Short answer: Pakistan have 4 points and need one win from their last two league matches, against England on 25 October and Sri Lanka on 27 October, to be sure of a place in the 31 October final. If Pakistan lose both, they can still go through, but only on certain results.

The table after 22 October 2026 reads Pakistan 4, Sri Lanka 2, England 0, with three league matches left. We worked out every result ourselves. The sums assume 2 points for a win and none for a loss, because the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) playing conditions page was not readable for us. Check the board's page before you plan travel around any scenario.

One win from two matches puts Pakistan in the final

If Pakistan win either the England match or the Sri Lanka match, they reach 6 points. Only 6 points remain for the other two teams, so both cannot reach 6. Pakistan finish in the top two whatever else happens.

Pakistan's final scenarios: two wins or one win reach the final, two defeats depend on England beating Sri Lanka

The proof is simple. There are 12 points in the league and Pakistan would hold 6. Sri Lanka and England together hold the other 6 at most. So at best one of them equals Pakistan, and the other must be below.

Two wins give Pakistan 8 points and top spot

Winning both gives Pakistan 8 points, the maximum. No other team can reach 8, because Sri Lanka's best is 4 after losing to Pakistan. Pakistan would then be first and would play the final against Sri Lanka or England.

The table is our own arithmetic from the results to date and the fixture list. It is not a PCB table.

Two defeats leave Pakistan at the mercy of 29 October

If England beat Pakistan on 25 October and Sri Lanka beat Pakistan on 27 October, Pakistan stay on 4 points. They then go through only if Sri Lanka beat England on 29 October. If England win that match, all three finish on 4 points.

Three teams level on 4 points would be separated by net run rate

In that three-way tie, net run rate would decide the top two. Pakistan's is plus 1.24 by our sums after two matches, well ahead of Sri Lanka's minus 0.35 and England's minus 0.89. A heavy defeat would eat into it. Our page on how net run rate works shows how.

What Pakistan face in Lahore

The England match on Sunday, 25 October is the Pink Day match at Gaddafi Stadium. England lost to Pakistan by 87 runs in the Rawalpindi game on 20 October. Their batters then scored 429 against Sri Lanka, including 202 from Harry Brook.

Net run rate after two games each: Pakistan plus 1.24, Sri Lanka minus 0.35, England minus 0.89
  1. Pakistan v England, Sunday 25 October, 1 pm Pakistan time.
  2. Pakistan v Sri Lanka, Tuesday 27 October, 1 pm.
  3. Sri Lanka v England, Thursday 29 October, 1 pm.
  4. Final, Saturday 31 October, 1 pm, all at Gaddafi Stadium.

The 12 point total behind the sums

The league has six matches and each one gives out 2 points, so 12 points in all. After three matches, 6 points are gone: Pakistan 4 and Sri Lanka 2. That leaves 6 points for the last three matches, and every scenario on this page comes from splitting them.

Pakistan's two remaining matches are worth 4 points. England's and Sri Lanka's match on 29 October is worth 2 more. Pakistan's total can therefore be 4, 6 or 8. Sri Lanka's can be 2, 4 or 6, and England's 0, 2 or 4.

Once Pakistan hold 6, the others share at most 6, so only one of them can match Pakistan. That is the proof behind the one-win rule, and it holds without any run rate sums. A tie on 6 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is possible, but a third team cannot join it.

The one case that depends on net run rate is the three-way tie on 4. We would then need the board's tie-break order, which we have not been able to read, so we do not say which team would go through on anything but run rate.

Common questions

How many points does Pakistan need for the final?

6 points guarantees a top two place. That means one win from two.

Can Pakistan miss the final?

Yes, only if they lose both matches and England beat Sri Lanka on 29 October, and then net run rate goes against them.

What is the points per win?

We assume 2 points a win and none for a loss. The board's conditions page did not load for us.

Who does Pakistan play next?

England, at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, 25 October.

Where is the final?

At Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday, 31 October. See the match day guide.

What is net run rate?

Runs per over scored minus runs per over conceded. It separates teams on equal points.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

On 22 October 2026 we read the ICC story on Sri Lanka's win, a full match report, and the fixture list we published earlier from the board's own schedule at pcb.com.pk. We could not read the board's playing conditions or standings page, so the 2 points a win and the tie-break order are assumptions. All the scenarios are our arithmetic.
