Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in Lahore on 27 October 2026 as Madushanka took 5 for 34. See the scorecard, the final table and the 31 October final.

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Tuesday 27 October 2026. Pakistan were bowled out for 110 in 25.3 overs after being put in, and Sri Lanka reached 114 for 2 in 18.1 overs. Dilshan Madushanka took 5 for 34, and the win sent Sri Lanka into the tri-series final against Pakistan on Saturday 31 October.
Pakistan had already qualified, so the defeat cost them nothing in the table. It still matters. This was the same side that meets Sri Lanka again in four days, and it lost with 31.5 overs unused in the chase. Below are the scorecard highlights, the final table, and what the result says about the final.
Sri Lanka won by eight wickets with 31.5 overs to spare
Sri Lanka needed 111 and got there in 18.1 overs for the loss of two wickets. By our count that left 191 balls unused, or 31.5 overs. Their scoring rate was about 6.3 an over, close to double what Pakistan managed.

| Innings | Score | Top scorer | Best bowling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pakistan | 110 all out, 25.3 overs | Babar Azam 29 off 33 | Dilshan Madushanka 5 for 34 |
| Sri Lanka | 114 for 2, 18.1 overs | Kamindu Mendis 62 not out off 60 | Arafat Minhas 1 for 23 |
Kusal Mendis won the toss and chose to bowl. That call looked good inside four overs, when Fakhar Zaman was already gone. Pakistan's top order had no answer to Sri Lanka's left-arm fast bowler.
Dilshan Madushanka took 5 for 34, a career best
Madushanka, the left-arm fast bowler, took five wickets for 34 runs, reported as the best figures of his ODI career. He removed Fakhar Zaman and Saad Baig early, then came back to take Arafat Minhas, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi at the end.
Fakhar went in the fourth over for 5, mistiming a short ball. Maaz Sadaqat, playing his first match of the series, was lbw to a yorker from Asitha Fernando for 8, which left Pakistan 23 for 2 in the seventh over. Saad Baig made 5.
Sahan Arachchige took 2 for 24, dismissing Salman Ali Agha for 9 and Shadab Khan for 2. Eshan Malinga trapped Babar Azam lbw, and Dunith Wellalage had Hasan Nawaz caught. Five different Sri Lanka bowlers shared the ten wickets.

Pakistan lost their last six wickets for 49 runs
Pakistan were 61 for 4 in the 14th over when Babar fell for 29 off 33 balls, with five fours. They had already used both reviews. From there they slid to 64 for 6 and 91 for 8, and were all out for 110.
- 23 for 2 in the 7th over: Fakhar Zaman 5 and Maaz Sadaqat 8 out.
- 61 for 4 in the 14th over: Babar Azam lbw to Malinga for 29.
- 64 for 6: Salman Ali Agha 9 and Shadab Khan 2 gone to Arachchige.
- 91 for 8 in the 23rd over: Hasan Nawaz caught for 17 off 31 balls.
- 110 all out in 25.3 overs: Shaheen Afridi caught off Madushanka for 15.
Shaheen hit two sixes in his 15 off 13 balls, the only real hitting of the innings. Arafat made 10 off 18 and Haris Rauf 1. By our count of the ten dismissals, Naseem Shah, back after a finger injury, was the batter left not out. The published reports we read do not give his score or the extras.
The two changes were forced by the squad moves of the weekend. Maaz replaced Saim Ayub, who was released to play domestic cricket, and Naseem came in for Razaullah. Our report on the updated Pakistan ODI squad for the tri-series has the background.
Kamindu Mendis made 62 not out to finish the chase
Kamindu Mendis opened and made 62 not out off 60 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. It was his fifth ODI fifty, reached off 42 or 43 balls depending on which report you read. He and Avishka Fernando put on 50 for the first wicket in 6.5 overs.
Shaheen broke that stand when Avishka pulled to Fakhar at short midwicket for 16. Arafat then bowled Kusal Mendis for 8, the ball coming off the bat into the stumps. Pakistan's bowlers got no further. Shaheen finished with 1 for 29 and Arafat with 1 for 23.
Pavan Rathnayake made 23 not out off 26 balls and added an unbroken 52 with Kamindu. Rathnayake scored a hundred against England earlier in the series, when Sri Lanka chased 430 in Rawalpindi. He is the form batter Pakistan must plan for on Saturday.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will meet in the final on 31 October
Sri Lanka now have 4 points from three games, which England cannot reach, so the final is Pakistan against Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday 31 October 2026. England play Sri Lanka on Thursday 29 October in a match that no longer affects the final.

| Team | Played | Won | Lost | Points | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pakistan | 4 | 3 | 1 | 6 | In the final, all league games played |
| Sri Lanka | 3 | 2 | 1 | 4 | In the final, play England on 29 October |
| England | 3 | 0 | 3 | 0 | Out, play Sri Lanka on 29 October |
The table is our own count from the five results, at 2 points a win. The two finalists have now beaten each other once. Pakistan won the opener in Rawalpindi on 18 October by 37 runs, when Salman Ali Agha made 107. Sri Lanka have levelled it in Lahore, on the ground where the final is played.
Pakistan's run to the final came from three straight wins, the last of them the one-wicket chase against England when Shadab Khan made 113 not out. That innings rescued 154 for 9. On Tuesday there was no rescue. The top order has now failed in two Lahore games running, and that is the problem to fix before Saturday.
The final starts at 1 pm PKT, with tickets from Rs 400
The final at Gaddafi Stadium starts at 1 pm PKT with the toss at 12:30 pm, as the board set for every match of the series. In Pakistan it is live on PTV Sports and streams on the PCB Live app, Tapmad and Tamasha. Enclosure prices for the final run from Rs 400 to Rs 22,000.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read two published match reports of Pakistan v Sri Lanka on 28 October 2026 for the scores, the dismissals and the bowling figures. Where they differed, such as the ball on which Kamindu reached fifty, we say so. Sri Lanka's squad comes from Sri Lanka Cricket's squad release, which we read the same day. The Pakistan Cricket Board's website (pcb.com.pk) refused our tools, so we could not read its official scorecard and every figure above is as reported. Naseem Shah's score, the extras and the full Sri Lanka bowling figures were not in anything we read. The points table, the balls to spare and the run rate are our own sums. Start time, channels and ticket prices come from the board's earlier releases as recorded in our linked reports.
