Punjab Smart Syllabus 2027 Notified for Class 9 and 11, Class 10 and 12 Still Awaited

PECTAA has notified the Punjab smart syllabus 2027 for Class 9 and Class 11. The two notifications are dated 6 November 2026 and apply to all nine Punjab boards for the Annual Exam 2027. Each comes with deleted topics, a pairing scheme and model papers. Class 10 and Class 12 lists were not on PECTAA's page when we checked on 7 November.

Students have waited for this list since the session began. Many teachers would not start revision plans without it. Now Class 9 and Class 11 students know which chapters they can set aside, and which they cannot.

We downloaded both PDFs from PECTAA's own website and read every page. The Class 9 annex is made of scanned pages, so we went through it one page at a time.

PECTAA notified two smart syllabus lists on 6 November 2026

PECTAA issued notification No. 1238 for Class 9 and No. 1239 for Class 11, both dated 6 November 2026. They follow approval by its Academics Committee at the 13th meeting on 5 November, under Section 9(1)(b) of the PECTAA Act 2025.

PECTAA is the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority. It now sets the curriculum, including Punjab's new school curriculum with fewer books, and the exam framework that the boards follow. The official name of the list is the Smart Syllabus, or Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP), covering deleted topics and exercise questions.

Both notifications are copied to the chairpersons of all nine boards: Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur. So the deleted topics are the same whichever board you sit with.

Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology lose whole chapters in both classes

Most changes remove named topics inside chapters that stay. But Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology lose a whole chapter or unit in both classes, and English loses several full units.

• Chemistry 9: Chapter 12, Empirical Data Collection and Analysis, and Chapter 13, Laboratory and Practical Skills.
• Mathematics 9: Unit 8, Logic.
• Biology 9: Chapter 11, Biostatistics, and the glossary.
• Mathematics 11: Unit 8, Mathematical Induction and Binomial Theorem.
• Biology 11: Unit 7, Structural and Computational Biology.
• Chemistry 11: Chapter 15, Basic Separation Techniques, and Chapter 16, Lab Safety and Practical Skills.
• English: 3 of 11 units out in Class 9, and 4 of 14 units out in Class 11.

Urdu 9 drops four of its 19 lessons. Islamiat 9 drops five Ahadith, several lessons and the whole of Chapter 7. The full subject by subject tables, with textbook pages, are in our Punjab smart syllabus 2027 deleted topics list.

The pairing schemes fix the marks for each 2027 paper

Class 9 science papers carry 60 marks and take 2 hours. Mathematics, English and Urdu 9 carry 75 marks. Islamiat 9 carries 100. In Class 11, English and Mathematics carry 100 marks and the three sciences 85 each.

A pairing scheme is the plan a paper setter must follow. It says how many questions come from each chapter and how many you must answer. Physics 9, for example, has 12 MCQs, three blocks of short questions where you answer 5 of 8, and 2 of 3 long questions.

Computer Science and Entrepreneurship 11 is a 75 mark paper of 2 hours 30 minutes. Every paper, in both classes, opens with an objective part of MCQs.

Class 10, Class 12 and Class 9 Computer Science are still missing

PECTAA's Curriculum and Compliance page listed only the Grade 9 and Grade 11 files on 7 November 2026. There was no Class 10 or Class 12 list. The Class 9 annex also has no Computer Science pages.

Reports had said all four classes would get their lists on 7 November, and that Class 9 Computer Science would follow in mid November. PECTAA has not published either yet. Until it does, students in Class 10 and 12, and Class 9 Computer Science students, should keep studying the full book.

There is a trap here. A Class 10 student cannot use the Class 9 list, because the Class 10 exam is on a different book. The same goes for Class 12.

The Class 11 PDF also has Urdu pages, including the Urdu pairing scheme, which did not come out as readable text on our copy. Urdu 11 students should open the PDF itself.

The two official files are on pectaa.edu.pk, on the Curriculum and Compliance page, under Smart Syllabus. Check the notification number on page 1 before you trust any copy.

2. Scroll to the Smart Syllabus section.
3. Download "Smart Syllabus (Accelerated Learning Programme-ALP) Grade-9" or "Grade-11".
4. Check page 1: No. 1238 for Class 9 or No. 1239 for Class 11, dated 06.11.2026.
5. Find your subject in Annex-A and read the lines marked "Revised" in red.

The site was slow on the afternoon of 7 November and once showed a database error. If that happens, wait and retry. A forwarded image on WhatsApp is not the notification. Class 9 students in Gujranwala also have a biometric deadline on 30 November 2026 to keep in mind this month.

Common questions

When was the Punjab smart syllabus 2027 notified?

On 6 November 2026. PECTAA's Academics Committee approved it on 5 November, and the notifications for Class 9 and Class 11 carry the 6 November date.

Is the smart syllabus for 10th and 12th class out?

Not yet. PECTAA's page showed only Class 9 and Class 11 when we checked on 7 November 2026.

Does the smart syllabus apply to all Punjab boards?

Yes. It is notified for implementation across Punjab and copied to all nine boards, from Lahore to Bahawalpur.

Is Computer Science in the Class 9 smart syllabus?

No. The Class 9 annex covers seven subjects and has no Computer Science pages. Keep studying the full Computer Science book for now.

Will deleted topics come in the exam?

No. Every subject sheet tells paper setters not to include any objective or subjective question from the excluded topics and questions.
