.

A power of attorney in Spain must be on plain paper with two witnesses
The embassy rejects a power of attorney printed on stamp paper. Bring two stapled sets on plain paper, your valid original CNIC or NICOP, three photographs, copies of your CNIC, passport and NIE, and two witnesses in person.
The attorney's CNIC copy is needed too, along with property or court papers if the power concerns them. You sign and give your thumb impression only in front of the consular officer. An expired card means no attestation, so renew it first.
The FAQ adds two time limits from Pakistan's side. A power of attorney must be attested by the Foreign Office in Pakistan within 90 days, and registered with the registrar within 120 days. A power made in Pakistan for use in Spain needs the Foreign Office stamp before the embassy sees it. The online alternative, poa.nadra.gov.pk, is explained in making a power of attorney from abroad.
Police character certificates through Madrid work for KP and Sindh only
The Madrid FAQ says the embassy processes a police character certificate online, and it arrives within 5 working days from your district in Pakistan. It adds that this online route is only for applicants whose address or family is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Sindh.
Bring your original CNIC and passport. People from Punjab, Islamabad and other areas need another route, such as an authority letter for a relative in Pakistan, which the embassy also attests. Other missions describe the provinces differently, so ask before you rely on this.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 1 November 2026. We read the consular services page, the consular service charges page, the attestation FAQs and the contact page of the Embassy of Pakistan in Madrid on mofa.gov.pk, all on 1 November 2026. We did not book an appointment. The pages do not give NADRA's card fee, NADRA processing times, or whether the Barcelona consulate also has a NADRA desk, and the fee table does not explain the service it lists as PKM. NADRA's own site does not open from our location, so its fee schedule was not checked.
